I do think it's all about attitude and perception...

How many ways can this statement be taken?

"We're going to the Cheesecake Factory, wear a dress..."

If he says this as a controlling demand, or whether he turns it into a flirty request is all on him...if he's misinterpreted by her, perhaps this isn't a good match...

Personally, I think what's missing here in this thread is a sense of humor...

Homeless attire would have been suitable for that dump.

69 pages because some woman wore jean shorts instead of a dress?

Whole story is probably made up anyway.

I wear shorts and Ts in this ungodly humid heat and jeans and sweaters in cold weather. I almost never deter from that.

HOWEVER,

I am not going to wear the same old shit on a first date with a guy...and not likely on most dates.

He asked me out, he is offering to pay. He is picking me up, dropping me off, and he is taking the time and effort to look and smell nice for me, and shave and shower and wash and comb his hair.

The least I can do for him is show him a little appreciation and interest by trying to look pretty and sexy for him.

That is what dating is all about...initiating and maintaining attraction and interest.

"We're going to CF, wear a dress."

I'd be like, "Wear THIS, MF."

The way he presented it was just fine.

"I love that dress in the pic. I'd really like to see you wear it," or a similar sentiment.

There was not a thing wrong with that.

Trust me, some of you old bats had better jump all over a compliment like that. Not like you've heard anything about being sexy in a very...and I do mean VERY... long time.

To say I'm shocked this thread is still going is an understatement. Freedom of choice!!! He asked her out twice. Twice she said yes. She didn't wear the dress he saw on her profile pics, the one he said probably looked even better in person. He said the evening ended with passion and was good. Maybe I'm over simplifying the situation but good grief get over it. Freedom to ask for a 3rd date or not.

That isn't the way it's done....

Everyone has to have an opinion, and then everyone else has to critic all the other opinions, and then the ones who type the loudest gets to repeat his/her opinion repeatedly to be sure it's heard repeatedly, and then the opinions start all over again with new people contributing their opinion, to be critiqued by new posters with opinions ...

And on and on...

Meanwhile, the op of the thread is free to live his life off dh....

So what if it is?
Does that make it any less legitimate than the other made-up thread topics?
It's apparently an interesting supposition to many of us, including you.

Has it really come to the point where people have to discuss what they're wearing? Shouldn't some things fall under common sense? If you have a dinner date at a relatively nice place, you put some effort into what you're wearing.

Yes I agree it should be common sense and there should be effort put into it. I think it's pathetic and disgusting what just isn't common sense anymore. It's nice to hear this from someone else on this site. Certain things shouldn't even have to be discussed or thought of. Totally stupid. Thanks for letting me vent, and again it's nice to see this post. Thumbs up!!!!
