It is either "RED CLAY" Newlady---or "SAND"--I lived on a dirt road and went barefoot---when I came to the mountains and all these rocks--I learned to wear my shoes...

I was talking about Georgia Newlady--I lived in a small town close to Savannah--and it was so sandy where we lived but the roads had that red clay hauled in to stabilize them--it is same way today--still dirt roads--in Tennessee it is different.

I recall a Kansas dust storm back a bout 1949, it blew lose soil, sand .so high it buried 5 miles of a 5 strand barbed wire fence. all you could see of it was 2 or3 inches of some posts, I was just a kid , but worked for the county road district for 3 or4 days securing the wire in coils for farmer's reuse later out of the drifts.... as we bull dozed the fences .

Will begin my Road Trip in less than two days. Going to West Monroe, Louisiana. Will pass through South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi. Have never traveled through these many States by Car. An Adventure for me. Going with My Daughter and G/Daughter. I so hope the weather will be better. Will have pictures of my visit to "Duck Dynasty Territory" on my profile when I get back.

Let me hear from anyone on here that has traveled through these States. Also, if you know what the weather is going to be like on Thursday in these States.
......Been through South Carolina and Georgia several times. Liked both of them. Never been through Alabama and Mississippi but from what i have heard, think i would like both of them.

One time, while stationed in Alaska, decided to take a 30 furlough and come home. Being a poor boy, i asked my sargeant about it. He got me a hop ( free ride ) on a military plane from Alaska to Salinas Kansas. An Air Force tanker that had an engine catch on fir half way through the flight. Nerve racking. Anyhow, when i got to Kansas and checked on bus and train prices, i decided to hitchike the rest of the way home. What an experience for a young boy. Seen some beautiful country and had quite a trip. Met some wonderful people too. That was back in 1961 when people knowed how to treat people. Never forget it.

Alex..I remember when many Military Guys Hitch Hiked home from different places. Times have changed. It is illegal in many States to Hitch Hike now. And these times, some people are so bad, it would be very dangerous.

I have been to several States on the East Shore. It will be nice to go a different route.

Ante..Myrtle Beach is usually where we go. I love it there. I think we may have a trip there in June.

..... There was an article on TV Monday evening about them. They are Ring-billed gulls. Dozens on top of dozens have been seen around here. Said they were migrating to their destination. Don't know what they were doing in this neck of the woods. Will freeze their butts off.

They must have been ran away from the Beaches. When we were at the Beach last year, I didn't see as many as usually. Was at Wally World Monday and when we got out of car, I told my G/Daughter (she was looking up at the Sea Gulls) you better keep your mouth closed or you may taste something you don't like.

Heard some tragic news on TV this morning. Two kids were killed in a car wreck about 4 miles from my house last night. I heard one was two and one was four. Think their mother had to be air lifted to a trauma center. How sad.

Have you been watching the news of late , since 2004 Chevrolet ( G.M.) has known about faulty air bags in their cars & now after 12 or more deaths due to this they are finally recalling millions of cars to correct the serious problem.

Had a 68 Impala --new-- beautiful sleek car--antque gold /black top----it would fly---just point it in the direction you were heading and push the gas--it was like a streak of lightning----Some will criticize this --BUT- our town had no traffic in 68 hardly--MY OLDEST son says..."my car , a Camaro--will out run you impala"----and you know, I never could take a bet-----so on a straight away-- we happen to see each other on day-- and here we go----WE WERE ABOUT EVEN--BUT MORAL TO STORY--is "where were the POLICE???"

I'm a cruel old grouch , were i the Land Lord & these sewage violations happen TWICE, , the renter's asses would be served a vacate the premises, by a court order. no matter relations or not. that or raise their rent to re-cover yer losses, paying for repairs , etc;.

Every Morning on my screen shows the recent news--and it was saying the --"worse places in America to live"---now when it comes to the South , like these mountains from Virginia down ward--you'd think New Yorkers would say we live like mountain goats---"WHO GIVES THE SNOBS on Wall street the right to judge our simple way of life " compared to their RAT RACE.....

Getting older is not "GOLDEN" but senior citizens here is offering classes on how to manage pain, living alone, and other issues of old age...and I believe I will start these classes to get my foot in the door for future troubles and help on home-health care--I am not there yet...but --a guy I have chatted with a year said him being alone makes him scared to do things --having no family -- to help him should something happen----rather sad.

These golden years aren't what they are cracked up to be. Remember when i was in my 30's and i would look at somebody at work near retirement age and i would say, boy look at them. Lucky things. They are going to retire and go home and have it made. Boy was i ever wrong.

Alex..I was guilty of that also in my younger years. We never know what lays ahead in our future. I hear my Daughter..who is almost 40 years old..say the same to me. I tell her, "don't count your chickens before they hatch. You can't say what a person's life is like until you walk in their shoes." The so to speak, "Golden Years"...who came up with this? However, I am Thankful Everyday to God that I can still get up and walk and my mind is still working.

Alex and Dellia--I aqctually looked at my parents and although I loved them --I thought these people are so old--they have no idea what a mind like a teenager wants or needs---then my Dad was gone at 57--and I was "LOST" --you grow up fast when the cold hard facts hit you in the head.---but I am going to call the senior citizens first thing today.

.....You've got that part right. I feel blessed every day. If my mind wasn't working and i didn't know my family and friends, i would just as soon be dead. God has been wonderful to us.

Yer in same boat with the majority here Alex , but judging by what we post compared to many other sites just here on Date hookup.com , we have some bright minds , sunny dispositions , loving hearts , friendlyness despite differences of opinions ,tho just a few regulars carry the brunt of keeping the 70's chat going it's one of the best to find a friend (s) & mate if lucky.
