Lurking is allowed, but look forward to having you throw in a few comments also. Something to make us smile if not down right laugh. Good to see you Sheeza. Know you're really enjoying yourself since you don't have to check in to work on a daily basis. Retirement is wonderful. Can find something to do on a part time basis if you get bored and then know you don't have to stick with it if you decide you want to leave. What can they do, fire you?

I do not watch much regular tv.. I do like the cooking shows on cable, and since we got rid of cable 2 years ago, we see them on Hulu..

~ hummm ...... noticed my typo above, but seems ya got it.

Big Bang ~ I think because I started watching it from the beginning and I've got to know the history of the characters it makes it funnier. Example the episode last night I guess would not have been as funny if you had not seen others. Anyway it had me genuinely laughing out loud last night. I think if anyone heard me they would think I was the single neighbor that laughs out loud when by herself. I guess the reason I mentioned it is because I was due for a good laugh, you know the kind that heals your soul. I needed that. My sister watches the show so when I watch something really good I can always call her to have someone laugh with me. *LOL* (oh gosh, I"m such a dork)

Since I take TV in spells (when it's cold outside or way too hot) so don't have cable. Our local stations have several choices these days and if I want more then I plug in a DVD. Anyway, I get three stations for PBS and there is a show called Doc Martin. Takes a little while to get to know his personality, but he is a grump. I think it's funny. He has a phobia of blood and shuts his eyes when drawing a sample to keep from passing out. Then he hates dogs but this little one has taken a liking to him and wants to follow him around. He snapped at it one day and it retaliated by lifting it's leg on his shoe.

Cant stand that show anymore than Seinfeld or any of that genre. I am happy that Xena is on one channel in re-runs again. Not that I ever remember when it is on..sigh... There are a bunch of new shows out this fall. The trailers look like some may be good. Only bad part is often the trailer IS the only good part.

Ended up sitting at demo derby with a neighbor. He spent the pre-start telling me EVERY detail of his girlfriend he was going to marry and after 7 years she left him. Seems she had a heart attack and died and came back. Due to smokes and booze. He had quit and told her she needed to back off. So she left and joined up with an 85 year old alchi so they can drink together. Then he kept talking to her to come back and quit boozing and she got a restraining order on him. Then she called HIM..take me back, sell your house and acres for 300k and we can move like you want to Tennessee. So he wrote a love note and put it on her windshield. Cops saw, called gal, she said read and trashed. They told him to come to cop shop, handcuffed him, locked him up and he paid 1500 with credit card to get out in a couple hours. Still waiting to get it back after charges were dropped. He is 77 and gal is 54. Wouldnt it be better if cops went after those guys driving drunk for the 10th time or with suspended for the 15th!?
I know I read in the paper about my tenants ex gal pal found in the park, passed out drunk on the ground and arrested for not making a court date previous..misdemeanor...I find it pathetic..she is 50! Grow up and learn!!

Orz, do you think this guy learned anything or is he up to getting right back in the mess. Do me in one time and your fault, second time and got noone to blame by myself. JEEZE....can't believe some people fall for this kind of crap. Sure, sell you place for 300K and let me enjoy helping you spend it.

Yesterday was one for the record in my life. Son called at 8 AM asking if I would like to go with him on a dune buggy ride. YES, was out of my mouth before sense kicked in. WHEW, talk about a ride. Down, down, down to the pits of the ravines, around clifts, cross creeks, and let me tell you the water was COLD. Looked like a hog that had mired in the mud all day once we got out of there. Told son at one point to get his list of pall bearers together because some day he would need them to haul my carcus out of a place like that.

All said, it was a good day. Can still walk this morning. LOL. The flora and fauna was to die for with plenty of wild flowers in bloom of which I hadn't seen in eons. So nice to spend the day with my son away from the hassles of the world.

Star..you are probably down now due to recovery. But, weather may be doing it too. My guts were riled yesterday and felt like I couldnt inhale. Even tho I could. Air pressure, temp and humidity all tell on us.

Still operating this morning but thinking I'm just on 4 cylinders after the buggy ride on Sunday. Oh well, today is mine and time to recoup. Didn't hear from my son yesterday and wondering how he made it through the ordeal. Then I happened to think "don't suppose he ask me to go along on these adventures to speed things up" because I just told him where to find the paperwork for my retirement life insc. Just kidding about that.

My outlook is that if it's a good day, make the most of it because tomorrow isn't guaranteed. Also, as we get older we are more appreciative of the quality times we spend with our children. I've only the one and am very thankful. Still amazes my friends that he ask me to go along in a crowd of people his age for some adventure like we had on Sunday. Guess he's gotten past the age to be ashamed of being seen around the old folks.

Problem that young dont think about..is as go I, so shall YOU! I wish I had the immortality of youth again. Time stretched so far we couldnt imagine the end of it. Do it tomorrow, next week..next year. No longer a guarantee. Guess you raised YOUR kids right.

Sankie .... loved that you had that quality time with your son. That's how I was when my son and I went Jeeping/rock crawling in Moab a few years ago. My daughter in law has no idea how many brownie points she got for us taking that overnight trip without anyone else. OMGosh ...... I totally LOVED it. Rare and very memorable. That was my first rock crawling trip and so proud of his driving. About 3/4 of the way through I learned we were doing the "difficult" trails. Amazing views and the quality time with him was priceless.

Orz ..... I hope our neighbor wised up. It still amazes me that guys around the age of 52 keep trying to talk me into meeting them. I mean really do I look like a sugar Ma'ma or something??

Sheeza, hope this doesn't post twice because started then hit some button and it went away. ???

You certainly are a Sugar. Always so pleasant and upbeat. Couldn't believe it when I read your post the other day about your de-toxing and how you had felt prior. If you were depressed it certainly didn't come through to the world when you were posting. Many times I've read something you have written and think "wish I was more like her".

I look at temps that are record highs and see them across the last two centuries. I remember a wet year maybe 25 years past where it rained so much, the water couldnt go anywhere any more and my fields full of soybean blackened and rotted and died. The water didnt go down until Sept.
Woke up in night and tongue hit roof of mouth..ow. ??? So looked in mirror in bathroom and there were a bright red dot. Got up this am and it isnt sore to tongue but spread a tiny bit. So of course..what do I think...? CANCER! Argh..damn media anyway. I am thinking I have a bad habit of crushing Cheetos against my palate with my tongue. So common sense would say raspled it that way. I guess I am paranoid since husband had tonsil cancer and am aware of how horrid mouth cancers can be for mutilation. I want to go back to youth when you notices a sore and went ..whatever! Now we check ourselves over looking for crap! I need to stop watching TV and ads that are after money and panic us all into thinking we are walking time bombs!

Well..as usual..thank goodness...mouth is healed. Note to self..do NOT smash Cheetos against palate. Guy showed up yesterday with his boom truck. The oak by farmhouse is down and the major limbs over bodyshop is down and the main wire now is onto an insulator instead of the tree trunk. He was going to show up today and didnt..left truck here. Wonder why? Couldnt be heart attack survivor who spent 6 hours in a bucket at age 60, holding a hunk of tree weighing 100+ and cutting it off with his right arm holding the saw out! My tenant was working and his buddy the lawyer. Turns out this guy is the lawyers ex brother in law. Sure is nice to know people who know people. And he refuses to take cash. Said would do it if I wasnt a good person. Lawyer said I told you she was.
I went later and pruned off branches on the pile by the bodyshop so Bob can just cut logs. and then later yet, went and started to chink the barn rocks. I wonder what moron ever invented DRY stacked walls! This am helped put in 80 bales of hay. Must be summer finally..

I usually don't drink coffee this late at night but it might taste a little better than a can of diet pop.

And it's cold enough in the house, so the coffee tastes good.

Weather improved a little the last couple of days. The humidity dropped and it was actually decent to get outside without feeling like a 200 pound gorilla was setting on your chest and cutting off your air.

Saw on the news that some silly group has challanged the Cincinnati Bengals to change their name to the same as the gorilla in the zoo that had to be killed to save the 4 year old that had gotten into the compound. Now, where are the tree huggers? Won't they ask someone to change the name of something to save an endangered species of a reptile or something?

Forgive me, just gabbing.

~ I like animals as well as the next person but I wish groups like that were concerned over children being abused, used in sex trafficking and use that energy, media and funds to do something about it instead of getting the name changed for a football team. **just saying**

Things like this probably aren't new, just that the news is giving it more air time. Yes, it's sad to hear and then realize a lot of these abused children are in the welfare system; therefore, someone should have noticed. Remove the child from the home and put the parents in jail. As soon as the child is settled Mom is released from jail and promises to attend a drug abuse program so back to the same old life for the child. What I can't understand is the children at the day care facilities that are being left in the transport vans until parents inquire where their baby is. Found on the other day that was left in the van outside the day care until 2 0-Clock in the morning. When mother came in from work the teenage daughter of 16 said child had not come home. Why did it take until 2 0-clock in the morning to find the child? Why not earlier when the toddler was to get home? The 16 year old should have known something wasn't right. ???

We are becoming a nation were everyone only thinks of them self and the rest of the time they do not think at all.
just like who to vote for? is an easy question for a thinking American but so many have a hard time getting it right for lack of thinking & other than self.

Cant understand people except to come to the conclusion that each gen has gotten dumber and dumber! Parents act like Downs syndrome people and they are smarter than some of these parents! How can you forget your kid in a car. How can you not figure out cars get HOT in the sun!
Tenant called...Doug and Steve here..what tree do you want cut. So the oak overhang by main house is now a pile of brush and limb chunks on the ground. And half of my canopy carport is back into the first half. More work. Oh well..keeps me young. And never look a gift horse in the mouth.

If it is close to the power lines might the city take it down if it is a threat?
.... *i guess that's crazy talk to think the city would do it*

Ya, the city would wait until the tree crashed into everything and then point fingers at who's fault it was!

There is a house next door that has been empty for nearly ten years. The tree in front of it is rotting so bad the inside of it is spilling out onto the ground. The city has their mowers come to mow the place about once a month. They put a sign on the door that the home
owner will be charged for the mowing. HUH? The city took the power boxes off that house years ago! It's been empty for nearly ten years! Morons!

Guess they cant figure out vacant. Sounds like it is their heads that are vacant with no one home!
Bob must have come up and dragged the brush across the driveway. Unfortunately he put it on the old brush pile I have been reducing. sigh..well..guess it is half way to main one at least. Fuzz is home today and sighed and said he will take it down to the right pile.
I will head to barn and chink chink chink......

Now that it's Monday guess I'll get back into the groove and see what I can accomplish. Weekend sort of dull since heavy rains expected. BUT...front from the south that was dumping all the rain in Louisiana went west of here and we stayed HOT & DRY. End of the week is looking more promising and temperatures to drop to low 80's. Can't believe it's already the 15th of August.

~ I'm with you Sankie ....... time to get some things done today. This weekend was pretty much a bust. I've already got wash going, called about an appointment, showered and got myself together even blew dried my hair to wear it down. I've been keeping it up so much because of heat it actually feels odd having it down this morning. Eventually I'm going to need to make a run for groceries and I've actually been making a list.

81* with heat index of 87* ~ High today of 96*

Took some chicken out to thaw for lunch, making that my bigger meal of the day.

So what's up folks???

With all this humidity lately, I haven't been doing much. It's time to pay the piper! Need to go to the bank and pay some bills! (Today is the day)
Maybe find some trouble to get into along the way...

I think even my car needs gas!
(When it rains it pours)!
(What company said that)?

I still am feeling crumby. So Glen called..be over with 40 bales of hay by 3. sigh...I heard the chainsaw this am. Bob/tenant must be home today and working on all those pieces of oak and maple all over down below. Or he just worked a couple hours and still works tonight. He gets those done by the farmhouse and barn he can get up here and do these. I had Fuzz drag the branches Bob pulled across the drive to the CORRECT brush pile. Just because it isnt mowed or planted does NOT mean it is the woods!
Got more chinking done on barn wall. The bags Joe gave me are too big stones. It is extra strength slab type. So did one tub and will use the rest on the ground level. Went back to the stuff I bought.
Dry stacked walls certainly differ. Some were packed with small stones between rocks. Some were mortored both sides. Some were filled gaps with mud. Either way...either the sand filterer out in the inside of these walls. Or they never put anything but some small stones to fill gaps. I do find some sand mix mortor inside the wall. But, more big gaps. So take a handfull of concrete, reach in between rocks, feel for gap and stuf and stuff. Use a stick sometimes if it works out to stuff til cant stuff no more. Sounds like a Thanksgiving meal. lol.
