A local 65 year old woman sets world record in weight lifting in her age group (65).
Wooster woman sets world record in weightlifting

WOOSTER -- Her passion for power lifting and desire to make the most of her natural abilities have helped Karen (Flinner) Markling become the best in the world at what she does.
On June 6, Markling competed in a power lifting competition in Grand Rapids, Michigan where she dead lifted 352.7 pounds and set a new world record for her age and weight category (65-years-old / 148-pound weight division). That lift qualified her to compete in the World Championships in West Palm Beach, Florida, this November. The Worlds are essentially the Super Bowl of power lifting.
Power lifting competitions consist of three lifts: a squat, bench press and dead lift. Competitors warm up privately before lifting in front of judges, who measure strength, form and control.
"When you train, power lifting is all about strength," Markling said. "But it takes as much mental preparation as it does physical, from your diet to a positive attitude. Everything has to be just right."
She trains five days a week, working on different parts of the body every day, giving her muscles the weekend to recover.

I can still put my leg over my head. Do a farmers squat forever. Walk wet rocks. Carry 80 pound feed sacks. Just dont ask me to like walking up hill or run. And not climbing trees anymore nor those old wood, steel ladders in the barn.

A Cuyahoga Falls man was cited by police for being naked while flying a kite at the Summit County Fairgrounds where a youth group was gathered.
The man, 82, was cited for disorderly conduct Wednesday afternoon when he was found at the fairgrounds in Tallmadge. Police say the kite-flying incident took place while a youth group was attending horse camp at the East Howe Road site.
Police say fairground workers first received a report of the bald, bespectacled man flying his kite near the old “air field” on the fairgrounds at about 1:40 p.m. A fairgrounds worker drove to the site and saw the man step out of his vehicle “and put on a pair of shorts.” He was wearing nothing else, police said.
When officers arrived, the man was seen “hurriedly packing his car.” He denied being naked, but when asked for his ID, police say he had to go through a pair of pants crumpled on the passenger seat.
Police say the man was rude and agitated but “eventually admitted to being nude at some point while being out in the field.” He was told never to return to the fairgrounds.
The man accepted the ban and told police he would instead go to the old Triple Crown in Munroe Falls to fly his kites.
“He was advised to remained fully clothed when flying his kites,” a police report shows. Officers say they also alerted Munroe Falls police.
