Things from our past.
In another thread, someone said, a gentleman opening a car door for a lady. Is that a thing of the past?
How about this one. Although this is very rare these days, a gentleman ALWAYS walks on the outside/street side of a lady. BUT does anyone remember how/why that originated?
I was told it was because it was closest to the traffic and if the passing vehicle threw water it would not hit the lady.
Remember when the cars didn't have seat belts and the kids could ride in the back window if they wanted? Black and white TV, Bonanza, party line phone, and fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and gravy and everyone eating at the table.

Speaking of hats, didn't it used to be a custom for men to take off their hats when a funeral passed by? Right or wrong?

Something from my personal past. In the spirit of the day, tomorrow being Valentine's Day AND the grand reveal, as it were, of "Fifty Shades of Grey".
Once upon a time, on a romantic first date, the lady and I saw a movie called "The General's Daughter". My date chose the movie.
I'm wondering NOW, if I missed something, being the naive fellow that I was. Was the movie meant to be a sort of aphrodisiac much like that from eating oysters, which, is from the past, but also used today.
THAT's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Radio, how we had to use our imaginations. Kids stories on records including a book with illustrations, to follow along. They must have something similar on CD these days. Wouldn't it be better for kids to grow up with imagination rather than poor eyesight from TV, computers and Nintendo?

Check your yellow pages for vintage fur dealers/auctions in Erie, Trisha. They should be willing to give you an appraisal. Especially if they think they can get money out of you to allow them to auction them (never go over 30 percent to them) or if they offer to take the lot off your hands for one sum.
Tell them you just want written appraisals for insurance purposes.
Be sure you check at least two more dealers/auctions in larger cities for their appraisals before you ever decide to sell or not.
Good luck.

Hey Driver!
I grew up in Roseville, 2 blocks north of Larpenteur Ave on my grandma's vege farm. The first Dairy Queen in MN was a block south of us on Lexington. It still stands as it was built in 1947.
The first McDonalds in MN is on Snelling Ave in Roseville across from Har Mar Mall and South of Rosedale. It was originally built in 1957.
When I would stay over at my buddy, Phil Hanson's house, his gorgeous older sister Andrea would go up to McDonalds and bring us burgers.
That store looked just like the one in your picture. They have torn down and replaced two buildings. The original owners are still around. Halversons.
Thanks for the awesome trip down memory lane!

1948 Crosley CC Station Wagon. Tiny!
Crosley had a whole line up of mini cars. Also made refrigerators and small appliances.
"Crosley Shelvadore Refrigerator"
Crosley also owned the Cincy Reds and started "CBS" . At one time you could buy a Crosley car next to the refrigerators on the floor at Macy's in New York.
