There was one woman I used to know who really had a lasting effect on me. The most beautiful woman I personally knew. She had the most radiant smile I've ever seen. I looked her up today. I was stunned. She clearly developed an addiction to botox. Her face looks like a mask with thick lips. She doesn't look remotely like the woman I knew. It's sad that she felt the need to do that to her face. I don't know if she thought she spotted crow's feet developing or what, but she ruined her flawless face. For the ladies in here, have you ever tried it? It must be addictive. She used to be a head turner, now you would turn away.

It seems surgeries & other things done medically for looks are addictive for some people.

No, I have not had Botox or anything else.

In my male dominated industry, we of the wise years , have to compete not only as women, but as older women who still like to work. Looks matter. HR can't say that, no one can say it, but everyone knows it. Same as they know blatant age discrimination is alive and well.

I use Botox once or twice a year, for big events & family events which include x inlaws.
It is only meant for crows feet, the little " 1 1 " between your eyebrows and some lines on your forehead. Botox lasts only 3-4 months.
I like it a lot. It doesn't change your face.

If lips and cheeks are changed, that is done with fillers, not Botox. Those last from 6 months - 1 yr.
If the doctor/nurse went to far with lip fillers, the person has to wait that 6-12 months until they're back to normal. If they do it unevenly, it can look lumpy and unbalanced.

I've not tried fillers.

beyond fillers, some people get chin and/or cheek implants, usually from their own fat.

MOSTLY, I think women AND men should do what they like and want.
The plastic surgeon at my place does TONS OF WORK ON MEN. Botox, fillers, FACE LIFTS.
To compete professionally.

No fake anything here! Don't agree with it. The only fake thing I'll do is color my hair.

Seems your friend thought she was defined by her looks. She got older and didn't want to accept it gracefully.

I was adopted, but I must have gotten good jeans. My whole life I've been told I look at least 10 yrs younger than I am. I had a lady in my water aerobics class that was floored when I told her I was 51.

at any age no matter how beautiful you are physically if you don't feel beautiful from the inside you're not going to feel beautiful unless you have and or keep your physical beauty. maybe she didn't feel beautiful on the inside. so don't be too harsh on her unless you've walked in her footsteps.

I wasn't born a beauty queen but I am beautiful from the inside out. that makes me shine. people see it. I'd never have surgery for more physical beauty.
beautiful truly comes the inside out and how you see the world around you.

there ain't no amount of surgery that'll make you feel beautiful if you don't feel beautiful from the inside. otherwise it's nothing more then a cover for who you aren't inside.

you don't have to compete with anyone but yourself when you're doing your best. if someone can do better tip your hat to them and carry on.
looks matter to people that need to lean on that to be who they want to be. you don't have to do that. if you lean on your looks you're in for a big disappointment as you age.

Look at it this way, she probably started aging and not looking as good, at least in her mind and did all of this.

So, it could be she would have looked worse without it, and maybe you caught her right after all this and it wasn't settled in yet.

One more comment...women who are sculptured works of art on the outside don't knock me over like it does most guys, sure I'm human and male...and it looks good, but I rate what's on the inside with a lot more value, and you can see pretty women all day long, but find one that's down to earth and real and you really have something...that impresses me a lot more than being pretty.

Enough men and women who are works of art in looks, have been pampered and gotten so much attention, it makes them not so attractive in how they are.

People have always tried to improve their looks. Whether it is with makeup, exercise, diet and nutrition, or surgery, people will continue in that quest. What "God" didn't give, in many instances, science can.

Botox, collagen, biotin, implants, and hair replacement are just a few of the options that women and men may use in their fight against the tolls of time and diminished psyches.

There is nothing wrong with trying to remain as active, viable, and attractive as possible...

The only woman I ever dated who had had a cosmetic....refinement(?), had just had breast surgery. But it was a reduction. When I knew her in college, she was EXTREMELY top heavy. And to be totally honest, afterwards, they...were...spectacular!

When I was still a teenager in the early 80's, most of the gals I knew layered the makeup on with a trowel. That crap would leave smear stains on my pillows in he morning. . NOT a fan of makeup. Some slight cosmetic adjustments to enhance features that already exist are fine if it's what she truly wants. A woman's femininity is attractive enough to me. And whatever she looks like now, as a seasoned adult woman, is preferable to any injections, etc that would try to reverse the clock however temporary.

Just how I look at the situation.

You don't really know what's gone on in her life since last you knew her. You don't know if something devastating happened to require some kind of plastic surgery and that the results weren't all that good, but maybe better than what prompted it. You don't really know what her reasons are for anything. You don't know what her thoughts are about anything.

So don't judge her harshly.

That said, I have seen some people whose clear addiction to plastic surgery is scary. You've all seen the woman whose surgeries have left her looking like a lion. Or the one who wanted to be a real life Barbie. Look at what Michael Jackson did to his nose. Look at what (who's that guy who sang that gambler song?), his face is unrecognizable. Ever watch that show Botched? Some of those people are nuts. There was some Argentinian guy on there who looked like a plastic doll and still he wanted more. He had "sculpted" his buttocks, torso, shoulders, jawline, nose, etc., etc. He really liked that shiny, plastic look of his face. He looked like a buff Ken doll. He wanted the buff body without the workouts. Just surgery. To me the surgery would be worse than working out, but apparently not to him.

I would like to look younger again. I wish I had the taut and dewy skin I used to have and no saggy facial skin anymore. If I could do it without the risk of looking like it's a mask, I'd do it. What I really wish is that I didn't see my dad when I looked in a mirror!

In my mind's eye, I'm still 22.

I've known two women in my life that wanted to go the way of the knife (sorta). Both wanted bigger boobs.

The first I worked for, she was flat but holy f**k she was gorgeous in every possible way. I like boobs, I like'm decently sized, but with this woman she was perfect as is.

Anyway, she was putting some thought into it, her friends were encouraging her and they even had some sample implants out and were feeling on them to see which ones felt the most real etc.

She commented to her friends about asking me, they scoffed and said men only care about how big they are. She called me in and asked me what I thought about her getting implants.

I answered both women the same way, the second woman isn't important but I still told her the same.

"If you get implants, do it because YOU and only YOU want them, not because you think you need them to impress anyone or to feel relevant or attractive."

Carrera, my boss hugged my neck and never got them. The second woman was just testing me hoping to get an idea of what I liked physically in a woman. Just f**king ask next time.

Ftr- botox is not plastic surgery. Of course i wouldn't expect many on here to grasp that concept

Its temporary- just tiny injections. Many doctors also use it for migrains, excessive sweating, and other common ailments.

You're right, it isn't. But the way he described her face sounded like more than Botox. I'm thinking chemical peels, maybe some lifts, like around the eyes or something.

I agree lake.

Its definitely not botox altering an appearance that drastic. The only altering botox would really do is reduce the face from creating lines when you smile, frown or that type of thing.

I'm sure you are educated on this lake.

No I haven't and I'm not going to.
Having said that,I am not against Cosmetic surgery, botox etc., when it's done properly. What I am against is the sense of measure that some lack in using it. Some don't even need it, yet they go for it. I'll never understand that.

Thankfully, we don't allow a few extreme examples to set the standard for the entirety. The fact is that most people who have these procedures DON'T look plastic and don't have fish faces. The overwhelming majority who get the procedures don't appear on freaky websites and supermarket tabloids...

Ok, obviously I'm no expert in these things. I just know its some kind of treatment women use to look younger, but it makes them look worse. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would have given her an 8.5 before. I can't understand why she would do this to her self.

People don't see themselves the same as you. Other people won't see her the same as you see her. She might believe she looks better and her healthy self image will matter far more than what you or I may think of her...

But it isn't in her best interest to look that way. No one would say she looks better now. She looks unnatural. Caitlyn Jenner looks more like a woman.

Thankfully, we don't allow a few extreme examples to set the standard for the entirety. The fact is that most people who have these procedures DON'T look plastic and don't have fish faces. The overwhelming majority who get the procedures don't appear on freaky websites and supermarket tabloids...

This is true.

Don't recall a law that says you have to reply.

Best way to show you don't care is not answer, genius.
