Little(or nothing) should be considered sacred and all things should be fair game. Trouble is, it can be taken too far and become tasteless and hurtful without purpose if not done well. Timing and delivery can be everything. I don't consider myself a fan of hers and I haven't seen a video of her apology yet. Though I have enjoyed some of the material of hers that I've seen. And I don't think of her as a top tier comic on a par with George Carlin or Monty Python who knew few boundaries. Perhaps she just didn't have the chops to get away with a visual joke like that? Dunno. She is beginning to pay for it now.

Even the LIBERALS came out against her though our Sen Franken from Sat Night Life will proudly appear with her next month. He won't get my vote in 2020, but he didn't get my vote in 2014 or 2008 either. In his heart he probably thinks she didn't go far enough. Still he'll easily win re-election, get about 65% of the vote and this incident will be ancient history by then.

My main issue with this is that it's reflective of all of the ISIS murders that I've been reading / hearing about for the past few yrs. when people were murdered by decapitation. There was at least 1 American journalist that was captured by ISIS and decapitated. That journalist's decapitation was recorded, too. It's DISGUSTING and I almost think in a way she was capitalizing (subconsciously) off these murders / decapitations by bringing light to them in a negative way. She had to recognize the connection and didn't care to consider it.
