well back in the day it was the man who took care of the woman, NOT THAT THATS WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR!
I own my own home I bought ON my own with no government assistance, or mans help, just my hard work an saving. Just saying I would want someone who can equally support himself as I can support myself without the financial help of others.

~ I have to admit I'm rethinking this whole marriage thing. Oh I still believe in trust, loyalty and together ever after etc.. Lately what I'm having difficulty wrapping my head around is what I've been reading up on of late, and I know a lot of you have said. Due to government laws, financially it isn't always a good choice. This totally goes against my Christian values but ....... but I really dislike how the government sticks their nose in it.
~ The o'broomstick marriage is looking like it might be the way to go in 'some' cases.
~ I wish I could find that main article I found that spoke on the topic. It was a real eye opener for me. Plus, a young coupe I know are having a terrible time dealing with a parents spouse of 5 years when the wife had a stroke and husband isn't caring for her like she needs. The kids hands are tied and it's been a nightmare getting her the care she needs due to 'him' having all the legal rights. We all hope we would find a good partner in sickness and in health these days you just don't know.
~ Reprogramming my brain to think of being with someone and not married .... well I'm 61 years old hard to reprogram so I would have to know it was a true loving relationship to do it.
~ Rambling too early this morning and to deep a subject. Anyway, I don't want a man to leave me should I get sickly before him, I don't want a man that comes between me and my family, I want a man that prays to God for me and is a Godly man. And one determined to make it work no matter our situation or our health with trust, loyalty and laughter and a little orneriness now and then to keep the blood flowing wouldn't hurt.

The older you get, the more complications with relationships. The only rose colored glasses comes with first marriage when there is no experience. We learn as we go and few survive the rough water. Once there are children the person is no longer free for the duration of their life. Divorce with underage children complicates one's life because the kids don't want another to take the place of their real Mom and Dad. Then there's the X who wants to be a trouble maker and maybe with good cause. ???
Once the kids are of age, finished with school, have families of their own we find age creeping in on us. Now, the kids don't want you involved because their Mom or Dad may have passed and HELL NO, you aren't pushing the memory of my parent in the background. You're not getting one cent of what my Mom or Dad has worked for. It belongs to me. I don't want your face at the Thanksgiving table, nor do I want my parent enjoying your company. I think girls are worse than guys when it comes to feeling about a step-parent. Then there's the health issues to consider. It's much less complicated to have a relationship and as Fishy said "go home".

~ My kids don't care about the money because I don't really have much. I always tell guys the best thing you can do for a child even if they are an adult is to 'love their Mama' if I'm happy and loved I think my kids would be on board. I'm not saying my kids have the final say so about a man in my life but I have to admit, they have been right a few times in the past. They are smarter than I was giving them credit for. Nice to know someone has their eyes wide open and have your best interest at heart.
~ What I run into is that my kids, my son especially does not think anyone is good enough for his Mama. I mean he is respectful but I can tell how he feels about someone.
~ My kids did have a hard time when their Dad remarried and they were young adults at that time. Thank goodness neither my ex or I tried to cause trouble for the other.
~ I want someone that's got my back and for the right reasons as we journey, living and loving, through what is left of life. 
~ I definitely had the rose colored glasses when first married and lacking experience and poor examples.

I guess I am not a candidate for you women in this group, I smoke, cuss, drink a little, but I have had two wives, till death done us part, I kept them in a home, clothing, food, cars, diamonds, lol, and just about what ever they wanted, I treated them with respect, and dignity, never abused them. but I cannot meet the requirements I read that you women want.
