Neighbor Eric called. He said he bought a Mazda with 80k. Got to 84K and engine went. Back to Toyota dealer he got it from. They took it to the Mazda dealer. New engine in..only gave a 10k warranty on it. hmmmm? And charged him half the price of it, $2600. NOW...he read that those engines were lemons. So Mazda extended warranties to 100k or 10 years. So his question is why did dealer charge him. I said need to check further...was there limits to recall? Did Mazda give the Toyota dealer a free engine? And then contact Mada to check on recall warranty. And then nail dealer..go to TV consumer if need by or BBB.
Joe took the spare wheel off the Nissan Maxima home. Try it on his Pontiac to see if it fits. And it is very close according to internet. If so, he will buy the car from boarder, haul home and take new tires, use the wheels that look almost mag, whatever else he can pull and then junk it. I have not gotten ONE craigs reply in interest on that piece of crap.

I spent 5 minutes on my lawn car. Does that count? Man this sucks! I could go down to the shop, turn on that AC and work on the 49...or not..have to walk down there first. Blah! Newer neighbor is another gearhead. Yippee!
Ever hear of a Doble? Built in Emery, Cali in the 20s. It was a steamer. The electric ignition heated the burner and it took a minute and a half before it would state. Got 75 miles on a gallon of water. It was never advertised. People didnt care for it cause they wanted a faster start. And one other BIG problem. It cost TWELVE THOUSAND dollars! Can you imagine? When T cost under 700! But, it scared the oil industry enough to make them lobby for a bill in the state legislature that would require an operator of a steam car to have an engineer's license. So even back then the bastards were greedy and controlled things in government. Gas is up right now..oh a refinery went down. Bull. It is the last hurrah for summer travel and vacations and plans are set. So the oil lords make and excuse to gouge before winter. Then they can switch to fuel oil and natural and bottle gas! Lets go back to steam. HA! Of course Cali might still be hurting for water then.

I have been out digging shallow trenches for a Temporary Sprinkler System in my Back Yard..Only going down between 2 and 4 inches just enough to bury the pipes so be able to run the mower over top or be able to change location of the Sprinkler Heads in needed

...I have done this before I like to build my Sprinkler System above the ground so to speak until I have all the Sprinkler Heads located to where I want them before going renting a Trencher.. To permanently install the complete system..

Here's the latest on my radiator journey...
They called Wednesday morning and the guy was apologetic about how they could maybe build me a new one for $200 because they couldn't get my "old one" to seal at all... of course I went semi-ballistic on him. I laid a guilt trip on him so deep that he said well lemme see what I can do and we'll get back to you...

He called me yesterday afternoon and said that they had a new one already mocked up and ready to be welded and that it would be shipped probably today if everything goes right!

No charge...

He mentioned how he noticed that I had recommended his company on a couple of the van web sites and he told me to keep up the good work and that he appreciated it! I haven't posted anything about it since I put it in back in 2012! Guess I'll need to let the websites know just how good they really can be!

although, it's not actually here yet, so maybe i am being overly optimistic again...

Nothing like a screaming, disgruntled customer to shape them up. lol. I am getting replise on Craigs for cars posted. And they are all idiots! Sorry..I am not selling you a nice car for a tenth of its' value so you can turn around and re-sell at a giant profit. I tell it as they are....not going to do any good to ask for more. Look at pics...it is not a show car!
I am about ready on boarders Nissan to just call scrapper. Pull the electric seats, and tell him take the tires off and give me whatever. The tires are 225/60/16. Too big and should not have been put on Nissan. But, his replacement Sebring are the 205/60/16 and think he could keep them for putting on it.

Stumbled across the phone# I thought I had lost of a man near me that inherited
two model T fords, one is a roadster coupe 1927 and the other same only a pickup.
I had loaned him two model t books for him to brush up on to get them running after not
have ran for a while. So I called tonight and asked if I could come over and get my
books, and shure says he So I drive over and we visit for about two hours.
And in this time I make him an offer on both cars and he takes tentively one of my offers.
Now my offer was a lot less than his starting price and I'm not buying it now but next year.
And yes the deal could go south but I realy do not think it will as he wants me to have
it so it's close and will get to keep seeing it and maybe meet with his at times.
His he says that he never has got the pickup to run yet, just the one he is to sell to me
is the only one he has gotten to run yet sence he has had them. I have a hunch in time
I will own them both
So next spring I will be able to drive to town for coffee
in a 1927 model T roadster with wire wheels, new top & intier shinny black paint with a nickel size chip in it on the right side Oh

What MORONS EVER decided to make radiators out of plastic!! Or aluminum. All to make a bigger profit!
Joe stayed home. I went to the show alone. Nice day for it..cool, windy and cloudy. Wore a light jacket and it was nice to shop the 600 vendors that park in the open field instead of heat prostration.
Got a few things I wanted...fuse holder for the golf cart, grinding sanding discs..junk. Checked out old planes but not paying 12-15. I know I can find cheaper. May check new price too. Found the molding planes, complete with knives again. 165 now instead of 100. So go without. Saw lots I would have bought when younger..now what for. They said 1000 are slated for next years!
OD'ed on POWEER!!! WOW. I adore those monster steam traction engines. Amazing works of art and machining. How the rods and pistons and boiler and wheels are run so smooth. I cant believe men want to restore them, run them, trailer them and babysit them. Good show..no boilers blew up! Saw a monster diesel engine in trailer that was running. POWER!!! I think it may have been made to generate electricity on job site.
Watched them parade through the grounds..antique and old tractors, traction engines, Stanly Steamer...told the driver he should go to Hollywood and drag race Leno and cracked him up. Lots of hit and miss, gas engines galore, old chain saws and mowers. One 49 Chevy truck..5 window AGAIN! Bagged, velvet flat black, pinstriped and chrome engine I could peep under hood at.
Star..you win...getting your dream next year. Now you have reason to live!

Star..how are you going to get killed in a T? Put and LS in it? Cleaned in my baby carport yesterday. Gained some length..put Impala in..and stills too short! Argh. I built it for my 77 Cadi. Mean to tell me this 02 is as long? Although I did see in traffic stoppage..it is longer than the vans they peddle. So..think I will shore up the end and add another piece of roof. Be nice to not get pine sap on the trunk constantly. Grrr. Now if that damn bat would stay out and stop crapping on the hood all the time.

i'll be on the road again in an hour or less...

NOPE...

they didn't drill holes in the mounting flange...
so i gotta go through the process to measure and mark and remeasure and mark and drill the holes before i can start to install it...

even my good luck comes with attachments...

watching little league baseball and the Pearland team is playing later too!!!

so far i have:
flushed the engine block and the heater core out...
cut part of the aluminum flange that holds the radiator so it will fit in the engine compartment...
marked and drilled the 4 mounting bolt holes into the flanges on the radiator...
put the transmission cooler line adapters on the radiator...
took the fan shroud and hammered it back into shape - it had been dented in the past...
took the fan off so i can work in the space without putting huge dents into the new radiator!
have been looking online for an electric fan to buy and install in it too...
might order one today...

found i needed a new fan belt, and now that it is off it will be easier to replace...

have a couple more things to do and then i can't do much until monday when if i'm lucky i can get a ride into town with a friend to the auto parts store...

as it is now - i'm outta beer!!!
need to hitch a ride down to the local ripoff artist store!

anyone familiar with aftermarket electric radiator fans???

I agree with avoiding Farce book. I have no interest in the WORLD knowing what I am doing! Especially when my life consists mainly of making it through a day to go back to bed. lol. All I know about electric fans is that Joe has one on his custom 58 truck. And it saved us when we sat in traffic that summer forever trying to get into the car show. He said it rarely turns on normally. His truck stayed cool. When we got into the show grounds..there was enough antifreeze running out of cars to scare the crap out of the EPA! If you want, I can ask what brand.
He brought up the golf cart I bought. He fixed whatever it needed and used a quart of 69 Pontiac metallic blue I had and painted it. Harley two cycle. Weird to drive. And run. Step on gas it starts. Off and kills. It goes faster than I care to go. He had to modify the hitch so I can now use my lawn trailer with it. So now more lugging or dragging my old coaster wagon to move crap.
He got into the frame garage. We spent the afternoon and now all the motorcycles sit in the back and the wood chipper, mowers, and brush hog are in front. And all the beetle are swept out along with mouse crap. And I tossed some old carpet and cushions and my childhood mattress and spring. Guess they are not worth hanging onto anymore. No one wants to sleep in a hammock like I did. lol.
Have fun with your custom one size fit all radiator.

The pic above was my old one - I used it because it was already uploaded to photobucket...
Here is the one I am working on now...

I noticed that they made the top more curved on the new one...
Also the lower raditor hose outlet is turned upwards!
Cool...

From the Pleasant Valley Garage
Mowed the yellow sandber weeds off my trap range yesterday, I had mowed it earlier this year and the cows liked the mowed grass and kept it well mowed grass wise but the short grass allowed lots of yellow sticker weeds to grow. I'm having my 2nd annual shoot sept.13
so it's time to prepair for it, ordered 16 large boxes of blue rocks also.

Had tons of burrs. Neighbor said way to rid was to send his kids out to pull by hand. I pulled around buildings. And we mowed the fields. They finally died out. I remember chasing my gelding once wearing moccasins. What the ..why are my feet on lumps. Looked and solid burrs. Pesty things. Now I have dewberry vines. I need to run the Case and buy a gang mower! Either that or a helicopter with ROUNDUP!
I will ask Joe the fan info.

thanks...

this one is three inches thick
and the original i took out was an inch and 3/4's thick...
single core

the new one is double core...

until the cores started rotting away and it started leaking - the previous one was working pretty damn nice! completely forgot about it after a few months because it worked so well...

here's hoping this one lasts more than a year and a half!

OK..first...Joe said no fan is 3000cfm or whatever...they may even post it but dont do it. Second..he used one out of a Camaro..not after market. Any of the name brand fans are equal. But, the ones that were factory are better. And since they rarely turned on, most of the ones in the scrap yards have little wear on them. So go find a junker and get one. Or just do midnight salvage on the street.

I was searching for an electric fan for a Sunbeam Tiger I restored. Tigers overheated easily with a Ford V8 shoe-horned into a 4 cylinder engine bay. Go to Ebay and look. Volvo fans are gooduns.

The first vehicle engine I ever rebuilt was in a Sunbeam Alpine my first girlfriends father owned!

I bought a 16" complete fan kit through ebay...reversible etc...
