This is a place for friends to gather, chat, jibe, and generally laugh. Also, a place we can go when we need a shoulder to lean on and appreciate the support of whatever leads us to need kindness. We may not know each other personally, but the kind remarks and general love offered to me by some in DH is worth more than I can repay, ever.
A difference of opinion is acceptable, but not insulting anyone else's intelligence because they are not on the same band wagon as yourself. We can agree to disagree, but this is for the purpose of friends to meet and share.
Will start with this past weeks experience. Heck, I think I'm up-to-date (for the most part). Admitted to the hospital and paperwork. Sign off on this, on that, know your rights (of which you have none) on and on. Presented with a form required of my signature on the smoking policy. It said that I understood there was no smoking and if I chose to leave the building to do so it was automatic dismissal for which I understood that I would assume all cost related to the hospital stay. OH HELL, that got my back up. In recent year all the legalization of marijauna, the fact that druggies can now crawl from behind a dumpster and have the police to drive them to the health dept to exchange their dirty needles for clean ones then get patted on the back and wished well as they leave the facility at our expense. Can smoke marijauana but not tobacco. HECK NO, light a tobacco product (cigarette), and you're the boil on the butt of humanity. Now tell me. Is this world upside down?
I agree, smoking is not good regardless but it is a choice and shouldn't be thrown at someone who doesn't partake. It requires respect of fellow man, safety cautions, and should be cleaned up because tossing butts on the sidewalk isn't fair to those who have to look at them or clean them up. Shouldn't toss out the car window, but no ashtrays in todays vehicles and to use an ashtray is a traffic hazard (of which I remind myself not to go off on that person because they are driving along with me).
OK, off my soapbox.

Hi GF! Gee! Who runs that hospital? The Gestapo? Talk about gall. I know some hospital now dont allow people to smoke outside. But, they usually offer a space to. I hope it is nothing serious for you. ???
Neighbor Wayne called today. He was on phone over weekend..his dog is also Slithers age. Health issues. I told him to wait til today. If worse over holiday could always get to emergency in city. So dog Moose was the same til the holiday ended. Life is so freaky. I still cry over Slithers death and leaving me. And his dog who played with her when they were pups is half of her breeds..Golden Retriever.
So>>>>>>>>> took Moose in this am. And he said the vet took an xray NOW. Last week just checked teeth and temp. Get this..the dog has a tumor in the SPLEEN. Same as mine had. The vet told him hard to say if cancer..checking more may blow it or do worse. He was crying and so was I. I said all you can do is pamper him for the days, months...
It is like Wakan Tanka is trying to show me...what was was and nothing I could have done would have saved my baby. Life is weird.
So I now have a kitten and ma pile on the floor at my feet. And when they turn into a stampeding buffalo herd..scoop the four up and dump out the door! ENOUGH! Scram back to the wood shed! I will send you a pic to post if you would. You know except for attachments..I cant do anything with pics. And to you my ill GF...

Good morning. Things looking up around here. Going to take more than a spider to kill this one and in the interim perhaps happened for a purpose. I had to clean out a bunch of people during the espisode.
Was sorting through a box of books someone gave me. Ran across one titled "Someone Knows My Name". It hit me like a back handed slap. I certainly knew how that felt with the ER and hospital experience. Anyway, I kept the book. It's about this little black girl (50's era) who was raised being ignored and abused. Then one day a kind person on the street asked "Honey, what is your name" and with that she became visible and someone cared enough to ask. WOW.

There is actually a pretty interesting reason for NOT smoking while hospitalized. Drug interactions. If you are in the hospital for a procedure, you will quite often be given drugs that you aren't used to for anything from pain to mild sedation to full anesthesia. Not being in that business these days, how much does a dosage have to be adjusted if you smoked a cigarette, 5 cigarettes, 10 cigarettes, in the last 24 hours?
And then there is a liability risk. You may be willing to assume a risk, but your relatives wont. The hospital records need to record whatever you are taking and doing, so docs can make decisions based on known factors. Did you smoke 1, did you smoke 10? If they dont know and prescribe something that goes wrong and there is a connection to smoking, the relatives will be at the courthouse door before you are in the ground. So, if you wont play by the rules, go somewhere else.
Sorry to be harsh. People in needle exchange programs are not generally at the same time getting surgery or other such interventional treatment. And if they are, the docs know about it and adjust for the risk.
So thats the way it is going to be. Live with it.

There is a difference between knowing about the smoking and dumping someone out of the hospital cause they do. Isnt improving a persons health what they do. Sankie, welcome to my tech world. lol. Anyone else care to post pics of cute kittens on here for me?

Thanks for your post; I was told pretty much the same a week before undergoing surgery (2001). I also was told no to touch a cigarette 72 hrs. prior to the procedure. Well, 2/11/01 was the last day I smoke in my life.

Thumbs up Duchessa. Congratulations on kicking the habit. I know you're proud of yourself.
Claifying a point on my smoking story and hospital, etc. I agree smoking is not good in any given situation. Take the health of the smoker and the others which encounter and mya have related health issues. Then there's the safety issue. Certain things, certain places, and YES not all life styles are good for any of us. Having said that, I probably am a bit predjuice with the smoking issues because I live in the Tobacco Belt and it was the top cash crop, so farmers suffered with the loss of tobacco production. (Now they've gone from that to the coal production) and another huge economic loss.
Just putting the pieces together of how crazy the world is. Someone starts a band wagon, plenty jump on. BUT....laws passed where marijuana can now be purchased legally in how many states? How is that ingested into the body?....by smoking.
THEN, tax payer expense for needle exchange. Oh but that's alright. It's now acceptable.
Transgender bathrooms..........That's OK also because some silly nut can't or won't say "this is the real world, so learn to live with it". OH NO..must not hurt these peoples feelings because they have civil rights".
WELL....what about the others, especially smokers of tobacco products. They are NOT the boil on the butt of humanity. Just a case of "someone approves of the latest adventure and bashing of the others who don't neatly fit the current and acceptable pattern of the society we live in".
May be tough way to say it, but with all the meaness, child abuse, murdering, and running over of good people by pure common trash that gives a damn less for you or what you've worked hard for IT's time for the gallows on the courthouse lawn and a few public hangings. Jails are so full of these the system is burdened because there are not enough beds for them. Put them up with cable TV, slap their hands, and back on the street for you and I to dodge in a grocery store parking lot because they're going to knock us in the head for a few dollars in our pockets. But don't you let that person whoes just been knocked around light a cigarette to calm their nerves.
SORRY, on my soapbox. Not pointing at anyone for their opinion or smacking them down for it, just voicing my opinion. Smoking is not good regardless and I'm not defending the habit. Just saying that smokers are good people also and the habit is a practice of the generation in which we grew up in. So...transgender, dope heads, and all the rest of the silliness. JUST LEARN TO LIVE WITH IT.

That is why Trump is popular. We are so sick of PC. Cant say anything about anyone or anything without the PC police jumping down our throats. What ever happened to freedom of speech in this country. When we grew up, if you didnt like what someone thought or said..you just didnt associate with them. Now society says they must change. Become one of the robots.
And the kids..they have been indoctrinated just like in China. Hey kid..dad does something call the cops and tattle. Or tattle to teacher.
And yet when polls are truthful..it has been found that the young gen are filled with haters, racists and whatever.
The idea of the majority rules is long gone. Now any splinter group can protest and the country kisses their asses. The minority rules. Even if it is ONE.
If they dont get their way..riot! Funny thing is...arent they supposed to be at WORK?
Joe and I are in agreement on stuff. I think many of us are. And many who are afraid to admit it.
Am I a b*tch? Guess so. Guy ODed on crack. Good. One less worthless jerk. Blacks shooting each other..fine. Enough of the garbage shoots themselves off..maybe the regular hard working blacks can be left alone to live a peaceful life.
Why am I supposed to feel sorry for people who crapped in their own beds. Why am I supposed to pay taxes or donate to help people there IS no help for.
I see tons of hard working people and old people who did living hand to mouth and struggling. And no one helps them. They lead their lives of quiet desperation in the shadows.
And dont count on the millennials. Those entitlement, victimhood brats are still sucking off parents cause they havent found a job that puts them on a pedestal and lets them work when and if they feel like it that day.
Welcome to MY soapbox.

Orz, I agree with your soapbox rant. and on the smoking, just who do all these protestors to smoking think is going to make up all the tax money smokers paid??
I have a soapbox rant also. on tv tonight, the ASPCA was begging again, just $18 a month and we can save an animals life.. okay, but who is paying for your CEO to live so fancy? or for the tv ads? you know those are not free..
so people, if you want to send them money, think first. just say Hey, I bet the shelter here could use that money, or a volunteer to walk those pups, or lots of things you could do in your own home town to help the discarded pets..
okay, I am done for now.. carry on.. and yes, I volunteered for 3 years, at an average of 30 hours a week.. best feeling ever.

Connier, as you say keep it local. Give money and it's a 90 plus percent to the administration and very few pennies to the chaity. Goes the same as the American Heart Assoc donations, Cancer research, and all other entities. Then there's the scams with wounded warriers. OH and ever notice the little sad eyed dogs they use for these ads. Go to the local shelter, do what you can for them.

I donate to no group. The ones for medical just provide a life time salary for research Doctors. And all they need to do if publish a bit of data to warrant their new grant. Most great discoveries were made by Doctors in the field who cared.
If one looks at the bottom line of charities and foundations, less than five percent reaches the people who it is for. The rest goes for buildings, offices, junkets, salaries, ads to get more cash and galas.
Mom told me when she was a young woman, she volunteered for 21 charities. And she was a bookkeeper by trade. One day she ran into data showing that the board all received salaries. And not small ones either. She started to question. Found out they all had paid members. And that the average paid to the people in need was one percent. So as her terms came up, she dropped them all.
If I chose to give at all, I give personally to an individual. That way I know it reaches them with no one leaching off it first. A dollar goes to a deserving person and they get the whole buck, not a penny.

Guess if I had to sort all my interst I would come up with something for those who are old, sick, and alone. Just a few minutes of company is so appreciated, then a bottle of hand lotion, or a pretty flower. BUT...mostly just someone who shows them a little love as if they still exist. A few years ago volunteered at the Senior Citizens Center. They immediately asked if I would deliver home meals. Those people just wanted to pull you inside for a visit and looked so forward to having the meal delivery. Not just the food, but for the company. I enjoyed the people but the director of the center started taking advantage of my time. Calls almost everyday, can I come for meal delivery. I backed out.

I used to send cards to two ladies in nursing home. Called director and asked if she had a couple with no one. Never got replies but did it anyway til they died.
That is what stinks. Volunteer and they use you up til you quit.
Got a call yesterday from Erics wife. Can I pick her up at the jail and bring her here. Park on my border and move her car over to her. Seems that when I called the other night cause of her sucicide threats and driving me nuts..cops checked on her welfare. And then got hold of husband on cell. Found out she had blocked him from leaving with a knife, had cut her legs the week prior. So arrested her for domestic violence. She cant be by house for 72 hours. And cant contact him til court date in August. Now she is texting me and called earlier. She said talk him out of divorce. She cant live without him. I told her her Cant is what screws things up. She is a mental case. And he has had this crap for two years.
I reach the point where she wont have to kill herself. I will do it FOR her!

My farm shares their border. So I parked in the field entrance, walked over and drove her car over by mine. After I shifted the WINDSHIELD WIPERS into reverse. Huh???Why are the washers on and wipers. And where is the gear indicator??....OH! Floor shifter!DUHHHH. Right hand lever is wipers and left is directions..not column like Imp is.
She has backed off bugging me. Said she cant make it without him. Gee..then why didnt you act like a helpmate and not drive him nuts. He said not worrying about divorce right now..too busy with his biz, house and kids. But, thinks she will stick to her cant which actually means wont. And thinks her mental is un-cureable. Ya THINK!!

Orz, so what's his problem? Must like the needy because even if it makes his life hell, he keeps burying himself in the muck. If she is that mental, divorce may not be possible and he's saddled for the rest of his/her life with it. Don't know divorce laws these days about mental issues. Some don't feel they are worth anything unless they're saddled with the needy. Too bad for Eric, but he has to make a choice. Sounds like he's going to live with it.

he is now going to talk to a lawyer. And an abuse councilor for himself. The cops have charged her with a felony due to her blocking him in the basement while holding a knife. He said when he got home after they arrested her, there was blood on the floor. So she may have cut herself. Wish I knew what transpired with cops when they got there.
She was texting me last night til I shut cell off. Same litany. Cant live without him, life over...on and on.She said tell him she loves him..goodbye. 2 minutes later..she will tell him and they cant get her on the restraint cause she will be gone.
This am 9 texts. Same crap. And dont charge her with felony, just abuse. Talked to him this morning after. He didnt file..cops doing it themselves. I dont see any reason he cant divorce her. She has history of crap. I told him his ex and her are cut from the same cloth. Want a two legged paycheck sugar daddy.

Guess it had to happen. 3 kittens found their way across to the other side of the house. Came out..kitty kitty and only Two Spot was on stoop. Joe left and I went back out over to that side of the house. Kitties? And here came Indigo and Tumbler. 4Spot is still missing. He is the aggressive biggest male.Ma came up and she doesnt seem to notice. Guess barn cats are barn cats and they will leave my doorstep sooner or later. Just have to bind my heart. Reason for the in/out cats as opposed to a dog now. Read on line about dog ages and guess my baby made it a tad over it...11 years 6 months. 11 is average for her two breeds. Sure be nice if dogs lived a 100 years instead of a tortoise that no one notices if alive or dead!

A very beautiful day with temps dropping to 80 with very low humidity. Energy has kicked back in and I've had a really nice day. A subdivision yard sale just down the road about a mile is today and tomorrow. I found some really intersting items cheap. Brand new yarn for a quarter a skein. Enough fabric to upholester a chair for a buck. Also, bought a maul for $5 and as I was paying the gentleman asked "surely you aren't going to use that". My answer was "NO, just going to drag it out when unexpected guest drop by at the dinner hour and suggest something they can help me do". He was laughing as I left and said bet you don't have to do a lot of spur of the moment cooking. We had a good laugh.

I rec'd good news yesterday. Healthcare office phoned to advise a charge that was made in error by the doctor's choice of giving a shingles and tetnus shot in his office instead of directing me to the pharmacy has not been corrected and my balance of that bill is now ZERO. That was a $416 bill that I refused to pay because of the snafu by the doctor. It should have been billed to my pharmacy insc instead of health insc. They corrected the error.
NOW....what is coming along to suck up the windfall? At least for 24 hours or so I can enjoy the gift.

Went with Fuzz to a water park in the Dells with free passes from my electric co-op. So sat in the hot tub, did one turn on the lazy river and got wet. Yuck. Walked around the outside one and stuck mostly in the indoor. And ended up with sun hives anyway..sigh. Vampires just can NOT stand sunshine!
So while Fuzz played otter, I mostly sat and people watched. And checked out women. Guess I need to stop viewing myself and bemoaning what used to be. I am not THAT bad. Especially in the dark. lol.
Then yesterday the women at Goodwill asked tentatively..are you eligible for the senior discount..are you 55? I said try 66! She said you dont look it. Resisted the urge to adopt her!!
Eric was here this am getting tool boxes and his huge aquarium out of my trailer. Maybe one day it will actually just be MY crap stored in it. Now I need more shelves. How come when you dont need them...see them sitting on curb. When you do..cant find any for sale used.

I feel for ya. It seems that some people could care less. They figure they can charge what they want even if it's a lousy job - I respect a person that stands behind his work, Takes his time, and does it right the first time!

Eric came with his worker, bob cat and dump truck. They cut down the 4 oaks by the cottage and managed to NOT drop any on it. And then tore the hell out of the "park" around it. Eric leveled out by the barn and in front and left a pile, top limbs and a torn up mess behind and on the side. Branches and dirt and the old old oak base in the pile. Thinking, thinking..OK did favor to cut down but netted most of the wood too. So..if mama aint happy and she is NOT. So called him. You WILL get over here with a rake and help clean this mess up. And you said cut for me too so I want wood back. So he said will show up and later they will cut in the bottoms and bring me wood. Why do people like to leave you a mess where you didnt have one!

It's a shame that so many have good talents and know very well how to do a good job, but seem to want to trash their name by shotty work. If a contractor gives you a date and shows up on time, watch out because something isn't right from the start. Why the necessity to lie and rip customers off thinking they don't know any better? The thing is with so many jobs that need done they could get rich instead of struggling to pay their bills and all because of dishonesty. Why can they not see that?

Around here I have seen jerks stay in biz their whole lives doing crappy work. And making a decent living or getting rich doing it. They seem to always find new suckers who arent aware of their reputation.

I had a guy stop by the other day to look over a small job I need done. He has a great reputation for doing the best work. At the same time I realized that if it is anything that he hasn't done then there is something wrong with it. He picked my place apart. The roofers didn't put enough screws in the tin, the outbuilding should have had the post buried deeper so as not to see the concrete blocks the four by four post fits in and so on. I know he does good work, but when he left I felt like I was living in a slapped together shack (in his opinion). Now if he'll just come back and do this gutter work as promised I suppose I can listen to his comments.

Just remind him opinions are just like.....everyone has one. I have learned in construction each job has 500 opinions are how to do it. So I mangle it my way and say bite me.

Orz, you're right "ladies don't say it". However, trying to think when was the last time I was accused of being a lady.
