Indeed. In fact, my new goal is to write a book of stories that will be taken seriously 2000 years later.

You are correct Mudclean, misinterpretations of the Bible do not mean the Bible is wrong.
Mudclean, you say: “When it says the Earth shall melt with fervent heat... Why? How? Science may have an answer.” Actually, the Legends of the peoples, which is the prehistory of the peoples passed down by word of mouth through the various destructions of the Earth’s surface, tells why and how. They say that after God created man upon the Earth, men eventually became wicked and apostate, so God destroyed the surface of the Earth along with most life on it, and then afterwards, everything started over again from the few survivors and sometimes from a new creation. And it is said that these destructions tended to alternate between destruction primarily by flood and destruction primarily by fire. And each destruction was effected by a massive celestial body that God sent to engage the Earth in near collision. During the near collisions, the Earth and the wayward celestial body that God sent did a kind of crazy dance around each other for a few days before the wayward body separated and went on its way. This disturbed the motion of the Earth, changing the length of the terrestrial day, the length of the moons (the months), and the length of the year. The changes were relatively small, but large enough to require a new calendar afterwards. During these near collisions, the surface of the Earth flipped on its spin axis, thereby causing a sudden disruption in the season of the year, so that, again, a new calendar was required. Some of the peoples referred to the periods between destructions as “World Ages”, which is the term I prefer. Some of the people referred to them as “suns” since the Earth flipping on its axes caused the sun to rise in the West if it previously rose in the East. The Jews referred to them as “worlds” or “earths” since the destruction left the surface of the Earth changed.
Anyway, when God destroyed the surface of the Earth by flood, the wayward celestial body sent to engage the Earth in near collision was cool, that is, was normal temperature for a planet. During the near collision, the gravitational tidal forces from the wayward body pulled the waters of the oceans out of their banks, which rolled over the continents as a mountain high tidal wave, crushing and drowning everything in its path. This was the nature of the Great Flood of Noah. It was raining deluges of rain during the Great Flood, but it was not the rain, but the mountain-high tidal wave that rolled over the land destroying and drowning everything in its path. Things that floated, like Noah’s Ark, rose up with the tidal wave, thereby sparing its inhabitants.
When destruction was primarily by fire, the massive wayward celestial body that God sent swept into the solar system along a highly ecliptic orbit, swept around the sun so close to the sun that its surface was heated to incandescence, and molten rock was pulled into orbit around the body (such a body is referred to as a “sun grazer”). Then when the wayward body engaged the Earth in near collision on the way back out, it looked something like two suns in the sky, the normal sun and a incandescent red sun, the incandescent heat from the radiant body ignited forests and flammable buildings and such and molten rained down upon the earth, thereby destroying the surface of the Earth by fire along with most life on Earth.
That is why and how it happened, according to the legends of the peoples.
After the Great Flood of Noah, God promised he would never again destroy the Earth by flood, and the rainbow in the sky is a reminder of his promise. But God has foretold another destruction, but this time by fire, and it will occur at the time of the Return of Christ.
WE have physical evidence for these previous destructions of the Earth, of which the Great Flood of Noah is the most recent, in the layers of the Earth’s surface. It has also been observed from historical records of observations of the heavens over the millennia, that the length of days, moons, and year are gradually returning to what they were before the catastrophe of the Great Flood. Which is evidence, by the way, of something I have noticed, that the orbits of planets around the sun are quantized (similar to the orbits of electrons around the nucleus of atoms being quantized). This would explain Bode’s law. If you disturb the motion, it gradually, over a period of thousands of years, returns to the quantized orbit. And I now understand what causes the quantization of planets, but I won’t get into that here.
