i wish
hell i don't even have flow through ventilation in it right now!
i run with the old twin 55's for air!!!
the fan has already been shipped from san bernadino ca
down by la south of me!
might have it by friday
i did my best to measure everything and it looks like it should fit no problem, i checked on the new tranny cooler and it appears that it will fit just fine also...
but, as usual, until i have it in my grubby paws i won't know for sure...

I just checked a few minutes ago and the fan has left Redding, CA which is only 45 miles north of me - so I should have it today! They originally scheduled delivery for Tuesday next week - but it was shipped from southern CA so I figured it would get here faster!

How come one company ships it BEFORE you even order it! And others not that far away take forever?
In town yesterday..crossing town..rattle rattle???? hmm..radio? Then ROAR! DANG IT! Next stop checked the exhaust. Nothing hanging. Man that car is obnoxious loud! Checked at home. Joe said maybe the license plate patch he did, remember. Oh yeah. So looked this am. Nope..that is solid. The pipe broke ahead of the muffler now. Maybe I should consider a new muffler? Now where is a license plate?
Guy emailed on the 99 Nissan I listed. Can do head gaskets. Not willing to pay $450 for car. I wrote..300 in new tires on car. Not worth 450. FINE. Make an offer, trailer and pull wheels back off. Dont want. Then why the hell did you bother moron! GRRRR. I added in listing offer for car only. Joe said worth 200 to someone who needs parts. I may put new ad on next week..car MINUS tires. And then pull the seats, call scrapper and have him pull wheels on trailer and give me whatever for carcass.
Talked to boarder...what was water status. full....and then...bottom of radiator went. No gauges so no idea til stopped. Idiot! He said engine went when map sensor went a while ago. NO! You drove it to camp in a hurry and ignored signs! Radiator was bad top and bottom! I have seen enough cars die cause idiots ignore stuff. Gee..only drove it another month with that problem..no idea WHY it died.

Well, I called my neighbor yesterday morning and chatted with him for a bit. He lives in town with one of his sons and comes out here every few days to take care of his place. He is supposed to take me to town this morning and I am waiting for him right now. While we were chatting yesterday he mentioned that he was coming out here yesterday morning too! I said COOL - can you stop at our post office and pick up my new radiator fan - it will be waiting. He said sure...I waited all day and he never showed up!
If I had known he wasn't going to make it I could have gotten a ride down with one of my other neighbors I would have been able to get it installed yesterday and then had a better idea of what I need from town before I go!!!
I hate not having a second vehicle...
Might have to get a motorcycle of some sort...

Don't know much about cars. My two cents is that one of the nicest cars I have ever owned was a Citron DL.My father taught Auto~Mechanics all his life, good teacher, couldn't teach son, so I became a Proud IronWorker. Walking high Iron & Rigging Skookum Lifts.
I am new here, so I am trying to post something that does not embarrass me and at the same time expose a little of myself.
off topic with majority of my post. Will find more appropriate spot.

Being a Gandy Dancer..no wonder you use that nick name! High steel is insane!!!
Must have frustrated dad no end. lol. I cant stand it when down to one running vehicle. Especially in country. Joe said if I have to replace the muffler on the Impala..costs $300! I HATE NEW CARS!!!! The glass pack burning out on truck sounds grand. Car sounds like a fart popper. Truck needs no more than lead off pipe. Car gets pinhole and computer goes nuts. I thought this car would be trouble free since Hank owned. yeah..right... they always find something to break!

radiator is in...
fan is on and wired in...
now i just have to get one radiator hose hooked up
add the antifreeze and water wetter and water...
then check the tranny and add a little fluid until i can warm the thing back up...
Still have to replace the accelerator pump on the 500 holley carb i have on it and reinstall that - then I might be able to see if the damn thing works or i wasted all my time and money...

Its a project Bub I have procrastinated with in hopes my Useless Son-in-law to help as he promise a number of times but to no avail... Now that he has left and living in PHX AZ I thought I will do it myself and it will get done.. Yep it working great with only couple changes having to be made to cover all the back yard.. So I have it set up to water a bit in the morning at 7AM and again at 7PM...

Nother knob after Nissan. Hope not another tire kicker. Car is what it IS! And that is the price. Take it or leave it. Dont piss me off in this heat or you WILL hear it. 450 with 4 new tires or 200 and leave them behind.

Fired up the van...
Nothing pouring out anywhere or squirting anywhere...good start!
Let it warm up and watched the water, anti-freeze and water wetter in the radiator, move through and added more water and watched until it started getting hot on the temp gauge - turned the fan on and within a minute it was right where it was supposed to be...
I have to pick up a temp controller that sticks into the radiator and get it hooked up. The unit that came with the fan is too big for my old block temp sender.
I have to grease the front end and put the belly pan back on and then clean the damn thing - it looks like a toolshop and junk yard inside right now...
Hopefully I can take it out for a test drive this afternoon and see how it handles being out in almost 100 degree heat...
When I say hopefully it's because of all the aches and pains that have been chasing me since I was forced to start this rebuilding process again! so i r movin sloooowww again right now...
Hope y'all are havin a great weekend...

I see a couple of Gearheads here in the Garage today..
...Nice not to have all to deal with all that Chicken Shit splatted all over place in the garage and now have AC ..
I got to fire up the OLD KAHUNA(72 Riv) today and move it out of a stall in the Big Garage and park it in the Low Level of the Lift as the Old Gray Nag (67 Riv) is taking Squatters rights on the upper level of the Lift.. So I can Park my F-150 in the stall the Kahuna was parked in while I am gone on my Fall Fling..
.................Geeze I have had the F-150 about a year now.. and got 3200 miles on it..
.................As you can tell I am not letting any grass grow under the tires.. Well Maybe???

Are you part of this Ranch For Sale Star...????
................The biggest ranch in America that stretches over 510,000 continuous acres - that's 796 square miles, making it a plot of land bigger than the island of Oahu - has gone on sale for $725million.
Realtors are hoping the Waggoner ranch in north Texas will become the most expensive estate in the world - after slapping the huge price tag on it in the hopes of attracting a Silicon Valley entrepreneur or oil tycoon.
Cattle baron Dan Waggoner established the estate in 1849 - and it has operated with its backwards 'D' logo ever since.
The estate includes the 510,000-acre ranch spread over six North Texas counties, with two main compounds, hundreds of homes, about 20 cowboy camps, hundreds of quarter-horses, thousands of heads of cattle, and 30,000 acres of cultivated land, according to Dallas-based broker Bernie Uechtritz, who is handling the sale along with broker Sam Middleton of Lubbock.
Oil was discovered on the property in 1902 and there are now more than a thousand wells spread across the property.

Went to town this morning and it was in the 70's out and getting hotter. I decided to see what would happen if I did not turn the new electric fan on. Went all the way into town on all of the 55mph roads without turning the fan on! 23+ miles...
Came home at the almost 100 degree mark and had to turn the fan on - but I did about 5 miles of it at 70mph and the rest on 55mph roads...again, I ended up turning the fan off a couple of times because it was cool enough that I didn't need it!
Onto the next problem with the old fart...

I guess the newer cars rarely ever turn on the fan. Congrats on up and running. Do we call you the Van Man now? I told the guy who wants to get my Pontiac going to work off price on 84 truck to hold til cooler. Joe checked the car exhaust. It rusted in bewteen cat and reson. And no pipe left to wrap a license plate around like back. So into town to shop. Steve's said so common, the new resonator auto comes with the split flange. And even with oxygen sensor so close, he knows how to splice pipe in. So be a couple hundred instead of the 600 for a new cat. And then the res. Always something. Hey Bull..you can park the boat tail here. Leave the keys just in case.
Joe tried to fire my brush hog. Ended up taking the carb home to rebuild. That is what happens when things sit for...uh...20 years?

Went into town this morning...used the freeway this time for most of the way and I had not one problem with it getting warm! That's 70+mph legally...
Even running around town it is running better and I don't see anything dripping from underneath now!
I still need a new carb, brakes, brakelines, front shocks and the front end rubber all replaced - bushings etc.
New wiring etc.
Only having a disability income and living by myself makes it hard to budget anything except for long term budgeting... I have to suffer with less of one thing to afford another...
As we all do...

That is the problem with old cars. They always needs just one more fix and part. I thought buying the 02 from friend who cared for it would give me no trouble. Nope. First brake line. Then back of resonator. Now front. Good old Wisconsin salt!
Guy offered 500 for the AMC Rebel wagon I listed at 800. Said 700. He countered with 600. Guess I might as well let it go. Dads old wagon. It is time.

I owned a rare van..65 Chevy with side door. Pain to drive. Sit next to hot engine. Tanky. Finally asked husband why I owned it. He said ...well can load up with people and soda and drive down to river to party. I said..how about we carry the soda down and sell the van. Uh..OK. So he sold it for me. Only time it was nice was the night I got food poisoning and laid on mattress in back while a friend drove me home and husband took him back to his car. Was nice to have a place to DIE!
A guy finally showed up yesterday. Checked out 70 Cadi and we agreed on price. Waiting for him to decide on if he can afford it. Another older gearhead. I finally had to tell him..I need to get back to the roofing before it gets DARK!!
And another guy decided he wants dads antique DB chainsaw. Weird...tire kickers and then all of a sudden real shoppers! Cross fingers. Back to roofing today. Cant believe the rotted shingles and porch wood is fine! See if it holds when I get onto the kitchen roof.

The first semi-trucks I drove were cabovers where you sit next to the motor and when I saw this van I had this weird urge...
I've been slowly getting the doghouse somewhat insulated as I go. One of these days I will have the money to buy the right stuff and get it sealed and insulated completely...
There are a ton of little things that I need to do and can't due to the lack of budget...
I think I bought this one in 97 or 98 and been driving it regularly as my daily driver since 2002....
I wish I was better at remembering dates...I rebuilt this thing sometime around 10 or 11 years ago...Had a quality shop that was old school and the machinist had actually raced motors like mine and was very familiar with them. He did all the machining for me on the block and head - and I ported and polished and gasket matched the head too - in my storage shed! I had an automatic transmission and had it rebuilt with a shift-kit in it and then I took the 3on the tree out and installed everything to turn it into an automatic rig including new driveline and I put a 2.55 rear end in it...
I ordered a custom ground cam from ISKY, I still need a high stall convertor, but I was only shooting for a van that could get out of it's own way when it needed to. Told the machinist that I may be old but I'm not dead yet and I want to be able to screw with the young punks out there - - and I do regularly!!!
Patience is something I have learned to hang onto during this whole process...
Although over the years there has been times that I had to talk myself out of grabbing one of the guns and putting it out of my misery!!!

So..you will end up with a van that pulls wheelies? lol. The bad part of age is realizing the stuff we put off til later is running out of later. Hard to part with dreams. But have to get real. Reason I will part with the Cadi coupe and keep the Cadi limo..same year. Have to prioritize..time and money. Sure would be nice to win Publishers Clearing House. Getting more tire kicker replies on craigs. I wish they would stop getting inspired and salve their egos..I want..I will bug...oh...I dont really want that. Traslation..cant afford a window OR pot. I suppose I should call shop and find out if he managed to cobble exhaust together on Impala.

this is the same model pickup i have sitting up by the shed...
it does not look like that nor does it run like that one!!!
it is also the same model as my van...
if i am able to finish what i want on this - i should be able to regularly hit in the 13's in the quarter mile with it and still get 20mpg doing it...
and go camping with it!
now that i have a bed in the back it's even easier to go camping!!!

I will trade you the computer in my car. Got it back from shop..he put glasspack on instead of resonator. New split flange so quiet again. I laughed..looked under and wire Joe used is still on. So head home and low tire light comes on..pulled over, check and head home. Yesterday checked. All tires fine. Manual says could link to trunk latch, open, push by signal, etc..later!! I was in trunk..I dont see eye thing. ARGH. If nothing else, it replaces the check engine light on. sigh..
Guy was here..5 for two new Colorado plates and 5 for a 79 Iowa and 83 truck plate. Not bad. All they end up here is exhaust patchers. Younger guy wants a collection of every state. Was going to use for bird house roofs but changed mind. Whatever..He didnt want to give 15 for the 60 tagged 58 plate of Bobs. Fine with me then.

Kid came to get the old DB chainsaw dad bought in 54. At least it will get restored to look at now. lol. Guy due later to work on Cadi and make downpayment on it.
I looked on line..????Says turn key to ACC. Pull headlight switch to parking lights 3 times til chimes and that will reset the low tire light. Have to try it and see. I dont know why manual says turn off TRUNK sensor. Which I couldnt find anyway. I hate computers.

Blame the auto makers. People are so dumb these days they wouldnt notice a low tire til flat. And then still drive on it. Cars are babysitters now. Tell the kids everything going on and how to care for the car. Plus find their way home!
Guy was here yesterday for Cadi. Made down payment and swapped tires. One on held air. And all 4 wheels turn. Not bad after sitting for 20 years. Although we did drag it forward two years ago and it rolled except for one that went back to flat right away. He will come back next weekend either with more cash or balance and take car. Miss it. But still have the limo to restore. Cant do them all anymore. And better to sell and see them go to a good home. Told him he will have to bring it back for a ride if I live long enough. lol. He said he went to a Napa store once. Asked for the kit that included the crank. And the kid started off and stopped..came back and asked..what is a crank?
I know they hire dumb but REALLY?
