I either pay with checks or cash.
Talk about rip offs. Joe and I have decided we want 2 series Phillips sonicare eletric toothbrushes. So check on line, Walmart and Target both sell them at 39.99 each. I go to Phillips and print out two 10 coupons. He checks in store there, I call Target...Walmart wants 59 on shelf. Target wants 69. Cheap on line only. Talk about cutting your stores throats. So I will order on line. BUT, cant use coupons if shopping on line. I suppose they wrangle a cheaper price for on line sales. And then wonder why the stores dont make goal.
I remember long ago, husband worked for a Mobil station. Mobil sales came in and took orders for oil cans. Then Kmart opened in town. And sold the same cans. Sales came in and owner b*tched him out. What was Mobil doing cutting the stations throats? He could go to Kmart and buy the can cheaper than the cost he had to pay direct as a dealer.

Bought this dress coat at Talbots online...about 65% off....the fake fur collar is all black, not like this catalog picture. I'm pleased, but very few coats are up to the standards of the old days. They have it in other colors unless sold out. I'm picky and this coat is nice for the price.

Reminds me of the coats of the 60's that had the racoon collar. I saved and pinched and was a senior in high school. I finally got enough together to buy one and I'm thinking it was $18. Was in town and it was a slushy snow and was pushed to the curb from the street cleaning. I stepped off the curb, hit the slush and fell flat on my hindend. The coat was black and you can imagine what it looked like with all the salt in the slush. Made me sick, but the cleaners was able to clean it so no problem.

It's that time, once again...

I cover my overstuffed furniture with old sheets, to keep the cat hair off...

Rather than wash them, I just toss them. Don't want cat hair clogging the drains...

Sometime this week, I'll go to the Senior Center for lunch...

They have a value village kind of a thingdeal too, so...

I'll buy used sheets to replace the ones I toss...

A dollar each...

Competition in the automobile industry has been good for consumers! The above chart would have looked a lot different 20-30 years ago when foreign cars were far more reliable than American cars...it forced American car manufacturers to up their game.

A bargain is a bargain is a bargain, but is it a bargain if...

You buy one to get one free... Or buy two to get one free and then...

Before the BIG GAME, you ate what you bought for the BIG DAY and...

NOW have no Super Bowl snacks left for the BIG GAME???

There ought to be a law against' puttin' stuff on sale, too soon before the BIG DAY...

BUT, calling upon my will power and great restraint, I'm good ta go...

I still got plenty Super Bowl snacks left for the BIG GAME!!!

GO FALCONS!!!

Top's had a sale last week on Curly's BBQ 16 oz pork ribs, fully cooked.

Buy 2, get 3 free.

Catch is the regular price is $13.99 each, two for $27.98.

I though that's not really a bargain.

That is till I got the calculator out.

Let's see---------. That comes to $5.60 a package.

I figure that's a bargain.

Bid 13 on 4/$40 bullion embroidered patch appliques and got them! Ordered some other embroidery patches. Man you can pay a couple bucks on ebay for ones that sell in fabric stores for 10! Talk about markups. I have learned a trick now. Go to what you found cheap. Type in the fewest base words in description and search. And odds are find even cheaper. I crack up..looking at something that is like 5. And then run across the SAME thing listed for $999. WTH!!! Are they dreaming or nuts or what.

ORZ, do you also use the Shopgoodwill.com site. They are set up same as Ebay and you bid the same way. This site covers the US and the merchandise listed is from donations the same as the inventory in the stores. I've purchased several items from this site and never had a problem receiving it.

Since the Holidays, things have been a bit tumultuous...

One thing I've noticed is... Not getting my shopping circulars on Tuesdays...

Hopefully, starting with THIS Tuesday, things will be back to normal...

I still have one whole cheesecake and a few slices from another, but...

I have no more ice cream and... What is life, without ice cream... right?

It's been a while since they had it on sale, so...

I'm expecting the super giant colossal jumbo tub of blueberry cheesecake ice cream on sale...

I dont need another way to shop..lol. I am not that hep on Goodwill since they are owned by the Japs and no longer meet the original creedo. They also are a bit high compared to Vinny's. I dont bid on Ebay..go for the buy now. I just ordered two pair of ballet style shoes. Type in Chinese embroidered ballet and drool. They run $10 or so in price and the workmanship is gorgeous. They are soft canvas shoes.

What I want to hear you grouch about is when you get to the casino, plug in your first dollar and hit a big payoff.

I read that if you turn your partially used spaghetti jar upside down it will eliminate the mold on the lid. Trying it over the next week or so.

Problem is I never go to the casino except for free play. And then watch til it is gone, grab whatever I get and run. So never a big payoff in my future. lol.
Mold needs air to grow so makes sense to tip over a jar. If no air, no mold. Just hope that lid is tight when you take it out.

There is certainly no big payoff in my future either. One is akways hearing how much a person wins, but they don't tell you that they pumped $400 in the machine to win $100.

This blonde kept praying "Dear God, please let me win the lottery". She did this every night.

Finally she heard this deep voice from above which said, "Buy a ticket".

Lol. That seems to be my problem too. But, I figure the odds still will be against me so a bird in hand as they say.
We just got an Aldis in town. I am ignoring it now due to low inventory of merchandise and the flyers are bait and we are out crap. The old local grocery just ran a stock up sale again of buy 2 and get 3 free. So I went over the best deals of stuff I USE and rang up 169 some which when the 3s were taken off ended up about 61..saved 96. I talked to the gal about if he is trying to kick off Aldis. She said no. But their sales are the same or up. She did hear however that Walmarts sales are down 20%. I said to her, shows who shops those stores. I knows the welfare housing apts are right across the way. I think they have the mentality that if a store says they are cheaper, then it must be true. So they hit Walmart. And when Aldis comes in saying cheap, they flock to it instead. What I see is the prices at both are about the same as the grocery stores. And when the groceries cut a sale, beat the pants off both. And for better quality. The way to save is sales and stock up. Comparing a receipt for the same products when regular doesnt work right.

Same with the cheaper gas prices. Watch the mileage and find that even if you pay 10 cents less on the gallon at Walmart or like pumps, you get less miles out of it than if you get it from the well known petroleum pumps.

Talbots is 80% off online now. I like the way they allow negative reviews as well as positive reviews on their web site. Getting ready to place a small order now. I ordered a dress winter coat a few weeks ago and have not worn it yet. It was 80 degrees today and I turned on the AC after walking.

And I am ecstatic over 45!!lol. I bought embossing powder at Wis Craft Mall and paid 2.99. So go on Ebay to see if available. Should be cheaper right. WRONG! They are all charging 5 or more for the same thing. If 4 then they wanted 3 to ship. Grrrr... I use the powder as paint. I take clear nail polish which is a super lacquer paint, dip the brush into some powder I put on a paper plate and paint away after painting the clear on the item first. Guess if I cant find it anywhere, Joe will be sent on a mission if I want more.
I avoid the Moto Mart gas in town. I swear it is half water. Makes a car run like crap.

Woke this morning with the sun peeking over the horizon and a sweat shirt kind of day. I needed my junk hunting fix so showered and out the door fairly early. Drove over to a small town not far from here and visited the Mission store. Their purpose is to aide children in specic counties in which the residents struggle because there's few jobs. The funds are used to purchase eye glasses for children who can't afford them. School supplies and/or school fees. Fees for vocational classes during high school, etc. The mission operates on donated merchandise only, and it's cheap. Only the furniture is priced and the remainder of the inventory is basically a set price. Adult clothing $1.00 a piece, childrens clothes a size 5 down to infants 50 cents. Most of the knick nacks $1. Lamps, George Forman's, electric skillets, can openers. etc. are usually $3. They have a furniture room and I always check it first to see if there is any small pieces that I can handle and resale in my booth. Two pieces today but one would have taken more cleaning that I wanted to do and the end table (with a door) was in decent shape. $5 each. Reached to open the door to the end table and had a sudden feeling that this piece came from a dirty home. Nope I didn't want that.

In the misc. room I found a humidifier (mine went kaput a couple weeks ago and had it on my shopping list for next time I went to Walmart). One of those little styrafoam pellet pillows that one uses to cradle their neck or stuff in the lower back when setting. A bedside tray (not commercial or hospital). It was nicer looking than the commercial or hospital things. I examined it and thought it would be handy to set my sewing machine on when I wanted to sew in the living room, use it for a desk with my adding machine when I was balancing my checkbook, etc. I hate the calculators because you have to hit the plus or minus key each time you enter a number and then I forget and the total is frequently correct. Grabbed that and pushed to the lady that is collecting the money and advised that I wanted it but still had shopping to do. Found a walking cane with the 4 legged pronged feet. I can resale this. Then went to the book room. Found a hardback written my one of my favorite authors. Went to check out. Total for everything $9.50. Left there very happy.

Down the street for a Goodwill stop. Made a fast sweep and only looked at the furniture and what they had should have gone to the dumpster or priced way beyond what I would have paid if I were purchasing for my personal needs. Started up the isle glancing over the dishware and noticed a large woven basket on a bottom shelf. Pulled it out more because of curousity and found it to be a portable baby bassinet complete with mattress pad. Looked at the price tag as curousity because I felt it was priced very high. Only $4.59 and a very good find for the flea mkt.

Across town to hit the old road back to my house. Stopped at a mini mall that is a small vendor's mall. I hardly buy anything there but there is one booth that is very reasonably priced, so wanted to check it out today. Disappointed because they had moved out. Bought nothing.

Back toward home, sun shinning, warm day and still wanting to junk shop. Went by the Salvation Army Thrift Store and read the grease board beside the door to advise what they were featuring for the day. Sweat shirts, hoodies for 50 cents. All books 10 cents. I hit the furniture section first. Nothing. Started to the book shelves and saw this sweatshirt sleeve sticking out of the jammed clothes on the rack. Checked it and found a size small (my size) and a very nice shirt for our local university. Tossed in buggy and on to the books. Two buggies overflowing plus jam packed shelves. Found six books in very good condition.

Six Books and a nice sweatshirt. Total $1.68

Very nice bargain finds.

I always wonder about sales. If they can sell so cheap and make money..why dont they lower the price to start with and then maybe they wouldnt have full clearance racks. They say that is what is wrong today..people know they will reduce so no one buys until they do.
I found a fringed fake leather jacket type thing at Goodwill when we were in Madison for 4.50. I had JUST seen it on ebay for over 25. Bingo!

I cant believe how the companies push to shop. Presidents Day is now made for furniture sales? WTH? Guess they are whining cause the young gens dont buy enough. Most live with parents or roommates and dont own homes to fill with crap like we did. Even if they dont, they dont buy anything much but tech like Smart phones and $5 coffees. Many dont even bother to get a drivers license anymore. How did the world get to be interested in consumerism only. Go to an event for some interest and it will be diluted by the need to sell you something and entertain everyone NOT into that interest. No holiday can be celebrated for a cause or for love of family and friends. All it is promoted as is a NEED to buy. Sad world we live in.

When pup died, I looked on line for stuffed. Ended up making a totem of her lieing on belly. I see flaws and wish I had made her taller. Not pleased as much with it. Went to Goodwill and come around and there sits the standing stuffed dog that I had looked at for over $40. And the price was 10. So bought it. Today I will spray dye it black and have a second dog to comfort me. I bent the legs so it is in the sitting position. Wakan Tanka provides.

Ordered first thing online to be delivered to the Walmart store for pickup. Ordered a GPS and it was $70 cheaper online than in the store. ???

I have seen that in Walmart often. What gets me is the bull about ship to store. They are trying to compete with Amazon who is kicking their butts. So lowered ship free to $35 which is still too much. Plus I like the idea they used to have to ship to store and pay at pickup. Now you have to order it off computer in their store and pay right away. And they are drop shipping more and more so you cant get it shipped to store. I just got an email of under 10 on jeans. But, under 35, adds 6 to ship to house. So forget it.

I found a great way to decorate cheap.I went on ebay and ordered a thin vinyl photo backdrop. They cost around 10 or so. I got the one yesterday and taped it on my BR wall opposite my mural. It is more like thin soft cloth than plastic. I found a gorgeous garden one. They come in anything and everything. Scenes of woods, oceans, patios, gardens and fantasy. Or rooms in mansions or castles. Whatever you wish, they are out there. Way cheaper than murals. Way easier than painting one.

Yesterday I went to Giant Eagle, a grocery store that is being

replaced by a new, bigger Giant Eagle.

All the health and beauty was 50% off.

I bought a lot of travel items, baby powder, shampoo, conditioner,

toothpaste, face wipes, etc. Most all 50 cents.

Hello , I use a Discover card to order online from discover deals so I get 5% back on the card , Walmart , sears, JCP , Kohl's and many other stores have the 5% deal , most ship to home for free if you buy a certain dollar amount , I will not pay for shipping, the other plus to discover card is it keeps my credit score active , your fico score , I just buy what I was going to buy anyway , some times just a larger amount to get free shipping , I also use a Chevron card to buy gas so I get the gas at the cash price , here that saves me 10 cents a gallon, it all helps at the end of the month. I also was doing firewood for my family that lived in Phelan , like 70 miles from me but it was at 4000 feet , they used propane fuel to heat with , which was crazy at over four dollars a gallon , so a wood stove helped a lot , it heated the house just fine , some of the wood I got for free off Craigslist , some I bought by the dump truck load , I had to cut and split the wood anyway , I got some help from the son in law , grandson so it was okay, kept me busy .

Bigbob, it's so nice to save money.

I bought a 2 1/2 ibs of corned beef flat brisket.

It was 6.89 lb, $17.29.

I paid $10.01 for it.

It is cooking in the crockpot right now.

Free $10 coupon in mail from Kohls. Boarder asked if I wanted his card..has $75 on it. I said no...I dont BUY I just use the free 10. So checked out clearance..hmmm...mens nice sweat shirts are this one for 12 or these on 7.20 or this one for 10. Get one free or pay 4.40 for two. Finally decided on two for 7.20 each would be nest bargain.
Hit St Vinnys and grabbed a 10 pound bag of t-shirts for 2.50. DO we need more..no. But..it is so much fun to root in the bags. lol. So found 3 for me, a few for Joe and he took the rest to the bodyshop for rags. Often the shirts are brand news..sometimes even with tags.
Now...why do we not wear til dirty and then use for rags? Against training...sigh..so wash them.

Stopped by the local flea market last Sunday. That is because my friends wanted to. Bargains??? Wish I could have found even one. I went by a table that had like 75 used purses all piled up. My friend saw one she wanted. I took it from her and asked the sales woman if I could purchase it for a few bucks as Nothing was priced. She abruptly grabbed it from me and THREW it back on the table making a comment it costs $25. I wanted to tell that woman something but for once I bit my tongue.

I hate jerks like that. Dont want to sell it eh? Reason I wont buy much at Goodwill. See something for 2 and it has the Dollar Tree label on it. Or the $3 with the fifty cent rummage tag on it.
The Dells Vinnys is super high cause they think they can nail the stupid tourists. When I said something once, was snapped at...for charity. First..it is also supposed to sell to POOR people too. And second..how about I just give the cash to charity. Like.. RED CROSS b*tch!

I enjoy visiting yard sales and swap meets but when I see no pricing I just turn to leave. Usually the owner will say "if there's something you see that you like just ask and I'll give you a price". One day it ticked me off because I overheard a lady ask the price on something and the owner appeared to size the woman up as if to determine how much she could gouge her for. After that I usually say "no thanks, because if I have to ask I can't afford it" and just walk off.

Went to a swap meet yesterday held first weekend at the local fairgrounds. This was the first of the season. At least half of the vendors did not have prices. This particular vendor had the things I find interesting and am always looking for items for my flea market booth. He had two old metal kitchen match holders and one had a little rust on it. The vendor was talking to someone just shooting the crap but he saw the instant I touched the things. He hollered across the tables and said $15 each on those. I wasn't sure he was speaking to me so asked "for these?" He smarted his mouth off and said "you can't buy them for 40 cents each these days". I wasn't in the mood for his smart mouth or poking fun at me so I came right back at him. I said "well better let me set them down real delicately because I sure wouldn't want to knock any of the rust off. He turned red and shut the hell up.

Just went to a swapmeet for Cushman scooters, I had an order called in to a dealer for new parts. I picked up my new parts along with their new catolog, then I looked over the used stuff on the tables & bought a glass tail light lens for $3 then when I got home I looked to see what the glass lens cost in the new catolog $34.94 so did i get a good deal or just screwed on the new stuff?
