Happy Friday it is..I've been waiting for this week all summer Fresh cut flowers are always so pretty...occasionally I'll cut some and bring them inside... I'm excited to hit the road...and venture up north...relaxing on the beaches...getting in some kayaking and paddle boarding...soaking up the rays...getting some hiking in at MI state parks...driving the sand dunes again...and hopefully meeting some posters from here...hopefully I have enough time to do all of these things... connier Nampa, ID 68, joined Jun. 2008	well aren't we just too lucky!! there is a wildfire about 20 miles from us and it is the largest in the nation right now.. actually, it really is horrible and we have to keep doors and windows shut to breathe. burning close to 300,000 acres and is windy tonight.. so many innocent animals have already died from it, sure hate that.. I put a pic from one of our tv stations on my facebook about it, and that lake is where we went fishing just 2 weeks ago.

I saw the picture you posted, it is an amazing photo just wish it wasn't due to the devastation of a fire. How did it start, do they know yet? When my son and I were driving during a thunderstorm in Utah we the most powerful lighting strikes I think I had ever witnessed in my life hit a mountain off in the distance and all I could think of was "wow, now I can see how forest fires start out in the middle of no where". I hope no persons are caught in it and it is sad about the animals. Hope it gets under control soon!!! ~ Good Saturday morning to all ........ big yawn I'm not awake yet but I'm sure it will be a great day.

I spent quite a few years around forest fires and there was a couple of fire camps I was on where we had lightning strikes like you described and watched the trees eurpt into fire! More than once had the living crap scared out of us by a lightning strike so close and so instant and loud fillings tingled etc.!!! hair standing on end - get into a vehicle as fast as you can scared!!! we are supposed to be getting back up over 100 again starting today through at least the next 7 days as of last nights weather report...

Connie..it was starting to get so dry around here as well..I feared even burning the garbage if it was to windy...I hope they can get that fire under control...we got some rain last evening with some strong winds, that took down trees...I didn't lose any..but neighbors and family did.. I have a few things to get done today...oil change..mow the lawn..grab some munchies...and pack...maybe even enjoy the pool this afternoon...It's going to be a scorcher out there...leaving early tomorrow morning...It's a 7 hour drive....I thought of taking the SS Badger across Lake Michigan...It's a 4 hour sailing...enjoyable..but lacks scenery of driving around the lake...not to mention the cost... My father was in the CCC's and was stationed in Weiss, ID in the forestry division. Was something for a country/mountain boy to be shipped so far from home. I found many relics in his trunk and even part of his uniform as well as the pamphlet for new recruits. Coffee has kicked in this morning so ready to get started with the day.

Everything is packed..except my toiletries...I'm ready to pull out bright and early tomorrow morning... Ram.. if you change your mind..send me a message..I'm very flexible when I travel... orz Portage, WI 66, joined Jul. 2010	Just had a nice chat with a newer neighbor. He stopped to check out trucks for sale. What are the odds! We got in contact on DH! LOL. I thought of stopping to meet when driving by but never got to it. He was on DH long before he met his gal and checks in now and then to do forums. It is a funny thing. Next door neighbors rarely see each other. Guess the distance is to great. lol. Then we drive to some event 100 miles away and run into them and yak! I know my girlfriend lives down the road and we talk only a few times a year! When I was growing up we knew everyone around for miles. It was a village. Now new people move in from the city and I know few except the descendants that stayed on the farms. Like people who live in apartments and never talk to anyone there. Sad world. Everyone goes on FB rather than knock on a door and say howdy. So I now have another neighbor I know. Hope they stay for awhile.

I arrived safely to my destination...I just love it up here...I'm so thankful to live by the Great Lakes...I couldn't imagine living anywhere where there wasn't a body of water close by... I met a very friendly older couple and we sat at the park along the shore of the Mackinaw Bridge...we talked for over 2 hours..but the bridge was beautiful lit up at night..it feels good to be away... Fishy..Rise and Shine...time to go back to work... I hope you all have a great week...

Sat neck deep and rock hunted on the shoal I was sitting on. And actually got cooled to the bone. Got up and then water felt warm. Sun lower to horizon. The trapped pools felt like bath water! But, not sitting in them with algae and weeds. I guess I havent seen myself half clad in full sun for a long time. I had a turtle come and apologize..." Oh sorry to bother you! I saw your legs and thought it was the white belly of a dead fish!" GEEEZE am I pale. Guess I stay out of the sun!

I said, WHO are you people? had to go around and introduce new gal to Deputies etc, get her signed in .. so forth so on so go to my room a bit late. Fixed all the mess that was left for me, redid stuff that was wrong and just B*tched some.. Oh well, its what I do had enough time to let kids come to class, some new kids that didnt know me so I put my foot down let them know that FUN TIME is over, IM BACK! Then after lunch there wasnt anything for me to do out in my room so boss asked me to go over to the old Boot Camp and take inventory... took about an hour. Course smart Azz me brought back the pad I used to write down inventory on and on the first page I wrote. Boot Camp inventory: JUST A BUNCH OF CRAP LAYING AROUND ! I handed it to him and he just said.. OK I swear ya had to be there was funny.. but I flipped the page to show him what was really there. So yep, was a good day and Im POOPED! I can't remember the last time I've been to a river or lake. Sounds like you had a wonderful relaxing time. ~ As I had predicted Monday went quick. We have a new employee that has been there about a month and her first week here we bumped heads. Since then I've tried to be nice and respectful/professional with her. Seems she is hanging on to her grudge. SOOO guess who they made as her 'new mentor' since her mentor just took another job elsewhere. You guessed it, me. I think Karma had something to do with it. Yesterday was the first day of this arrangement ........ she did not ask me '1' question or ask for help with anything. We also have people in our area that are known as the POC for the day, they walk around and assist anyone that needs it. She utilized that option. In reality she is very capable and very knowledgeable so she really only needs to know how our company does things. So this is going to be interesting how it unfolds. Oh and the guy that left, I'll be picking up some of that slack in other area's, a few of us will absorb his work. OT coming my way and I have mixed feeling about it happy for the $$ but sometimes I think I'm too old to care. Anyway, I'll reach out to her today and establish some connection. After all we were pretty busy yesterday and maybe she needed to sleep on it. ~ ~ ~ C'est la vie

fishingmom Lake Alfred, FL 62, joined Aug. 2008	I need a nap but dont dare. was one of those days where, I didnt have a class so was buzzing around, checking out things to be sure we would be ready to roll Monday with kids.. found some issues with one of the classrooms and told the boss.. he said, didnt you tell any one? I said Youre the boss, I didnt want to go over your head, You tell them ... he told me thats what Im suppose to do, handle it cus I get them to do what I want Not sure where he got that idea but OK.. I handled it. Lets see how fast the repairs get done. Oh and tomorrow we have a meeting at the main office at 8 AM, SOOOOOOO I get to sleep in an extra hour!!!!!!!!!!! may not sound like much but.. an extra hour sleep will be heaven!

But I did get some lighthouse viewing in...big wine country up here in Traverse City... Relaxing by the pool...checking a guy out... not bad..
