Not a casual meet/greet. An actual dinner date. Ladies, you'd make an effort to look presentable right?
Had the meet/greet Sun. Went well and ended in a kiss. Called her Mon night and arranged a dinner date for tonight. I wore a nice button up shirt and good pair of pants. She wore an old t-shirt, jean shorts, and sandals like she was going to the beach. I actually felt uncomfortable walking into the restaurant because of how differently we were dressed.
Ironically, the date itself was awesome, and the good night send off was really passionate. But I must admit, what she chose to wear REALLY rubbed me the wrong way.

Dress can be somewhat Important sometimes but its not the be all and end all ...If you liked her company that was the main thing .. Maybe she just didn't want to over dress or she may not have the right cloths ..... Just look at the things that was good ..

Yep. Cheesecake Factory. It isn't a five star restaurant, but it's still a decent place to eat all the same. So that's why I chose to dress on the nicer end of casual.
It's not like it's a black tie event and she had to wear an evening gown. But a dinner date should require a bit more effort than an old ratty t-shirt, jean shorts, and flip flop sandals.

Next time ask, what she is wearing. Dressing for Dinner, depends on the restaurant's atmosphere. So which one of you made the wrong choice in dinner attire? Good to hear that you enjoyed your evening together.

Has it really come to the point where people have to discuss what they're wearing? Shouldn't some things fall under common sense? If you have a dinner date at a relatively nice place, you put some effort into what you're wearing.

Ummmm.....hello....knock, knock.....anybody home?
My neck of the woods.....a dinner date is a pig roast.....followed by beer around the fire. J/S.
Nothing wrong with the above......nothing wrong with going to a nice place either... be on the same page.

Upscale casual. This means decent dress attire. If we were going to the beach, on a picnic, a baseball game, etc that is more than fine. But a dinner date is different. The fact that she knew where we were eating and dressed down so much only made it worse.
I do agree that the experience is ultimately what matters and it was a great date. But when someone puts no effort into their appearance at all, it's like they're saying they don't give a shit.

Hmmm....
I'm wondering what the response would be if he said, "Wear a dress" for a first date...
Some would gladly wear a dress and be happy to have the occasion to wear one, another will be defiant and say, "Screw that noise..." and wear a torn t-shirt, cut-offs and flip-flops....
You may well have run into the latter....
You said you were uncomfortable by her attire, how exactly did you express that to her?

Here's a funny but true story about attire.
My first time to go to Vegas, with a friend who had never been either.
Back in the day... .we both had just seen Vegas in the movies, so we assumed everyone dressed up.
So, we rented nice suits and took off, we got there, walked in to the first Casino.
and everyone was dressed so casual and looked at us like we were nuts.

OP, you are 100 percent right to feel the way you do. I know exactly what would happen if the situation were reversed: you'd be raked through the coals. Here, with these trolltards, you'd not only be a sloppy dresser with no consideration for your date, you'd be a wife beater, child abuser, murderer, rapist, have herpes, AIDs, and also go in the line that says 15 items only, with 17 items.
What the stuptards aren't getting is that even though CF is casual, like you said it does say dress casual, and torn cutoffs and sloppy a** t-shirt are not dress casual. That said, if the OP was alone, that would have been one thing. But this was a date, and her first date with you. It says to me she didn't give a shit about dressing to impress you, to look nice for you. F**k the restaurant. I'd give her an F for F-fort. I guess the only saving grace was that you did have a good time. So now the problem is teaching her how to dress correctly for the occasion. Makes me wonder if she didn't have that much common sense, just how inept she is in other social graces as well.

I think a bit more effort could have been made on her part, but it seems like you had a great time.
This is what dating is all about, the process of having fun and seeing if you're compatible. If the clothing is a big issue for you and she always shows up in old t-shirts and shorts, she might not be for you.
