March certainly came in like a lion. An entire pride of them as a matter of fact. 3 tractor trailers blown over on the interstate just a couple miles from my house. Then around 8:30 the weather alert radio went off. Gave the storm to be crossing the county to the west of me. Shoot....that's where we get the hard stuff. Then it gave a few little communities in its path and was a little to the south of me. 10 minutes later the radio went off again. N. Western part of the county. Now I'm really under the gun. They mentioned another small community and this was on the other side of me so the storm was following the pattern. If it comes like this and hits both places they said this AM it splits at the river and goes around me. WHEW. Really tore up jack in the places it did hit. Several homes completely destroyed.

During that last front, we were in the 30's during the day and down to 22 at night. Factor the wind in the daytime...was about 15 mph or so, so felt colder than that.

Blizzard Warning still in effect through noon; I-70 closed between Aurora and Limon

Last night’s Blizzard Warning from the National Weather Service out of Denver came to fruition and, as of 6:15 this morning, has resulted in the closure of I-70 between Airpark Road and Limon.
On an additional local note, at 7:40 a.m., several vehicles including a snowplow were stuck on Highway 79 between Bennett and the intersection with Old Victory Road, blocking the westbound lane. Commuters on the local side roads are asked to use extra caution.
Additional highway closures, as of 7 a.m., include: Highway 86 between Kiowa and Limon, Highway 83 between Franktown and Colorado Springs, U.S. 24 between Colorado Springs and Limon, and Highway 94 between Colorado Springs and Highway 287. I-25 between Castle Rock and Colorado Springs is also closed.As of 6:23 a.m., the National Weather Service reiterated the Blizzard Warning is still in effect until at least 12 p.m. today for central and east Adams and Arapahoe counties and north and northeast Elbert County under 6,000 feet, including the communities of Bennett, Strasburg Byers, Deer Trail, Leader, Agate, Hugo, Limon and Matheson.
The amount of total accumulation has been slightly downsized from last night from 5-10 inches to 3-7 inches, but 30-45 mph winds, with some gusts up to 60, from the north continue to provide additional headaches. Preliminary weather reports have already indicated at least a half-inch of moisture from the snow that has fallen with more likely.
Commuters are asked to not drive unless absolutely necessary and have a winter survival kit including water, nonperishable food and heavy coats or blankets if out on the roads. In addition, stranded motorists are urged to stay with their vehicle and not leave the area to go find help....yadayadayada
