Twinkies all the way this year!!!! Sano for MVP. I'd say Buxton for Rookie of the Year but he can't hit his way out of a paper bag yet. Sounds like the Hicks guy we traded to NY. I always wondered why they'd want him, good fielder but he looks at the bat and says "What the hell am I supposed to do with this damn thing?"

Low, I agree with you about Obummer but the only problem is we might get someone even worse named Hillary who should already be in jail.
Back to MLB, ESPN, along with all of the other networks that cover sports other than FOX are very liberal in their sports coverage as well as their news coverage. It's just a fact of life that we have to live with if we want to watch the games which I do with the sound off many times.

You're truly pitiful! Just for giggles I went to 6 independent websites and Canseco is not listed in the top 20 on any of these websites as one of the best hitters ever. Furthermore, I also checked out Coach Cal on these same websites and he is not listed in the top 10 as one of the best coaches ever.

Barry Bonds was also thin when he played for the Pirates but he sure bulked up after he left the Pirates and got on the steroids.

I still don[t really agree with people who say bonds should be in because he sued steroids later blah bah blah, because even though he was skinny that still doesn't prove he wasn't using something. For one thing it would take a while to be a huge change in body, I would think. I say either Canseco should get in or Bonds shouldn't if Jose doesn't.
Jose walked right by me in a hotel once and I said hi and he ignored me. lol. I think he maybe didn't hear me, though. Some other baseball players I have seen truly be rude, including a certain other big name steroid user who was next to me.

@ LOW,
You might be right that the Reds won't lose 100 games this year because Vegas says they will only lose 98 games and they are not wrong often.
The problem with the Reds is their pitching staff at home. That ballpark is kinda
small. Especially in the power alleys! You hit a line drive to right field, it
has a 50-50 chance of leaving the yard.

Silly, Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't you state clearly at the beginning of your new baseball thread that you would not put up with any fantasy baseball this year? I plan to be a big part of your baseball thread this season but I won't be if doublethree starts boring us with all of his fantasyland stuff. I hope your intention is to keep your baseball thread all about real baseball with the games that are to be played. If not, I will start a MLB thread about real MLB teams not allowing any of this fantasy crap to be included.

you have made 1 small mention of a fanstasy draft.
Since it is just the preseason and we are still learning the rules, I will not call

You're really getting brave now if you give Hank a fair shot but I've got a feeling you will be calling a third strike on him soon after he steps into the batter's box.
In the NL Central the Cubs seem to be the overwhelming choice but many are picking your Pirates to finish second and my Cardinals to finish third in this division. I'll be happy if the Cardinals win one out of the first three games in Pittsburgh.

Since you're a fan of Canseco's, I played poker at the same table with him about 10 yrs ago at the Bicycle Club casino in L.A. He had this hot little honey with him. The interesting part was that most at the table seemed to recognize him but no one really spoke to him. The nice part was me winning a decent sized pot from him

That would be rather interesting. The Dodgers have already had a big injury to their
"starting" lineup.
I used to hate the Dodgers for some time when Lasorta was their manager.
I don't know what the reason was for his hatred of Pittsburgh.
I was sitting about 50ft behind 3rd base when late pitcher Tom Niedenfur threw a
fastball into Gary Redus's face. The fans almost spilled onto the field!
The words used by the fans were more suited for a Steeler game then a Pirate game!

Well, hey I'm the one who does want to get along. It's not me who keeps complaining. If you notice, I barely ever mention a thing about fantasy baseball, when I do I BARELY say a word about it and most of the post is about players' stats, and for anyone to get annoyed with that.... they're just out to get annoyed from the start. If I were the troll, I would be posting constantly fantasy this and fantasy that.
Sounds fun. I have never played poker in a casino, but do like it and of course would have been interesting being there when Jose was playing. Only times I've really run across him were 1. when he was leaving a locker room in Detroit, 2. he signed autographs in the stadium and signed some right beside me, but not mine. lol. 3. he almost walked right over me in a hotel in Arlington. What I liked about him is nobody had the sheer power he had when he truly connected nearly perfectly on a pitch. of course, it does suck he was using steroids, apparently.

I say the Reds win the Central and World Series this season!!!!! This winter in theaters you will be seeing Major League 3 !!!! The cast is Bryan Price as Lou Brown, Billy Hamilton as Willie Mays Hayes, Zack Cozart as Roger Dorn, Joey Votto as Jake Taylor, Marty Brennamn as Harry Doyle, and Katherine Webb as owner Rachel Phelps... Unfortunately you will not be seeing Aroldis Champan as Ricky "Wild Thang" Vaughn because in this version he retires early... He just could not face the fact he was gonna have to leave The Nati and go pitch in new york

During my research of players for this year (who cares if it was for fantasy, this is relevant to the season), it looks like some of the player who many think will have good seasons are pence, sano, corey seager, eaton, eikhoff, span, burns, smyly, vmart, joe ross, deshields, franco, correa, odor, springer. Obviously, I am not putting guys lke trout and harper, who everyone knows will do good. And deshields and span are mostly just for speed purposes.
I agree with about all of those, really. I also agree with many that schwarber is overrated for this year because he may not even get at-bats against lefties.

come on sports fans lets have your predictions about your favorite division.
My division has to be the toughest to pick.
1. Cubs- This team could win 108 games!
2. Pirates- They have the best outfield. Pitching coach Ray Searage is a miracle worker.
3. Cards- they lost Heywood but have a proven trackrecord of winning.
4. Reds - they do still have some bats but pitching is a question mark.
5. Brewers- they have good food at the ballpark and beer!

I agree with about all of those, really. I also agree with many that schwarber is overrated for this year because he may not even get at-bats against lefties.
There's a player named Odor?

come on sports fans lets have your predictions about your favorite division.
Silly, We both know that the Cubs are going to be very good but I think you are way too high on the Cubs winning 108 games simply because the Pirates and the Cardinals will compete heavily against them in the best division in all of baseball, the NL Central.
Vegas says the over/under on the Cubs total wins is 96 so you've got a gift waiting for you if you think they will win 108 games by taking the over.

I don't know what is up with the cards. They have let more and more hitters go without properly replacing them over the past few years. I am banking on wacha and Martinez pitching well, though.
The answer to your question is simple. For over the past decade the Cardinals have had, and continue to have, the best minor league system in all of baseball. They have arms in their minor league pitching system that most people haven't even heard about yet and they have bats among second year players that are starting to mature. The big question mark for the Cardinals is staying healthy for an entire season which they haven't been able to do lately, not to mention that the Cubs have a genius for a general manager.

I am believing that the Cubs will sweep both the Reds and Brewers for starters.
Also I think they will do very well in interleague play.

It's very difficult for any team to sweep any other team in division play since even great teams have bad days from time to time. With this said the Cubs lineup looks very strong from top to bottom however but I think some of their pitchers will have off days. I guess we will start finding out soon how all of this will play out.

I don't really feel like any of their young bats will be THAT great, although they could be good. As for the minor league system, that is one good thing about where I live. their AAA team is here, but I haven't gone to many games the past few years. I didn't even get to see Taveras while he was here. I went and watched Ankiel that one year when he had around 40 homers in the minors. Garcia, pujols, Molina.... those were fun to watch. I wonder who I should go to see this year.

The Cardinals remain loaded with pitching talent all the way from their rookie league team through Triple AAA Memphis. Last year they dealt a young left handed pitcher with great potential who was only playing Single A to Cleveland by the name of Rob Kaminsky with so many arms to spare. Sorp can tell you much more about Kaminsky since he knows his dad.
If you get a chance to take in a few Memphis games this year keep your eyes on these players until some of them are called up:
Alex Reyes
Jack Flaherty
Luke Weaver
Magneuris Sierra
Edmundo Sosa
Nick Plummer
Marco Gonzales
Tim Cooney
Charlie Tilson
Harrison Bader

Thanks. Of those, I have heard of only a few. I really should keep up with their prospects more! I sued to, but haven't as much lately.
