Police in North Carolina are seriously considering filing charges against Donald Trump for “inciting a riot” at his recent rally in Fayetteville, where supporter John Franklin McGraw punched a protester, leaving him bloody before threatening to kill him “next time.” This comes just a few days after his Chicago rally was cancelled after fights between supporters and protesters broke out.
“We are looking at the totality of these circumstances, including any additional charges against Mr. McGraw, including the potential of whether there was conduct on the part of Mr. Trump or the Trump campaign which rose to the level of inciting a riot.”
It’s very likely that they will find evidence that the Trump campaign was guilty of inciting a riot, because there is a very extensive record of Trump telling his supporters to beat up protesters.
At that very same rally: “Can’t we have a little more action than this? See, in the good old days this didn’t use to happen, because they used to treat them very rough. We’ve become very weak. The audience hit back. That’s what we need a little bit more of.”
March 11: “Part of the problem … is nobody wants to hurt each other anymore.”
March 9th: “In the good old days this doesn’t happen because they used to treat them very, very rough.”
March 4th: “Try not to hurt him. If you do, I’ll defend you in court, don’t worry about it.”
Oct 23: “See the first group, I was nice. Oh, take your time. The second group, I was pretty nice. The third group, I’ll be a little more violent. And the fourth group, I’ll say get the hell out of here!”

Obviously, Trump has been inciting racial violence at his rallies with his hateful rhetoric and open encouragement of violence in the face of dissent, then claiming ignorance whenever the media calls him out on it. With luck, the North Carolina police will deliver a message that Trump won’t be able to ignore.
