We were making wild, passionate love and got all cattywampus in the bed and he fell off the bed and landed on his head, breaking his bone. The doctor at the emergency room said he would be stiff for a while but with a lot of physical therapy hevshoukd limber up, again, in due time.

Why in the world would I use the word "catawampus" when askew or awry.. caty-corner would suffice? Remember the acronym KISS. Keep it simple stupid. Words with too many definitions allow for too much interpretations and is a hot path to miscommunication.

Missouri speak? It's "kitty corner" in Minnesota.
But catty or kitty, it means something different than "cattywhompus" or"catawampus".
Oh, wait. You didn't mean to suggest it meant the same, did you? You were suggesting a new word.
Never mind.
