Absolutely Joe! Even Sorp's Yankees have lost 6 in a row after winning 6 in a row earlier this season. It's a long season that includes winning streaks and losing streaks by all teams.

Both Arizona and the LA Dodgers are 9-1 in their last 10 games but Colorado continues to lead the NL West.

OK I am calling it a season for the Giants! Will they be sellers soon?
hard to believe that my Pirates got a easy win tonight. we probably should have scored
12, but Josh Bell got the golden sombrero 0-5.

Not only did your Pirates get an easy win last night, they also moved into third place percentage points ahead of the idle Cardinals.

The Giants have a good manager who will probably lose his job because of the way the Giants are playing this year.

Did you see MLB Now show yesterday? Someone rated all the managers.
1. Terry Franconia 4. Joe Madden 25. Don Mattingly 30. Mike Matheny
Hurdle was in the 11- 20 range. I can't believe that!!!!

All the rating services had Hillary beating Trump too!

Every MLB show on various networks will rate GMs, managers, and players differently. The only thing that really matters is what the record books say when it's all said and done.

When you're chasing two teams like the Pirates and Cardinals are doing in their own division it's very difficult to pass the front runner unless you get on a big time winning streak. Getting Marte back should certainly help the Pirates but I still feel like the Cubs will take control of the NL Central with a winning streak of their own.

To use a NASCAR term . . . catching the first place driver is one thing but passing him is another.

the Cubs team era is almost 2+ runs higher this year than last. Also the injury bug could strike them sometime.

Silly, You are absolutely correct, the Cubs pitching this year vs. last year is their most glaring weakness. However, with that said, they still have the best overall talent in the weak NL Central this year in my opinion to win this division easily. I hope I'm wrong since I'm not a Cubs fan.

You won the first game in our weekend series last night with what should be a good pitching match up tonight so congratulations to your Pirates.

Houston just became the first team to get 50 wins this season but look at who has an eye full of their tail lights with a big time winning streak taking place:

Houston 50-25
LA Dodgers 49-26

Could this be the World Series match up? I guess time will tell.

Absolutely! a healthy Bumgarner is a great post season pitcher for any team that thinks they can make it to post season play. I'm not sure how he is healing from that stupid accident he had though. Posey also has a lot of good baseball left in him I believe.

Silly, IF ifs and buts were candy and nuts we would all have a Merry Christmas.

Well, your Pirates won two out of three in St. Louis so I guess the Cardinals need to win two out of three on their next trip to Pittsburgh. The problem for both of these two teams is they are both 5 games out of first place as they battle for 3rd place, they are both chasing two teams, and as long as they both continue to play inconsistent baseball things will remain the same for both of them. I realize there are a lot of games left to be played since we are not even at the halfway point of the regular season yet but no team in the weak NL Central has demonstrated yet that a consistent winning streak can be put together. Oh well, at least this way too long baseball season gives us something to talk about until football season begins.

The Pirates moved McCutcheon from the 6th slot back to 3rd slot. They should have left him alone and traded the awkard goose Polanco away.

Hello Joe and I hope you are doing well. There are only two division races that are not close so far and I think any team in the AL East could still win this division. Tampa Bay has even been impressive as they close in on the 2nd place Yankees who have won only 3 of their last 10 games. Heck, Toronto could even win this division if they get on a winning streak. Good luck to you and your O's in what should be an interesting September for several teams fighting for a playoff spot.

Silly, You're correct, the Cubs are having some injuries right now as all teams have during the course of a way too long baseball season but I think they've got an even bigger problem than that with team chemistry in their clubhouse. Coaches and players are playing the blame game about who is and who is not performing among this highly talented team that is under performing so far this season. The Cubs have a great manager who needs to right their ship soon or they will become known as one year wonders. The Cubs should be running away with this weak NL Central and I still think they will win it but certainly not by almost 20 games like they did last year.

Yes I still want Hurdle fired. who is the manager of that team him or Cole?

Silly, Okay . . . offer Hurdle and Cole to Sorp and see who he comes back with since late inning relief pitching has become one of the Yankees biggest weaknesses lately.

BUT, don't offer Hurdle and Cup to Sorp because he might pass on that.

I have never seen a Pirate victory in their current stadium. 0-8.
I drive to a Frontier league game. I have never seen that team lose. 7-0.
how odd.

Carter couldn't hit the ground with his bat!
Cole would give up tons of Home runs at Yankee statium.

Catfish Hunter use to give up many HRs but mostly solo or it didn't matter...i expect any day for Carter to be D FA again and gone

So, what are the betting odds when the Pirates play the Frontiers?

True story that Catfish Hunter, my ole fishing buddy, once told me:

While with the Yankees Catfish was called in from the bullpen to get the final out with the bases loaded. His manager handed him the ball and told him to leave the bases empty. Catfish did just that as the first pitch he threw was hit for a grand slam home run and that was his last pitch he threw that night.

Okay, then what are the betting odds when the Pirates play the Wildthings?

I've never heard of the Frontier League. Is it professional baseball at the Single A, Double AA, or Triple AAA level?
