Chicago Public Schools are expensive for taxpayers, but where are the results?
How to squander $70,000 a day
To scrape through June and cover a big pension payment, Chicago Public Schools took out two loans totaling $387 million. Because of the district's financial woes, the cost of borrowing is enormous.
Editorial Board
When Chicago Public Schools students and their parents hear about how principals often are told to do more with less money, they should think about this figure: $70,000 a day. That's what CPS will pay in interest under the terms of two loans it secured recently. And that, of course, comes atop all the other interest CPS pays on money it has borrowed.
That's another $70,000 a day — not a week, not a year — that won't go to textbooks, school supplies, teachers' salaries, nurses, librarians, school maintenance or anything else remotely related to helping children learn.
This is what happens in a city and state that, year upon year, cannot confine their spending to what they collect in revenue. That is, this is one more miserable consequence of the Illinois penchant for running up taxpayer debt.
First we'll explore this $70,000 a day — which is more than what the median household in this city earns over a full year. Then we'll look at how the squandering of so much taxpayer money speaks to what's wrong with public finance in Illinois:
Between now and late September, CPS likely will pay a minimum of roughly $7 million in interest alone on the two loans, which total $387 million, The Tribune's Juan Perez Jr. and Peter Matuszak report. CPS will pay a ruinously high interest rate of more than 6 percent. And the costs could rise: If the district holds the debt longer, to a Dec. 28 deadline, total interest payments would rise to more than $13 million.
There are other trapdoors in the deal that could make it even more expensive: Should the district file for bankruptcy or seek similar financial relief through emergency oversight, the rate rockets to a maximum of 9 percent, Perez and Matuszak report. That astonishingly high rate also kicks in if CPS fails to pass a balanced budget for the upcoming school year and to levy taxes for it by Oct. 31. Or if credit agencies sharply downgrade the district's credit rating for long-term bonds issued last year.
To be fair, this latest episode of calamitous borrowing isn't solely the district's fault. CPS resorted to this short-term loan because Illinois, itself broke and piling up billions in unpaid bills, hasn't come through with education grants owed the district. The state is days away from its third consecutive year without a budget.
No, CPS isn't to blame for the state's infuriating gridlock. But it is to blame for its financial problems that have grown worse from years of self-inflicted wounds. Sloppy management and negligent oversight. Sweetheart pension deals. Generous teachers' contracts. Reluctance to downsize the district's huge real estate footprint and close half-empty schools. Bloated central office administration. Expensive corruption scandals. And on and on. Put another way:
This is what a school system capsizing in debt looks like. No significant rainy day fund to help educators weather budgetary crises. No margin for error. And no relief in sight: CPS must turn to exorbitantly expensive short-term debt to help pay operating expenses, including a huge and imminent payment to the Chicago Teachers' Pension Fund.
And this is what a state veering ever deeper into insolvency looks like. Lawmakers compound decades of their own short-sighted financial decisions, using tomorrow's money to pay today's bills. So other governments downstream, in this case CPS, don't get what Springfield owes them.
Whether it's a school district in Chicago, state government in Springfield or a municipal government anywhere between Wisconsin and Kentucky, this is what happens when public officials head down the dark path of borrowing more than they'll collect in revenue. Their short-term solution — Borrow more to keep spending! — piles up more debt and raises ruinous interest payments, siphoning more and more money from vital services like educating children.
CPS CEO Forrest Claypool has vowed that the district will open its doors on time this fall. He has said the district will do "whatever is necessary." But will the institutions that lend CPS continue to do whatever it takes to float the district's finances? What happens when they won't?

In 1993, Harry Reid Said ‘No Sane Country’ Rewards Illegals With Citizenship (VIDEO)
President Donald Trump has taken so much heat from liberals and the media for simply demanding that U.S. immigration laws be enforced.
But, the Democrats seem to forget that there was a time that they, too, demanded the same kind of respect for the law!
Back in 1993, then Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nevada) said “no sane country” would ever reward illegal immigrants with citizenship or amnesty. And then, Reid went on to slam the process of anchor babies, where illegal immigrants’ children that are born in the U.S. are given automatic citizenship.
Take a look at this:
In 1993, Harry Reid spoke forcefully that "NO Sane Country" would reward ILLEGALS. pic.twitter.com/QRE7ScMhHT
Published on Aug 18, 2010
http://www.StandWithArizona.com Couldn't have said it better ourselves. Except this was said in 1993 by Harry Reid who recently said the GOP had "taken leave of their senses" by daring to question birthright citizenship, and therefore he couldn't understand how "anyone of Hispanic descent could be a Republican". How any Nevada voter could keep such a liar and hypocrite in office one day longer is beyond us.

How come when Trump does this he’s blasted and called a ‘racist’ by the media?
But when Harry Reid did it, it was totally fine?
Another case of Democrat hypocrisy – and dishonest media.
Sad!

University Of Minnesota ‘Dismantles Racism’ By Banning White People From Safe Spaces
downtrend.com
Our nation’s institutions of higher learning may be letting our young people down by giving them a substandard overpriced education, but they have introduced the concept of safe spaces, which protect minority groups from having to deal with white people. You know, because after college it’s unlikely that an Afro Latino tranny illegal alien will ever encounter a white person in the real world. The University of Minnesota is at the forefront of this safe space movement, creating LGBT bubbles for people of color that straight white people may not enter under any circumstance.
College Reform reports that the University of Minnesota offers a program called “Tongues United” that is exclusively for non-white people who are gay, transgender, or of any other abnormal sexual deviancy. This isn’t some radical student group, but rather a university sanctioned and sponsored thing. The university’s website proudly promotes this abomination.
And according to the website, this is what it’s all about:
Tongues Untied is a space by and for People of Color who identify as LGBTQIA and/or Same-Gender-Loving. Named after the famous documentary “Tongues Untied” by Marlon Riggs & Essex Hemphill, the group serves to connect students, staff, faculty, and the Twin Cities community by holding discussion groups that focus on how race, sexuality, and gender impact our lived experiences.
Campus Reform reached out to this group to see if straight white people were welcome and the response was, “Tongues Untied is a space that was created by and for indigenous people and people of color who identify as queer and/or trans.”
Tongues United Facebook page states very clearly that:
Tongues Untied (TU) is a space that was created by and for indigenous people and people of color who identify as queer and/or trans. If you identify as a queer and/or trans indigenous person or person of color, we welcome you to take part in our discussions.
The university website adds:
For our allies: we do appreciate your voices and commitment to dismantling racism and homophobia; however, please note that this is a space created for LGBTQIA and/or same-gender-loving people of color.
And so the answer is “no” white people are not welcome, straight people are not welcome, even gay white people are not welcome. For the record, The University of Minnesota is a public university, so a bunch of straight white people are paying for this safe space that bans them.
Even crazier is that the point of this group is to dismantle racism and homophobia by banning people of a certain race and sexuality. I can’t even think of a dumber thing that makes less sense than this.
Would a straight white club which bans people of color and homosexuals be okay at Minnesota or any other university? Of course not, that would be racist and homophobic. So why does the University not only allow this, but support it too? Apparently that’s how safe spaces work. In order to protect people from imaginary threats, it’s important to be as racist as possible.

DOW HITS 22,000 FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER AS APPLE SURGES ON EARNINGS
Apple's stock drove the Dow Jones industrial average above 22,000.
The tech giant's shares surged nearly 6 percent in the premarket after posting quarterly results that blew expectations out of the water.

The 30-stock index climbed about 43 points at the open, receiving a boost from Apple's stock, which surged nearly 6 percent in the premarket after posting quarterly results that blew expectations out of the water.
The company reported earnings per share of $1.67 on revenue of $45.4 billion. Analysts polled by Reuters expected earnings per share of $1.57 on revenue of $44.89 billion.
Drexel Hamilton analyst Brian White said in a note he sees more upside for the stock moving forward. He said: "[W]e believe investors will now feel more confident in owning the stock for the upcoming iPhone 8 cycle that is expected to begin this fall, while also benefitting from the company's capital distribution initiative, attractive valuation and potential new innovations."
If White's assessment is correct, that could mean further gains for the Dow as well. Entering Wednesday's session, Apple's stock was the sixth-largest in terms of price. The Dow is a price-weighted index.

Wall Street set to open higher as Dow approaches 22,000 milestone

The Dow Jones industrial average notched another milestone on Wednesday, breaking above 22,000 for the first time.

If White's assessment is correct, that could mean further gains for the Dow as well. Entering Wednesday's session, Apple's stock was the sixth-largest in terms of price. The Dow is a price-weighted index.
It took the Dow just over five months to surge to 22,000 from 21,000. Boeing shares have had the biggest points impact on the price-weighted Dow, contributing 380.29 points since March 1, followed by McDonald's and UnitedHealth Group with 171.14 and 166.35 points, respectively.
The broader tech sector, which has been under pressure lately, could regain its footing, said Mark Newton, managing member at Newton Advisors. "Given that Tech and particularly 'FANG' stocks have been under pressure over the last couple weeks, this very well might serve as a positive catalyst if these levels can hold through Wednesday's close," he said in a note.
Shares of Amazon, Google-parent Alphabet and Netflix followed Apple higher, lifting the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 higher.
Wall Street also set its sights on key economic data. Private U.S. companies added 178,000 jobs last month, according to a report from ADP and Moody's Analytics. But economist polled by Reuters expected an increase of 185,000 jobs.
"[A]t least according to ADP, job growth still remains good and certainly better than what the BLS has said. The BLS estimate for the private sector is 180k on Friday," said Peter Boockvar, chief market analyst at The Lindsey Group, in a note.
"Either way, job growth north of 150k is still enough to put continued downward pull on the unemployment rate and Friday's estimate is for a one tenth decline to 4.3% which would match the lowest level since 2001 and more reason for [quantitative tightening] to start in September," Boockvar said.
Investors have been keeping a close eye on U.S. economic data as they look for clues on when the Federal Reserve will further tighten monetary policy. Wall Street is largely expecting the Fed to hold off on raising interest rates again until at least December, but is expecting the central bank to start rolling off its massive balance sheet next month.
U.S. Treasury yields rose on Wednesday, with the benchmark 10-year yield near 2.26 percent and the two-year yield around 1.359 percent.
In the commodities market, U.S. crude prices fluctuated between gains and losses ahead of the Energy Information Administration's weekly release of inventories data. West Texas Intermediate futures traded at $49.24 a barrel as of 9:07 a.m. in New York.

Sen. John McCain Backed Into a Corner, Refuses to Tell Authorities Where He Got 9 Million Dollars From…
Aug 1, 2017 by William Smith
The question we all want to know, is where did it come from? John McCain keeps hiding and refuses to answer that question!
What we do know, thanks to an investigation by The Daily Caller, is that the McCain Institute for International Leadership received a VERY GENEROUS donation from none other than George Soros.
The institute is intended to serve as a “legacy” for McCain. It “is dedicated to advancing human rights, dignity, democracy and freedom”. It is also a tax-exempt non-profit foundation with assets valued at $8.1 million and associated with Arizona State University.
John McCain turned over nearly $9 million in unspent funds from his failed 2008 presidential campaign to a new foundation bearing his name, the McCain Institute for International Leadership.
His legacy should be that of a traitor, after derogatory remarks about a sitting president said while over seas. #justSayin.
But McCain has very deliberately refused to release a list of donors and the dollar amounts they provided.
So, we know that Soros gave a lot of money. And we know that the McCain Institute got even more from other parties, but that he’s not going to tell us who.
The DC gives us more:
Critics worry that the institute’s donors and McCain’s personal leadership in the organization’s exclusive “Sedona Forum” bear an uncanny resemblance to the glitzy Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) that annually co-mingled special interests and powerful political players in alleged pay-to-play schemes.
The institute has accepted contributions of as much as $100,000 from billionaire liberal activist-funder George Soros and from Teneo, a for-profit company co-founded by Doug Band, former President Bill Clinton’s “bag man.”
Teneo has long helped enrich Clinton through lucrative speaking and business deals.
And Bloomberg reported in 2016 on a $1 million Saudi Arabian donation to the institute, a contribution the McCain group has refused to explain publicly.
In addition, the institute has taken at least $100,000 from a Moroccan state-run company tied to repeated charges of worker abuse and exploitation. The McCain group has also accepted at least $100,000 from the Pivotal Foundation. It was created by Francis Najafi who owns the Pivotal Group, a private equity and real estate firm.
What exactly is John McCain doing behind closed doors? What is he doing for Soros to get all that financial love?
Charles Ortel, a retired Wall Street investment banker and philanthropy law expert, told The DC that “high government officials such as John McCain, [former Secretary of State] Hillary Clinton and President Barack Obama should not get involved with vehicles like these where substantial sums can be funneled over time in ways that at best, reeks of impropriety and at worse are public corruption.”
The institute’s donations suggest special pleading before the senator. They also in some instances appear to contradict McCain’s vision of human rights and national security.
John McCain is no better than Obama and Hillary. He lost all conservative credentials years ago. It is high time that he is retired.
I used to have respect for his service. He has almost destroyed that. Cant the Hanoi Hilton take him back? Did I say that?

"I pray God to send a few men with what the Americans call “grit” in them; men who when they know a thing to be right, will not turn away, or turn aside, or stop, men who will persevere all the more because there are difficulties to meet or foes to encounter; who stand all the more true to their Master because they are opposed; who, the more they are thrust into the fire, the hotter they become, who, just like the bow, the further the string is drawn, the more powerfully will it send forth its arrows, and so, the more they are trodden upon, the more mighty will they become in the cause of truth against error." -- Charles H. Elitist CNN Pundit Blames the Little People for Electing Donald Trump
CNN's Fareed Zakaria could not be more out of touch if he deliberately tried to be.

Don’t you just love it when a person who has no idea what you’re thinking, what you’re feeling, what you believe… turns around and tells you why you do what you do?(this is
what most looneyliberals, here on dh in this forum, do...)
Zakaria has never spent any time getting to know those of us in “flyover country.” His decision to speak for us and for “why” we do what we do is insulting, and he’s just plain wrong.
Electing Trump wasn’t an attempt to thumb our noses at the establishment or the elites, their upset was just a happy by-product. No, electing Trump was about saving America from the precipitous descent that we found ourselves in.
The vote for Trump was a last-ditch effort to save the Western world from destruction.

Trump, GOP senators unveil measure to cut legal immigration
By Jordan Fabian and Jordain Carney - 08/02/17 11:41 AM EDT
Trump, GOP senators unveil measure to cut legal immigration
© WhiteHouse.gov
President Trump on Wednesday teamed up with two conservative Republican senators to roll out new legislation aimed at dramatically curbing legal immigration to the United States, a key Trump campaign promise.
Sens. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) and David Perdue (R-Ga.) have been working with White House officials to revise and expand a bill released earlier this year that would halve the number of people who receive legal permanent residence over a decade.
The senators joined Trump at a White House ceremony to announce out the measure.
They say the legislation would move the United States to a "merit-based" immigration system and away from the current model, which is largely based on family ties.
The measure reflects Trump’s rhetoric during the 2016 campaign, when he argued that the spike in legal immigration over the past several decades has taken job opportunities away from American citizens and threatened national security.
Trump met with Cotton and Perdue in March to discuss the legislation, known as the Reforming American Immigration for a Strong Economy (RAISE) Act.
The president touted the measure in a speech last week in Youngstown, Ohio.
“Instead of today's low-skilled system — which is a terrible system where anyone comes in, people who have never worked, people that are criminals, anyone comes in — we want a merit-based system,” he said. “One that protects our workers, protects our taxpayers, and one that protects our economy.”
Cotton and Perdue’s legislation would mark a dramatic change in U.S. immigration laws, and could open up a nasty internal fight among Republicans.
The legislation would eliminate immigration preferences currently given to extended family members and adult children of U.S. citizens seeking green cards, and cap the number of accepted refugees at 50,000 — half of the Obama administration’s target for 2017.
It would also end the State Department's Diversity visa lottery, which the senators say is “plagued with fraud.” The program had been allotted 50,000 visas for the 2018 fiscal year.
Around 1 million immigrants receive green cards per year.
The legislation faces an uphill battle in the Senate, where it’s expected to get pushback from Democrats as well as GOP senators who oppose strict limits on legal immigration and want a broader reform effort that would address the roughly 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the U.S.
If Cotton and Perdue can get GOP leadership to bring the legislation up for a vote, supporters will need to cobble together 60 senators, including at least eight Democrats, to agree to start debate on the legislation.
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and a handful of Republicans — including GOP Sens. Jeff Flake (Ariz.), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), Dean Heller (Nev.) — have been working on bills this year to allow undocumented immigrants who entered the country as children to, at least temporarily, remain in the country legally.
Hundreds of thousands of undocumented immigrants have been granted temporary reprieves from deportation under the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. But DACA does not confer legal status on immigrants.
Cotton and Perdue would need to win over their votes, as well as Sen. John McCain. The Arizona Republican, who is currently undergoing cancer treatment, was critical of their earlier bill.
The White House roll out could give the legislation a boost of momentum, but the earlier version of the Cotton-Perdue bill garnered zero cosponsors.
Critics of the measure say it would devastate families’ effort to reunite with their overseas relatives while providing few economic benefits.

Former Obama aide Ben Rhodes is now a person of interest in the unmasking investigation
By Sara A. Carter

Former Obama White House National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes is now emerging as a person of interest in the House Intelligence Committee’s unmasking investigation, according to a letter sent Tuesday by the committee to the National Security Agency (NSA). This adds Rhodes to the growing list of top Obama government officials who may have improperly unmasked Americans in communications intercepted overseas by the NSA, Circa has confirmed.
The House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes, R-CA, sent the letter to the National Security Agency requesting the number of unmaskings made by Rhodes from Jan. 1, 2016 to Jan. 20, 2017, according to congressional sources who spoke with Circa. Rhodes, who worked closely with former National Security Adviser Susan Rice and was a former deputy national security adviser for strategic communications for President Obama, became a focus of the committee during its review of classified information to assess whether laws were broken regarding NSA intercepted communications of President Trump, members of his administration and other Americans before and after the election, according to congressional officials. The committee is requesting that the NSA deliver the information on Rhodes by August, 21.
Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power, Rice and former CIA Director John Brennan have all been named in the House Intelligence Committee's investigation into the unmasking of Americans. A letter sent last week from Nunes to Dan Coats, the director of National Intelligence, suggested that top Obama aides made hundreds of unmasking requests during the 2016 presidential elections. The story, which was first reported by The Hill last week, stated that the requests were made without specific justifications as to why the unmasking was necessary. Rice and Brennan have confirmed they sought the unredacted names of Americans in NSA-sourced intelligence reports but insisted their requests were routine parts of their work and had no nefarious intentions. Power also has legal authority to unmask officials, though the practice has not reportedly been common for someone in her position. Rhodes also had legal authority to unmask Americans in NSA-source intelligence reports. But intelligence and congressional sources question the extent of the unmasking.
Nunes told Coats in a letter last week that the committee has "found evidence that current and former government officials had easy access to U.S. person information and that it is possible that they used this information to achieve partisan political purposes, including the selective, anonymous leaking of such information.”
Multiple federal law enforcement and intelligence officials told Circa, that requesting an unmasking for intelligence and analytical purposes is something that is done only when the information is absolutely necessary to analyze a specific threat or for other national security purposes. An intelligence source, with direct knowledge of the type of requests made by the Obama aides, said "it's like hell and high water to fill out and gain approval for these types of unmaskings. It's something analysts take seriously and could entail filling out 80 pages of paperwork to prove there is a need to unmask. If top officials were unmasking without oversight it's something everyone should be concerned about and it puts our intelligence community in a very bad place."
Retired House Intelligence Committee Chairman Pete Hoekstra, (R-MI) and nominee to be U.S. ambassador to the Netherlands, who was a supporter of the NSA programs, said he is "deeply concerned" that there may have been an abuse of power regarding the warrantless spying programs, saying "there needs to be a full investigation into who was being unmasked and why. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if there isn't enough votes to reauthorize the program, unless this situation can be resolved."
Hoekstra noted how unusual it was for senior officials to request hundreds of unmaskings of Americans and "the apparent lack of explanation for why such unmaskings were necessary."
The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act is set to expire at the end of the year and the most significant part of the act is Section 702, which allows a secret federal court to approve - under specified conditions - the collection of communications on foreign persons overseas at the request of the intelligence community. The unmasking of American's occurs when an American is communicating with a person overseas and they are incidentally swept up in the communications.
"It appears Section 702 became a backdoor for unmasking Americans without cause and if that is the case then a full investigation is not only needed but warranted," said another intelligence official, with direct knowledge of the program. "It would be a gross violation of Constitutional rights."
Last week, CNN reported Rhodes met with the Senate Intelligence Committee to discuss the Russia probe. The panel did not respond to comment seeking confirmation of the meeting.
Rice and Brennan have confirmed they sought the unredacted names of Americans in NSA-sourced intelligence reports but insisted their requests were routine parts of their work and had no nefarious intentions. Power, as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations also has legal authority to unmask officials, though the practice has not reportedly been common for someone in her position. Rhodes, who served as deputy national security adviser, also had legal authority to unmask Americans in NSA-source intelligence reports. But intelligence and congressional sources question the extent of the unmasking.
The number of Americans' identities who have been unmasked appears to have increased beginning last July around the same time Trump secured the GOP nomination. The number accelerated after Trump’s election in November launched a transition that continued through January, as reported by Circa.
U.S. officials and lawmakers have raised concern that the gathering of such intelligence was used for political espionage, Circa has learned.

According to U.S. officials who spoke to Circa on condition of anonymity, the intelligence reports included some intercepts of Americans talking to foreigners and many more involving foreign leaders talking about the future president, his campaign associates or his transition. They noted that most of the intercepts had little to do with the Russian election interference scandal and some appeared to have nothing to do with national security.
During his last year in office the Obama administration significantly expanded efforts to search National Security Agency intercepts for information about Americans, distributing thousands of intelligence reports across government with the unredacted names of U.S. residents during the midst of a divisive 2016 presidential election. The data was made available by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, and reported by Circa in May. It provided evidence of how information accidentally collected by the NSA overseas about Americans was subsequently searched and disseminated after the Obama administration loosened privacy protections asked for by the intelligence community to make such sharing easier in 2011.
According to the documents reviewed by Circa, government officials conducted 30,355 searches in 2016 seeking information about Americans in NSA intercept meta-data, which include telephone numbers and email addresses. The activity was a 27.5 percent increase over the prior year and more than triple the 9,500 such searches that occurred in 2013, the first year such data was kept. In 2016 the administration also scoured the actual contents of NSA intercepted calls and emails for 5,288 Americans, an increase of 13 percent over the prior year and a massive spike from the 198 names searched in 2013, according to the data.

From The Federalist: Obama directed the Office of Personnel Management to issue a rule purporting that Congress, which has thousands of employees, is a small business. Publicly, they claimed each individual House and Senate office would file as a small employer. But that was a lie. Instead, the House filed as one small employer and the Senate filed as one. Each claimed to have fewer than 50 employees. Then they signed up 12,000 people. We only know about the filings thanks to Freedom of Information Act litigation by Judicial Watch. These filings are the smoking gun. This can all sound very complicated. But Congress pretending to be a small business is very simple. And it is impossible to defend a scheme that relies on blatantly false documents.
Trump Should End Obama’s Bailout of Congress’s Health Care
The taxpayer health care bailout for members of Congress is very real, worth about $12,000 per year for each, and utterly indefensible.

Clinton insider D*ck Morris has revealed that something very disturbing is going on just 2 miles away from the White House. Barack Obama has leased offices near Capitol Hill, and now, reports are coming in that one of those offices is getting really active with many people coming and going at a frenzy-like pace. Morris found out what is going on inside that office, and you'll be shocked at what he has to say.

Do you know Algore's house uses 34 times more electricity than the average U.S. home?
Thirty-four times more than the average electricity, and yet nobody calls him on it.
EXCLUSIVE: Al Gore’s Home Devours 34 Times More Electricity Than Average U.S. Household
On Friday, Al Gore’s sequel to “An Inconvenient Truth” – "An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power” – arrives in movie theaters across the country. But there’s another inconvenient sequel worth noting and, like most sequels, this one is even worse than the original.
Gore’s hypocritical home energy use and “do as I say not as I do” lifestyle has plunged to embarrassing new depths.
In just this past year, Gore burned through enough energy to power the typical American household for more than 21 years, according to a new report by the National Center for Public Policy Research. The former vice president consumed 230,889 kilowatt hours (kWh) at his Nashville residence, which includes his home, pool and driveway entry gate electricity meters. A typical family uses an average of 10,812 kWh of electricity per year, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
It gets worse.
Last September alone, Gore devoured 30,993 kWh of electricity. That’s enough to power 34 average American homes for a month. Over the last 12 months, Gore used more electricity just heating his outdoor swimming pool than six typical homes use in a year.
Completing this poll entitles you to Daily Caller news updates free of charge. You may opt out at anytime. You also agree to our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
The National Center for Public Policy Research obtained the environmentalist’s energy usage information from individuals at the Nashville Electric Service, the utility that provides electricity to Gore’s home and much of Middle Tennessee.
In 2007, the day after Gore won an Academy Award for “An Inconvenient Truth,” I revealed Gore’s hypocritically high electric bills. In some months, I discovered, his residence gobbled up to 20 times more electricity than the average American household.
When Gore’s inconvenient truth became public knowledge, he promised to change his ways and gave his property a green makeover. Gore added 33 solar panels at a princely price tag of approximately $60,000. He also upgraded the home’s windows and ductwork, replaced the insulation, put in a driveway rainwater collection system, and installed a geothermal heating system.
The Nobel laureate also heroically went to the trouble of replacing his incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescent ones.
In total, the renovation are estimated to cost well over $250,000.
But the home’s green facelift wasn’t enough to offset Gore’s colossal energy consumption.
Despite spending more than a quarter-million dollars on making his home more environmentally friendly, his energy consumption is higher than ever.
Those 33 solar panels generate about 12,000 kWh of electricity a year – way more than enough energy to power a typical American household. Gore is such an enormous energy hog, however, that his gigantic rooftop solar array produces just 5.7 percent of the electricity he uses in his home, or enough to power his home for a measly 21 days a year.
Gore also claims that his environmental sins are washed clean because he contributes to Green Power Switch, a scheme in which customers can donate extra money beyond the cost of their power bill to support green energy efforts. The money goes to the Tennessee Velley Authority (TVA), the source of NES’ electricity, to fund renewable energy projects.
Gore even told the “TODAY Show” that his home uses 100 percent renewable energy, but that is an outright lie.
Just because Gore donates to the Green Power Switch program doesn’t mean he receives green energy at his home. Gore gets the same electricity every other Nashville resident receives – 87 percent of which comes from nuclear, coal and natural gas power plants. About 10 percent of Gore’s electricity comes from the TVA’s environmentally devastating dams. Only a puny 3 percent comes from renewable sources such as solar and wind.
Not counting the $432 a month Gore spends on his Green Power Switch indulgences, the green extremist shells out about $22,000 a year to pay his electric bills.
Spending more than $1,800 a month on an energy bill would sink most Americans, but it’s pocket change to Gore. He has manipulated environmental concerns into a big business. When his term as vice president ended in 2001, Gore’s net worth was less than $2 million. Today, Gore is worth an estimated $300 million.
Gore apologists argue that his large home is the reason for his massive energy consumption. That’s not true, either.
According to Energy Vanguard, a company devoted to making homes more energy efficient, a residence that uses less than 10 kWh of electricity per square foot each year is considered “efficient.” Homes that gulp down more than 20 kWh of electricity per square foot each year are labeled “energy hogs.” Gore’s house consumed 22.9 kWh per square foot in the past 12 months making him a huge energy hog by any measure.
Astonishingly, Gore also owns at least two other homes – a penthouse in San Francisco and a farmhouse in Carthage, Tennessee – so his carbon footprint is even larger than it appears.
The former veep has become a prophet of environmentalism, a religion he helped create. But he is a false prophet. He appears to exploit his followers for recognition and money, and it’s unclear whether he actually believes a word he says.
Al Gore is happy to talk the talk, but has proven completely unwilling to walk the walk when it comes to living a green lifestyle – and that should make every person question the messenger as well as the message.…

261 “Sanctuary Cities” to Lose Millions in Funding; Here’s The List
August 1, 2017 By Calvin Freiburger
The Trump Administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration continues with further pressure on sanctuary cities.
The Daily Signal reports that the Justice Department has confirmed that it will block Byrne Justice Assistance Grants, which account for the lion’s share of federal aid to states and localities for criminal justice, from sanctuary cities, specifically jurisdictions that keep Immigration and Customs Enforcement from talking to local officials and interviewing inmates, or not notifying ICE when they release aliens ICE wants to deport.
It is significant because a large share of the funds awarded in this program go to sanctuary jurisdictions. For example, according to Justice Department records, the four largest grants, and seven out of the top 10 recipients of the Byrne/JAG grants are sanctuaries.
Under the new rules announced by Attorney General Jeff Sessions, these four top grant-getters (New York City; Cook County, Illinois; Los Angeles; and Philadelphia) are likely to be disqualified from these grants in the future if they maintain their current policies toward ICE.
These cities received more than $10 million in grants in 2016.
See the table below for a list of sanctuary jurisdictions that received Byrne/JAG grants in 2016. Sanctuary jurisdictions received $32.7 million in 2016.
So a whopping 261 sanctuary cities are about to feel the squeeze. This move is particularly fitting because, as seen above, among those flouting federal law are the biggest beneficiaries of federal money. If they insist on going without one, they should have no problem going without the other, right? Who can possibly have a problem with that?
Amid all the chaos, failure, and uncertainty on other issues in Washington DC, it’s incredibly reassuring to see the administration continuing to nail the problem of sanctuary cities, while showing no signs of slowing down.

Judicial Watch releases huge batch of Clinton-Huma emails
by Anneta Griffee/ August 2, 2017/ POLITICS
Conservative watchdog group, Judicial Watch, has released a “motherlode” of documents Tuesday from the U.S. Department of State, pertaining to the period when Hillary Clinton was secretary of state.
The massive dump of 1,606 pages of documents was the result of a lawsuit Judicial Watch filed against the State Department on May 5, 2015, after the department failed to respond to a Freedom of Information Act request. A federal court order later mandated that the State Department start turning over the documents, at a minimum of 400 pages per month.
Judicial Watch had specifically requested: “All emails of official State Department business received or sent by former Deputy Chief of Staff Huma Abedin from January 1, 2009, through February 1, 2013, using a non-‘state.gov’ email address.”
Hillary Clinton had testified that “as far as she knew,” all her government-related emails had been turned over to the State Department. However, among the documents received are 91 additional Clinton email exchanges that had not previously been turned over to the State Department by Clinton – bringing the total to at least 530 known emails that had “slipped through the cracks.”
Included in the documents are emails from Abedin that came from an unsecured, non-government account.
The documents prove repeated instances of passing classified information through unsecured methods, including many times when donors to the Clinton Foundation received special favors from Clinton’s State Department.
In some of the documents, Clinton or her staff showed an interest in visiting Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez and North Korean dictator Kim Jong Il.
Additional examples include:
March 12, 2009 – Sid Blumenthal, former aid to Bill Clinton, sent Hillary Clinton a memo about Northern Ireland that was classified.
January 22, 2010 – Deputy Chief of Staff Jack Sullivan sent an email containing classified information about a phone call to the Chinese Foreign Minister.
Warren Buffet’s grandson, Howard Buffett Jr., sent an email asking for a meeting between his father and Hillary Clinton, to discuss “food security.” The Buffet family are huge donors to the Clintons and the Clinton Foundation. Abedin promises, “We will take care of this.”
April 12, 2009 – A $1 million donor to the Clinton Library and a member of the Clinton Global Initiative, Puerto Rican Miguel Lausell, put in a request to Abedin through Doub Band of the Clinton Foundation, asking for a certain person to be appointed as U.S. ambassador to the Dominican Republic. The message was passed on to Clinton’s assistant with the order to “make sure there is a response.”
April 3, 2009 – Kelly Craighead, then director of left-wing fundraising group Democracy Alliance, emailed Abedin asking for an “extremely loyal supporter” to be granted a position at the State Department. The response came back that the person “was on everyone’s list/grid.”
April 2010 – Craighead sent Abedin another request asking for a “dear friend” to be given a job at the State Department. Abedin replied, “Looking into this asap.”
Judicial Watch provided further examples, shared below:
At least one senior State Department official refused to send a classified document to Abedin’s account. Joseph E. MacManus, then-executive assistant to the secretary, told Abedin that a draft outline paper of Richard Holbrooke’s goals for a Pakistan trip “is classified so it cannot go by blackberry email.” As a result, MacManus sent the document through classified channels. Clinton signed the document and gave it to her communications people to transmit. But the communications team, wanting to send it by secure channels, waited till the following day to send it. That delay caused Cheryl Mills to inquire about the delay, which produced an abject apology by State Department official Daniel Smith to Mills: “I’m very sorry about what happened and that we all let the Secretary down.”
On April 16, 2009, Clinton aide Lona Valmoro asked Abedin if Clinton wanted to skip a meeting on “cyber security” in favor of a meeting on “Global Philanthropy.” Valmoro adds: “Jen said that Rice [presumably Condoleezza] rarely went to these, FYI.”
On April 23, 2010, Abedin tried to set up a secure call for Clinton with Dennis [last name unknown], but it didn’t connect, and Clinton said, “We’ve now tried twice to go secure and lost both calls.” After Abedin tells her she had tested the secure line, Clinton says “We finally gave up and talked in code nonsecure.”
Billionaire J.B. Pritzker emailed Band on March 21, 2009, asking him to forward the email to Clinton “via a non-govt email account.” The email, addressed to Abedin, references President Obama’s treatment of Netanyahu and Clinton’s speech the next day at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) conference and warns that there is “lots of deep concern at Obama (even all the Dems here) … I know it seems obvious, but during the presentation tomorrow I suggest focusing on Iran, Iran, and Iran.” Pritzker attaches an article by Lloyd Grove entitled “Jewish Anger: Will There Be Historic Break from the Dems?” Band forwards the email to Abedin without comment.
The same night Abedin emailed Clinton, saying, “pir [Philippe Reines] mentioned that if you plan to call potus tonite or tomorrow, he wants to leak it.”

On February 12, 2010, Abedin emailed Cooper, who helped administer Clinton’s non-government email server, about a fax she sent for Clinton with information about upcoming foreign dignitary calls. Cooper replies, “K. I can just print it.” Abedin responds, “Cool. Thank you.” Cooper then says, “Still waitin on secure.” Further on in the exchange, Abedin says, “Sending now.” It appears that Cooper, who was not a State Department employee and did not possess a security clearance, according to the Washington Examiner, was helping troubleshoot a secure fax machine used to transmit government documents to the Secretary of State.
In a follow up email, Abedin tells Cooper “I HATE SECURE FAXES.” Cooper responds, “Its coming in. I cld redesign system in 5 min prob.” Abedin replies, “Uh yeah. You have no idea.”
On April 16, 2009, State Department staffer Jennifer Davis sent a document prepared for Clinton by National Security Advisor Tom Donilon to Clinton’s and Abedin’s BlackBerries. Abedin was unable to read the PDF file on her BlackBerry due to the fine print so diplomat Lewis Lukens asked Davis to send the document to two other State Department officials, Paul and Courtney. Davis replies, “Already sent to Paul (on low-side) [unsecure] … Will send to plane now (on highside) for Paul and Courtney.”
In a March 20, 2009, advisory email to Clinton, retired General Jack Keane advised her that to conquer the Afghan insurgency, the then-commander of U.S. forces in Afghanistan, Gen. David McKiernan, was “not the leader to get us there.” He concluded his message with “Please keep these scribblings for your eyes only.”
On a number of occasions Hillary Clinton’s daily schedule was shared with the Clinton Foundation.
On February 9, 2010, Valmoro forwarded Clinton’s sensitive daily schedule for February 10, 2010, to Clinton Foundation officials. On Feb. 22, 2010, Valmoro forwarded Hillary Clinton’s daily schedule for February 23, 2010, to foundation officials, including Band, Cooper, and Terry Krinvic. On April 4, 2010, Valmoro forwarded the daily schedule for April 5 to foundation officials. And on May 18, 2010, Valmoro again forwarded the schedule for May 19, 2010, to foundation employees.
Two emails show Secretary Clinton or her staff expressing an interest in visiting two brutal dictators.
On April 18, 2009, Abedin told Senior Advisor Philippe Reines that Clinton had “an encounter” with Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez, who “complimented wjc [Bill Clinton], said he hoped she would come to venezuela, she said she hoped so too.” Reines expressed concern, saying “Was the encounter on camera or widely seen?” Abedin responds: “Seen by a dozen people. A photog came in and took a photo at the end.” Reines replies, “Who went up to whom?”
Veteran diplomat Wendy Sherman sent a message to State officials on February 6, 2009, advising them to send a message to North Korean dictator Kim Jung Il that Hillary Clinton “looks forward to the day when enough progress is made that she can come to NK as well.”
The emails reveal more instances of Tony Rodham seeking to leverage his influence as Clinton’s brother.
On January 29, 2010, Confidential Assistant Monica Hanley forwarded to Abedin a request from Tony Rodham, on three issues. One involved help on a “green card renewal,” another involved a visit by someone of which Abedin said they “wanted to regret,” and a third involved a job for someone whose CV Rodham forwarded to State. It appears that Tony Rodham was seeking to help someone caught up in a criminal case involving Micheil Saakashvili, the then president of the Republic of Georgia. The Rodham friend was having difficulty getting a green card due to his arrest, which he said was political retribution by Saakashvili. Abedin told Hanley to tell him the request “has been passed to DHS.”
On March 18, 2010, Rodham sent Hanley the resume of someone looking for a job. Monica passed to Abedin, asking: “Do you want me to call [Redacted] or pass along to WHL [White House Liaison]?” Abedin replies: “Call and find out interests.”
Other emails reveal details of the inner workings of Clinton’s State Department.
On Apr. 17, 2009, Abedin tells colleagues Valmoro, Andrew Shapiro, Philippe Reines, Mills and Jake Sullivan in an email with the subject line “Aipac” that, “Calls from our friends in the jewish community are now getting ugly. I don’t understand who’s taking charge here.” The reference is likely to a book that had just been released called The Way of the Knife: The CIA, a Secret Army, and a War at the Ends of the Earth that disclosed that the NSA had intercepted former Rep. Jane Harman on the phone about her efforts to intervene with the Bush Administration on behalf of two AIPAC officials being investigated for espionage.
On September 11, 2010, Blumenthal forwarded an article/audio clip from Think Progress about a Republican congressman arguing that they should force a government shutdown if necessary to cut the “gangrene” out of government. Blumenthal advised Clinton that the White House “should use this on all the Sunday shows” and “Name Boehner. Force Boehner out.”
On February 26, 2010, noting the absence of Mills and Bill Burns, Clinton tells Abedin that “the whole point” of a photo shoot that day “is to show a team that is diverse in every way. That won’t happen and I am worried about that.”
On November 14, 2011, Abedin tells Clinton she’s going to have to stay at a “horrible Sheraton,” where President Obama would be staying, and asks if she’s open to another hotel. Clinton responds that “it would be hard not to be in same hotel as POTUS so try to get best option there.”
On November 30, 2011, Abedin tells Clinton she’ll have to stay at a “second tier hotel” in Burma because “the nice hotel owner was problematic.” The “second tier hotel” room is a suite with “a room nearby large enough to accommodate more people.”
“Pay to play, classified information mishandling, influence peddling, cover ups – these new emails show why the criminal investigation into Hillary Clinton’s conduct must be resumed,” stated Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton. “The Trump Justice Department and FBI need to reassure the American people they have finally stopped providing political protection to Hillary Clinton.”

Quitting On Obamacare, Congress Votes In Record Time To Grant Themselves Better Protection
Posted by Georgette Walrath | Aug 2, 2017 | American Strength
The House voted unanimously to increase taxpayer funding of their home and office security.
When lawmakers have the opportunity to pass legislation that influences their own personal safety, wealth, or healthcare, there’s never any delays. Last week, House members unanimously voted to take taxpayer funds and use it to beef up security at their personal homes.
The non-binding move was introduced by Representative Mia Love and provides money for lawmakers to add security systems, in addition to the increase they recently approved concerning district office security.
There’s no doubt that congressional members need better security. The liberal elites running Washington, D.C. have established some of the most stringent gun laws in the nation. As a result, protecting life and liberty in the country’s capitol is difficult.

I Cracked the Code: Here’s the Democrat Plan to Destroy President Trump
Wayne Root
August 3, 2017
President Trump has miraculously turned the economy around. Second quarter GDP (Trump’s first full quarter as President) was far ahead of anything produced by Obama; corporate profits are soaring; job growth is phenomenal; the stock market is at all-time highs; the manufacturers optimism index is the highest in history; and the US oil rig count has doubled under Trump.
This is the Democrats worst nightmare. Despite all the chaos and firings in the Trump administration, President Trump is delivering for middle class voters. Americans don’t care about Sean Spicer, Reince Priebus or Anthony Scaramucci. They care about jobs, rising incomes, their retirement accounts.
Am I right? Ask the DNC. They just commissioned a poll of middle class voters. http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2017/07/365207/
It found the middle-class trusts Trump by a whopping 35 points over Democrats to improve the economy. On the initial Congressional ballot, middle class voters give Republicans a double-digit victory. Democrats are in deep trouble.
That’s why they have to destroy the Trump presidency. All the big government, Nanny State, establishment frauds are desperate to stop Trump. These are the people, politicians, bureaucrats and big businesses who benefit from the gravy train…who benefit from government jobs, contracts, pensions, and big spending boondoggles like global warming and Obamacare. I’m talking about the entire Washington DC.
I’m the guy who predicted Trump’s victory when no one else saw it coming. My book, “ANGRY WHITE MALE” predicted the entire Trump phenomenon. I predicted it would look exactly like “Brexit” and it did.
Now I’ve figured out the exact plan Democrats and their allies will use to try to drive Trump from office. It’s brilliant, vicious, devious, genius. Trump’s opponents are baiting him with something so awful…so fraudulent…so vicious…he has no choice but to take the bait. And then they’ll try to hang him with it.
First, they framed Trump with their own scandal. The Democrats are the ones with a Russian scandal. Hillary is the one who sold the uranium to Russia. Hillary is the one with a “play for pay” scheme at the State Department. Hillary is the one who took bribes disguised as charitable donations to her Clinton Foundation in return for access, favors and government contracts.
It was Hillary’s campaign manager John Podesta who served on the Board of a green energy company backed by Vladimir Putin and the Russian government.
http://nypost.com/2017/07/05/uncovering-the-russia-ties-of-hillarys-campaign-chief/
It was Podesta’s brother Tony who got rich by lobbying for a Russian bank.
http://www.rollcall.com/news/politics/trump-questions-russia-lobbying-by-clinton-campaign-chiefs-brother
It was Obama who knew about the attempts by Russia to influence America’s elections and did nothing.
http://www.cnn.com/2017/06/23/politics/vladmir-putin-russia-election/index.html
So, distract the masses by blaming your Russian scandal on Trump. Then slander and libel him with the mainstream media’s cooperation, using a stream of leaks and unnamed sources.
Then use those same lies and slander literally made up by the NY Times, Washington Post and CNN to justify a “Special Counsel” being named.
Then make sure he’s a big government insider and FOD (Friend of Democrats) with a hatred for Trump. Robert Mueller perfectly fits the bill. Mueller’s law firm has given 99.71% of donations to Democrats. He’s best friends with former FBI Director Comey, who also hates Trump. Then have Mueller name a “murderers row” of killer prosecutors who have given all of their political donations to Obama and Hillary.
This is one of the most obscene conflict of interest in political history. This is like asking the KKK to investigate the NAACP. This is a conspiracy in plain sight. The fix is in. But of course, the media won’t report it, because they are on the side of the conspiracy.
Then use Mueller, this vicious, conflicted ringer and deep state plant, who hates Trump and does the bidding of the Democrat Party and the entire DC establishment, to frame Trump, break every conflict of interest law, go far beyond any of his legal parameters, go after Trump’s family and lifetime business dealings, and commit massive abuse of power so obscene, that Trump has no choice but to fire him.
Mueller is daring Trump to fire him…egging him on…begging him. Mueller’s goal is so obvious it’s almost comical. Mueller is dying to be a guest on “Celebrity Apprentice” so he can hear Trump say “YOU’RE FIRED.”
Then when Trump inevitably fires Mueller, Democrats and “never-Trumpers” will use the corrupt, biased, Trump-hating, mainstream media to paint Trump as a bad guy with something to hide. They’ll paint him as a corrupt, reckless, lawless dictator.
They’ll use Trump’s legal action (because a President can fire whoever he wants) to foment public outrage; coast to coast protests, civil disobedience, rioting and anarchy; impeachment proceedings; and calls for forced removal from office- for all intents and purposes, a coup against our President.
That kind of unrest in the streets would invariably lead to a loss of confidence among stock investors and buyers of the U.S. treasury bonds- leading to economic crisis and chaos; stock market crash; dollar crisis; debt crisis; in short, economic collapse.
Then liberals and Trump-haters get to blame it all on Trump
Democrats know they’ve got to change the narrative- fast. They’ve got to stop Trump’s momentum. They’ve got to blame Trump and frame Trump. They will use the firing of corrupt and conflicted Special Counselor Mueller as the catalyst for all of this.
This is a slow-moving “silent coup.” This is an overthrow of the President of the United States.
Trust me- it’s all coming. Get ready for the battle of our lives. I know where I stand. I know where 63 million Trump voters stand. We are relentless. Trump is our hero.
Mr. President, we have your back.

A new precedent was set in the world of political correctness at the University of Minnesota last week.
Straight White Students Banned From University Of Minnesota Safe Space
August 3, 2017
As The Daily Caller reports, the school’s Gender and Sexuality Center for Queer and Trans Life hosts a group called “Tongues Untied,” providing a space in which people flock to discuss gender, race and sexuality.
Unless they’re white and straight.
“For our allies: we do appreciate your voices and commitment to dismantling racism and homophobia,” says Tongues Untied’s U of M page.
“However, please note that this is a space created for LGBTQIA and/or same-gender-loving people of color.”
“Tongues Untied is a space that was created by and for indigenous people and people of color who identify as queer and/or trans,” the group’s Facebook page states. “If you identify as a queer and/or trans indigenous person or person of color, we welcome you to take part in our discussions.”
A video for Tongues Untied is available on the Office for Equity & Diversity’s YouTube channel.
Jason Jackson, a student services professional at U of M, describes the program as “a discussion group for transgender, lesbian, gay, bisexual, same-gender loving and two-spirit people of colour.”
The University of Minnesota is a publicly funded post-secondary institution.

From a friend:
This has been around many times but it is such a teachable moment. Capitalism is man serving man. Socialism and Communism is man leaching off of and enslaving man.
A guy looked at my Corvette the other day and said "I wonder how many people could have been fed for the money that sports car cost?"
I replied I am not sure, it fed a lot of families in Bowling Green, Kentucky who built it. It fed the people who make the tires. It fed the people who made the components that went into it. It fed the people in the copper mine who mined the copper for the wires. It fed people in Decatur IL. at Caterpillar who make the trucks that haul the copper ore. It fed the trucking people who hauled it from the plant to the dealer and fed the people working at the dealership and their families. BUT,... I have to admit, I guess I really don't know how many people it fed.

Melania Makes Major Announcement
August 3, 2017
No matter what the Trump administration does, there will always be people who are outraged about something. First Lady Melania Trump announced last week that she will be making her first solo trip abroad by leading the American delegation to the 2017 Invictus Games in Toronto, and predictably, not everyone was happy about this.
The First Lady has received a barrage of attacks since joining her husband on the 2016 campaign trail. Her attendance at the Invictus event has generated mixed criticism, with some saying it is an honorable thing to do and others arguing that it will tarnish the integrity of the Games.
Melania Trump “honored” to lead U.S. delegation this fall
According to a White House press release, the First Lady said that she was “honored by the opportunity,” adding that the men and women participating should be lauded for their tireless efforts. Her first solo trip out of the U.S. will take place from September 23rd through the 30th, and she will lead 90 American athletes.
The Invictus Games was founded by Prince Harry of Wales in 2014. The very first Games took place in London in 2015, followed by Orlando, Florida a year later.
More than 500 wounded servicemen and women from all over the world compete. The participants play about a dozen sports, including golf, wheelchair basketball, indoor rowing, sitting volleyball and archery.
Trump said in a statement:
I was heartened by the great success of the inaugural Invictus Games that took place in London in 2015, and the second games in Orlando, Florida last year. In just two short years, the Invictus Games have allowed thousands of injured and wounded servicemen and women from many different countries to participate in adaptive sports competitions — something that should be lauded and supported worldwide.
She also tweeted out:
Honored to lead US delegation to this year’s 2017 Invictus Games in #Toronto #Canada @WeAreInvictus pic.twitter.com/6y4j2CvVVS
— Melania Trump (@FLOTUS) July 27, 2017
First Lady’s announcement becomes a partisan affair
The announcement has garnered a mixed response. Some say that she should refrain from going, while others say that she is a “decent person” for agreeing to go.
One commenter ripped President Trump for mocking a disabled reporter, an allegation that has already been debunked. Another commenter said that she “deserves respect” even if you do not like her or her husband.
Some fear that her attendance alone might cause the audience to boo the First Lady out of the building. If such an event occurred, it would damage the reputation of the Invictus Games.
A worthy event
Writing an op-ed in The Toronto Star last month, Prince Harry highlighted how important the event is to the wounded members of the military:
Time and time again, competitors from around the world tell me that sport has saved them; that the Invictus Games have given them a new lease on life; and that to represent their country again with fellow comrades is something they could only have dreamt of while lying in hospital.
of course we know flotus moocher obummer would never go out of her way to honor our
vets, whether wounded or not.....
unless of course it was on her way to spend millions of our taxpayer dollars for one of
her many vacations.
