I've not played pool in a long time either. At one time I wasn't so bad but I know I've lost my mojo.

My husband was a pool hustler long back. I was the master of bluff. I played by the banzai method mostly. Hit ball, and see what happened. And then pretended I planned that. Secretly I was thinking..what the hell just happened and how?
One time when working at the bar..a c--- drove up in her Mercedes. She came in with a case. Got a drink and put her stick together and challenged us. The couple of guys said no. And my boss said play her. I declined and she said go..I'll watch the bar. So I did. And beat her somehow. Gal went back, undid stick, chugged beer and left. We all died laughing. I said of all the times that I actually could hit them..that HAD to be the best!

Played pool with grandson (for the first time in my life) and really enjoyed it. He was good about explaining the principals of the game. Like you, I whammed the ball and watched where it went. Beginners luck, so to speak but I beat him 2 of the 4 games. Also, reminded me of the time when son's father took me to a clay pigeon shoot. He insisted that I shoot a few rounds with the guys. Busted 7 out of 7 and then said "enough". I quit while I was ahead and left the guys thinking I knew how to shoot. It was simple luck but I didn't admit it.

The shooting reminded me of the first time I fired a shotgun. Was a teenager and didn't know to squeeze it tight into my shoulder. BOOM, and it knocked me on my hindend.

Old age is taking it's toll on my shooting sports as many I now have stoped or nearly so.
However their are so many ways to enjoy shooting I still have many ways of enjoying the sport. The last one I expect to give up is collecting guns

I painted the site white. Kinda of can see it. lol. When I was 16, dad decided to go deer hunting again after years. Mom said not going. So I volunteered. Dad bought himself a Savage 30/30 and said I would use his shotgun. I had never shot anything but a .22. So he got the gun and slugs and showed me how to load. Took me out in the drive and said aim at the wood pile and shot. Now hold it tight to your shoulder. Welll..I THOUGHT I did. OWWWW!!! Dad said tighter. I shot again and it was better. But, I know if I would have seen a deer that year, I would have pictured the wood pile and thought and then SHOOED the deer away. SCRAM! lol.

Woke to dreary and very wet morning. Happy it's wet and not the white stuff. If I want a white Christmas I can use my imagination. Have a great day.

Yes, Weren't we suppose to party until 1999?
Some did, some didn't, some still are, Some can't remember!

Ahhh, the year 2000 - The year everything was suppose to shut down and not reset! Doesn't seem like that happened 16 years ago. The great saying I try and live by "This too shall pass" - It did.

That is the advantage of age. The only one? lol. We can look back to years gone by and see what really happened. When we were kids, things were always critical mass. I remember when Kennedy was shot and mom telling me, dont worry. Government is planned for it and will go on.And her calm demeanor calmed me. And she was right. Our daily lives plodded on as normal. So except for major wars, this country and the average guy just goes New Year to New Year and none of the Chicken Littles are right. I just cant figure out how I am looking at 2017!!!!! Where the hell did it go! I blinked once or twice?

Some of the flying may also be from some of the meds. Been under the weather the last week with a virus and it's certainly kicked my behind. Today seems I may be on the mend. Hope so because if this is all I have to work with, just take me on out. Haven't had anything like this in years. Slept through New Years so expect it got here.

Isn't it amazing how something as "minor" as a cold can kick azz! And yet the medical industry treats them as trivial.
I went to toss cats out for the night. And Two Spot played catch me if you can...damn you cat! Under and through and vanish. Fine. Take Steamboat to kitchen, shut LR door and go to put her out. Run! Under the table. I WILL get you. Move chairs and climb under table. Where the??? Under buffet. Under table. OK...how can a cat completely disappear? Fine..go check on 2. HA! She came out from under the baby grand and is laying all innocent on the sofa. GOTHCA! OUT. And then there sit mama by the chair. DUH! She had hid under the pie safe! I guess it is cold out. She got the boot and a couple others were sitting by the door.. NO!

One day I think I will survive the bout of this stomach thing, the next I don't know. Weaker than a kitten and food is awful. Hits my stomach and turns nasty. My best friend right now is the Clay filled microwave heating pad. Pop it in for a couple minutes and wrap in a towel then go to the couch and stuff it behind my back. Now that feels good. Was out the other day and went through the pharmacy section at Walmart. Just in case I over heat and it pops a seam, then I have a backup. Love this thing. Gave one to my cousin for Christmas because she has a lot of arthritis. She used it the other night and really enjoyed it. Much better than a regular heating pad.

Watching TV and radio NPR. How come no matter what is the "occasion", there are jack asses who "protest". And the main thing they want to do is break windows, loot, start fires and riot. I heard an announcer say he asked some and they said it wasnt anti Trump. They hate him, hate Hillary and just hate it all. These are the idiots who have no goals. Just want an excuse. I wish they would go into depth on these pests and find out if they work, own and are worth anything at all. The logical protesters get their permits, stay sane and make a point.

All the noise of protesting is because there are always a group that's looking for the next band wagon to jump on. The louder and more exposed they are, the better they like it. Other than a lot of noise and filling the news media with plenty to talk about, what are they going to accomplish? We have our President even if it isn't satisfactory to a lot of people and basically it's the same as any other election. We have the leaders that were voted in and screaming, marching, and acting like the group is the only people to have an opinion just shows the mentality and isn't gaining the respect they are begging for. They say the squeaky wheel gets the oil but with so much of that many ragged women making so much noise it only leads to a deaf ear.

Yeah, it's because women have been marching for a long time. We've marched ourselves to school to get an education. Then we've marched ourself to work to improve our life. Then we've marched out on some guy who didn't appreciate us. So, yes half the country is divorced, but it takes two to tango.

What burns my buns is all the survey's they publish. They say "Trump entered office with the least rating of any other president". I don't recall them asking me for my vote, so how can they come up with a percentage that is smoothed over to appear that it represents everyone instead of a select few. Ratings and political survey's are a bunch of figures that only brain wash those too dense to think through the facts of real life.
As I've heard said for most of my life. Say something one time and it's a statement, repeat three times, and it becomes fact.

That is what is the joke. Stats can read however you want. The polls prior said one thing..but,how many people actually WERE polled. And actually answered the phone. It is like having a flock of poultry, hens, geese, turkeys. Stand at the door just opened and the first out are 10 geese. And then say the flock is geese cause they walked off before the hens came out.
The bad part is so many people listen to mass media and never question anything. We still have free "press" via internet but how many go researching anything. And then with all the fake crap on it, what of that cant one believe. Might as well go back to reading the National Enquirer and Star. According to them, Cher is dead along with a ton of others. And with photo shop now..cant believe a thing. Although after some of the plastic surgery done on Kenny Rogers and a few others..who needs photoshop to make them look like warmed over corpses.

I've always had a problem with people who take things at face value without looking behind the scenes for the truth. That's what feeds rumors and gossip and is nothing but trouble. Say something about it to someone and they take it as an insult. Oh well, the world doesn't turn on my opinions but I am a realist and take little at face value. Don't believe me, just look at the mouse print to find the real facts.

A distant cousin whom I like very much had a very nice day yesterday. She has been under a lot of stress for about 3 years now. She and husband split because he was drinking and thinking he was living the high old life. She had warned him many times that she wasn't living with that and of course he always promised to do better. Broke his ankle one day and couldn't walk on his foot for over a month. At the time they were building a new home and had finished the basement to live in so they could slowly finish the upstairs as they got the funds.
She went somewhere one day and when she got home, she caught him on the stairway with a 24 pack of beer that he had hidden upstairs in the unfinished part of the house. Now mind you he couldn't go to the kitchen to get himself a cup of coffee, but caught her gone and got himself upstairs for the hidden case of beer. LOL.
Needless to say the chit hit the fan and she left his hindend. She has a small house in town that belonged to her and she held onto it just because she could have the pride of knowing not everything came from husband and it gave her a sense of accomplishment and freedom.
OK, she removed herself from the drinking issue because after a few beers his personality changed and he would make fun of her as if she was not very valuable, then be on the verge of loosing his temper.
So, out she went. A couple months later he found that he had prostrate cancer and was one of those who automatically signed himself off with the diagnosis. He battled for the past year and passed a week ago. Even though they were seperated she hadn't filed for divorce, etc. She stuck with him and offered help when needed, but his mother and sister rebelled against any contact that she may have with him. It was all her fault and she'd moved out on him when he was ill. At the time she left he nor she had any idea this was going to happen. So with the estrangment of his family and one son together, they started giving her problems and since the son was relying on his aunt to help with doctor's visits, etc. during the day he asked his Mother to cut all ties and not be around even if delivering food or offering to help with doctor's visits, etc. NOPE, just stay away and son was the power of attorney by then. Hurt her very badly but she backed off, but still pushed the situation a little bit. So when he passed there were wedges in the relationship between mother and son and when the obit was written, all the surviving family were listed first, etc. Then the very last mention was her but not as surviving wife but as the "mother of his children". That hit her like a ton of bricks and she took it that it sounded like she was a street walker that had two children by him.
She confided in me during this past year knowing that I would not run through the family spreading what she had told me. Anyway, I kept encouraging her to do what was right for her as long as husband was acceptable. I then advised her to set the son down and tell him to back off because even with the situaion the matter was between husband and wife regardless of what the mother and sister felt. I advised that she should do what she felt was right for herself because regardless of the seperation he had not pushed for divorce and their relationship was between them and regardless there were still memories and a life they had together for all those years.
So, the funeral and she was not welcome but pushed herself into the visitation and funeral service. Son asked that she have a seat on the second row and not on the front with the family. She was very hurt to say the least, but she is strong enough to stand up against the odds. Needless to say it was not a good situation for her to endure.
Well yesterday son called and was cleaning out Dad's apartment and called to ask if she would like to have the couch. There was a written agreement between her and husband that whatever assets he had were to go directly to the son and she was asked to meet at the attorney's office to sign off on it. She said they had divided the assets when she moved out so there was nothing she wanted. She had a couch for which she didn't like so son asked if she wanted his Dad's couch. He brought it to her house then helped her with arranging some heavy furniture she had moved because she's been remodeling a couple of rooms since Thanksgiving and had shoved it to the middle of the rooms. So, they spent the afternoon together and she said it was strained but she was happy that perhaps the hurt feelings weren't going to be eternal. I was happy for her and that put a nice cap on my day.

With luck, now that pops is dead, the son will start to see she was NOT the problem. She took a chance staying married cause she could be libel for debts he had..like medical bills. Always risky with todays laws.
Our friend is AA. He met a gal at meeting and moved her in because he said she needed overlooking and help to stay dry. So when he was at work, she walked over to the bar. And then she started to pick up beer and hide it in the toilet tank and elsewhere and be tipsy when he got home. He finally told her, not hiding anything. If she had to drink..do so in front of him. We didnt like it because of tempting to him. But, he held fast. Finally it got to the point he said out. We helped him move her to the city 100 miles away. Time passed and her daughter basically wrote her off. Then she got cancer, asked him to take her in. And he did. Kept her and cared for her til she died. He called the daughter who did do the burial stuff. Took a few things and said he should keep the rest of her stuff. I helped him sort and box the stuff for him to clear out.
Some people you just have to let take their path to destruction.
Same crap happened to neighbor Eric. He got limited access to kids with divorce issues. And for a year or more never got to see his handicapped child. The kid died in his sleep at 7 or so and he was not included in the funeral and never mentioned in obit. And ex had headstone to mention sibs and her, not him. How can people be so petty?

It is a common trait for some to feel they must be in control or they've gone nowhere. It only shows the lack of that person, not their abilities.
We had this one girl in the lab that I worked in and it was her belief that unless she was promoted up the ranks that she hadn't accomplished anything. She had several years in and so did a lot of us. There was an opening for the lab super and the job was open to the employees of the lab first, then if no takers or qualification, then the job was posted for the remainder of the plant employees. If no takers there, then advertised to the public.
You know this gal jumped all over the chance to get to be super. The managment came to me and asked why I showed no interst. My reply was that "Heck, I can piss enough of them off just being their co-worker that I don't need to be the supervisor and really piss them off because I got into their stuff because they didn't want to apply themselves to the job". I told them that I was fine where I was and had no visions of being a supervisor. They left me alone. What they actually wanted to do was start some chit among the lab environment. They tried to convince everyone that they were there with our interst in mind, but as normal they wanted to stir in it.
Well the gal got the job and really showed just how unqualified she was. It was her way or no way. The employees for the most part had enough time and experience under their belt and by then most of us had racked up several years on the job. The best way to handle the crazy chit was to perform a task exactly as she dictated and offer no more than she asked.
The results were that production slowed, the quality of the product was suffering and she was signing off on release of the products at the low end of the specks that were set for each product. The final result was that the products were not performing for the customer as they had been used to having, the reputation of the company label was suffering, and the amount of recalled products soared which cost the company big time bucks.
You think the corporate office didn't notice this? They came from Cleveland corporate office in mass and really cleaned the entire factories clock. Of course they started with the plant manager and worked their way down. Came to the meeting of the lab employees and by then we had plenty to say because there was no way to escape the reality that the problems were caused by our department. They then heard a lot more than they were able to process in one meeting. We were asked to provide records to support our claims, etc. No problem because all we had to do was pull the individual product record and show the specks on the product that had been approved by the supervisor. Turned out that she decided to demote her position rather than take the heat. We then got back on target and took the responsibility of doing the job as best it could be done.
That just goes to show that sometimes the way to cure the problem is to go along with whatever you're faced with and let the controller cut their own throat. One thing for our departments employees is that we stuck together instead of sucking up to the boss to get our brownie points. There's more ways than one to skin a goose and when necessary they really look nice laying there with no feathers. LOL.

I had a gathering of friends at my house yesterday.
The theme was a salad party.
All kinds of salad were had by us.
It was a good time.

Read ten things that will be gone in ten years. Keys is one..everyone will use fobs and cells to open doors. Dont count on it! Another will be fast food workers except mgmt. Good to be that Fuzz! Because of them wanting $15 an hour, they will switch to self ordering kiosks. I told that to Fuzz when he got home from Taco Bell and work. He said PLEASE! Let the idiots stand for a half hour and change their mind and screw up their own orders. I'd like..no..cancel...do the...no..cancel...lets get a ****** but no sauce. No..cancel...a different sauce..that one..no cancel..that one. I think they better have 20 kiosks because people will be standing in line even longer!
I ran into an article that Walmart filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy in Jan 2016. Cant find any second one to back it up though. They are doing super poorly. Cant compete against Amazons prices. Closed a K of stores. But, most were in S.America and Europe. Dumb move they made to start with. They thought the countries would welcome them with open arms. Found out those countries LIKE mom and pops and didnt flock in.
If Walls close in cities, will leave tons of people in the lurch that dont, wont, or cant order via on line from Amazon and others. I see they destroyed the down town of here. So if they close, no house hold linens/furnishings. No clothing stores nor lots of others that they pushed out. And then what. The old people closed stores in part cause kids didnt want them. So now that kid has to start from scratch? Yeah..that will happen.

No but I heard about it last night and thought of you. The storms that raced through here (naturally in the wee hours) wasn't as rough as I thought they were going to be. Lucky this time around. Temp started dropping around daylight and was a good thing because had it been immdediate behind the storms we would be picking our junk up over in the next county today.

Had a few minutes relaxation time last evening. Nothing on TV worth the electric so picked up an old Life magazine dated Jan 20, 1947 to thumb through it. It was full of WWII articles and I became lost in it for awhile.

Trip back in time? I went to a Sha Na Na/Frankie Avalon concert at the casino last eve with Fuzz. He got the tickets for my Bday. Talk about looking around and thinking I was at a meeting of monks..bald pates galore. He was one of the few that were not over 50 or more. Sha na na was good. But weird to see all those OLD men on stage performing songs I remembered. Bowzer is not dead I found out...he quit years back and performs with his own band now. And advocates for seniors. lol. Others that quit became medical people and more.
When it came time to high kicks, one or two of the guys didnt even try. Bad hips?
Frankie is the real one. He is 76 and looks great. No stupid plastic surgery. His show started out slow, but he got into singing more half way. Interesting show. He is a performer now..does it like an interview, history, comedy and commentary. He showcases guys that are gone and does snippets of songs they did. His son is the drummer and one guitar is son of an Everly Brother and sounds just like daddy. It was a trip back in time. He came into the audience too. What is nice now is the screens super large on sides so you can see close or on stage at distance. He show home movie of kids. Funny..his wife is shown in the same dress every PG. 8 kids. Bet she wished he would have been on tour more! So it was a long show and no one on stage or in audience had a heart attack.
