What if he takes his teeth out so's he can pop his hearing aids in his mouth to wash them off? Huh? Say what?

I got the paper work for retirement, its ALL so confusing to me. I really need to sit down with these people and have them go over it with me. I should understand it but just seems so complicated.
Thats why we have HR people to help with this, just need to make an appt to talk to someone. Im sooooo lost

as for men. I gave up too. I dont want to be any ones sugar momma and seems all I meet lately need one. Forget it, I aint supporting them. Either its a mutual relationship or they can find someone else.
and they talk about women

Must have been the full moon because yesterday was the same kind of day for me. I certainly didn't want to get out or see anyone. I did stay busy but jumped from one thing to another and now I see stuff strown everywhere this morning. I swear the house didn't look so messy when I turned the lights out last night. Oh well, will give me a jump start this morning.

Fish....enjoyed the read. Thank you!
I have been reading inspirational and motivational material recently to nourish my spirit.

Encouraged my daughter to come shopping with me at Belk's yesterday afternoon. She ended up being treated to several new tops and a new outfit to carry home to my grand daughter. We had an early dinner at D*ckey Bar-b-que and she loved the taste of the southern smoked pull pork. Seems great tasting bar-b-que is not found in OR.

Happy Sunday to all. Wishing a relaxing restful day for everyone.

I have always been a recluse. But, with old age even more. The phone rings and I groan..leave me alone! If it is Joe I am fine. Anyone else I think now what do you want. Cause how often anyone calls just to see how I am doing. Either they want something I have, or need to vent. And texting is worse. Enough chat already. Ask the damn question and scram! I think about going off farm..have to wash hair. Then get dressed. And then ..what? Deal with idiots in my way and frustration. Events cant see what I want cause some jerk with a dog or kid on a leash is in the way. Or lolly gaggers..Would you please WADDLE FASTER!? I wasnt born grouchy. Been practicing for years.

I dont like talking on the phone either.. Id rather a text.. seems someone calls an while youre talking to them they are having a whole other conversation with someone at their house. So I stop talking.. then they ask, What did you say?
I tell them I didnt want to be rude and interrupt their conversation so I stopped talking

at least with texting I know they took a minute to read it and answer.. I hate people talking to others when Im on phone.. call me back when youre not so busy!
or when I go out to eat with my kid an she constantly texts her BF. I stop talking and then say, HE KNOWS we are trying to enjoy ourselves... get OFF the phone!

People are just too fricken rude... I keep to myself a lot too.

The "Nobody else can do it for you" is my philosphy of life. I've live by this for years but time and again someone else or their problems sneak in and make me forget. I told someone the other day that was complaining about bordom, lack of interest, not getting out of the house, etc. that complaining about it wouldn't help. It was up to them because the world basically didn't care if you went inside and shut the door, it would let you. There is too many beautiful things out there to enjoy even if it's a rich colored rose or the brilliant color of a little yellow bird. (that was for Gayle).

If it weren't for the enjoyment of the early mornings and fresh air, birds singing, watching the tiny little hummingbirds at the feeder WHY would we need the back porch?

Thanks for sharing that with us. A very kind reminder that we are worth a lot even to ourself.

Shar, just remember there is nothing that can happen to you today that you and God can't get through together. Thinking of you.

glad you all liked it, well except laff..

man the rains from Ericka should hit soon its getting black out there. Just glad I didnt get any rain today, now that Im home it can storm all it wants.

was going to run back out to market but forget it, dont really NEED anything just wanted a few things. besides the bra came off before I realized I wanted to go and every woman knows the rule... once the bra comes off it means youre in for the night

Which bring to mind this joke......

A teenage granddaughter comes downstairs for her date with a very shear blouse on and no bra. Her grandmother just pitched a fit, telling her not to go out like that!

The teenager tells her "Loosen up Grams. These are modern times. You gotta let your rose buds show!" and out she goes.

The next day the teenager comes downstairs and the grandmother is sitting there with no top on. The teenager wants to die. She explains to her grandmother that she has friends coming over and that it is just not appropriate....

The grandmother says. "Loosen up, Sweetie. If you can show off your rosebuds, then I can display my hanging baskets."

~ ~ ~ OH Hey it's a three day weekend on it's way !!!! Anyone making some plans? I am trying to work up a trip to Alabama and have my daughter and her family join me to go visit my mother-in-law (ex) but she is still like a Mom to me . She is getting up in years and doesn't think as sharp as she one did and I don't get to see her nearly as much as I would like. Not a fan of holiday traffic but we'll see if we can work it out. If not this weekend then maybe when the kids have their fall break.

You know it doesn't make sense, they started school on Aug. 3rd and build in breaks. They wouldn't have to build in a break if they started later?!?!?!?! Makes me go hummm.

Ugh, gotta get moving and outta here. ~ ~ Have a good day ~~~

What doesn't make sense to me is the theory that extending the calander year for school will cover snow days, etc. Then as Sheza said, breaks and more breaks. Then in the spring semester and once the tests are over, it's play time. Last two weeks of school is fun time with bus trips and outings. Where is the logic for this?

Anyone see the news today. The Rowan County Clerk is still refusing to issue marriage license to same sex couples even though her stay for appeal expired at midnight. She's claiming that it's against her religion. Early this AM the courthouse lawn was crowded with protestors both for and against. Already two law suits files against the clerk for discrimination and civil rights. Wondering where this is going besides in the history books.

I still think year around school is a good idea. I am up and down on uniforms although in the long run I feel like they are less expensive than regular clothes and you can get by with fewer of them. When my Grandson lived with me there was a strict dress code rather than uniforms; jeans, navy blue and khaki pants, Plain (no characters)white, khaki and navy shits
Though woven shirts could be a plaid or have a pattern. It was easy to dress him and he always looked sharp. Oh! and NO hats.

When I went to school it started Right after labor day and ended the first week of June. Girls wore dresses, boys pants. No one wore shorts.

Oh..just blame spell check. lol. I started school AFTER Labor Day. It was farm country and the kids were needed for farm work. And we got off a day here or there for teachers conferences. Day or two prior to Xmas to New Years. A couple days for Easter. And that was it! And we wore sane clothes in grade school. High school had dress code..dresses for gals. And nylons or socks. Oh fun...stand in a snow bank in skirt waiting for the bus that was a half hour late! I never wore nylons after first week of shredding them on the rough desk underside. Told friends if they ask I will tell them to feel! Not bankrupting dad for nylons. Never had a problem. Now it is a free for all to please the brats. And then wonder why kids cant get jobs after school. Maybe cause boss wont kiss their azz? Please more this to grouch! lol.

I certainly recall those days. We could wear slacks on severely cold days UNDER our dresses. Hose were out of the question...no one could afford hose. I was in my teens before it was thought about with a pair of heels but all young ladies were expected to wear a girdle....OMG I despised them.

As they say...we've come a looking way. Now days not much left to the imagination. Some
let it all hang out.

...... and someone always had a bottle of clear nail polish to use to stop the run in your hose. WHY on earth would they have expected High School to be a place girls were to wear hose?!?!?!?!

~ My grandkids and their parents miss uniforms. They moved to San Antonio and before that the kids went to a school where they wore uniforms and even the kids liked it because it was so easy to get dressed in the morning, no decisions. And they agree less cost in the long run.

Got to run ~

The comment about the boss made me laugh. A couple days ago I ran into a guy who was retired and he laughed and said he'd retired again. He was bored so went to work in one of the factories we have around here. Said they scheduled Overtime and he was there. Only one in his dept and there was absolutely nothing to do. Waited around a few hours for work to come his way then found out "not today", so he clocked out and went home. Returned to work on Monday to be told he was to be written up for leaving without permission. Management was the 30 something group and little experience with the old farts. Good thing about retirement and second job is that you can tell them "what you going to do, fire me?" When they showed up from the front office, papers in hand for his signature he asked if it was release of his last check because that was all he was signing. They couldn't believe he just got up and walked out with a smile on his face.

I get bummed..jobs going begging here. And then I think of dealing with people again and routine and NAH!
We wore pants at grade school. High school when rural b*tched said..oh you can wear slacks UNDER skirts til get to school and then change. Oh that is cool. And when bus is late..like we have time to change in bathroom. Maybe in HALL? I remember when minis came in.School rule was if appeared too short, teacher would kneel gal on floor to measure from floor to hem. Send home if shorter than..3 inches?
My boarder just told me the manager at Taco Bell told him he couldnt wear his necklace that is UNDER HIS shirt! No jewelry. He said no..he has a certificate from state for food and knows rules. Attached to his chain which is steel is a life alert dog tag. So flake off!
Kids get spoiled at schools now.Wear what ever dang near. They go to school like slobs or gangstas or freaks. Get to college and tat up and pierce up. And then try to get a job and hell no! You WILL wear that uniform. And cover tats and piercings. But..my rights! Want a paycheck..conform or OUT! I wonder what the kids do that have those big holes or plugs in their ears. Hard to hide those! And the neck tats up to jaw. Guess they never plan on working.
Guess with weather the car show and rendezvous I look forward too all year will be a no go. Unless they invent a AC bubble to wear.

Summer has returned up here...It's been in the low 90's...and very muggy..and it's going to stick around until Labor day...it might be the last time I can enjoy my pool before thinking about closing it for the year..

Sheza..I remember having the clear nail polish for stopping the runs in the nylons..I sure don't miss wearing them...I always hated them...they felt like a girdle...I don't like anything tight...even these leggings...they wear nowadays...I'd rather be barefoot and naked...

2 more days until the 3 day weekend...I can't wait...thinking about heading up north for the weekend...getting some kayaking in...

When I was around 13, we went for a week to Chicago. So had to get dresses and I got first heels. Damn those stupid c*ckroach pointed toe killers. So I needed stockings. No pantyhose yet. Mom said here..take one of my old girdles to wear and hook up the stockings. So here is all 75 pounds or so of my squished into a long line girdle. I was too skinny to fight all that rubber elastic. Amazed I didnt pop out the top like a squeezed sausage. Mom said panties go over. Yuck! Mine went under. So I wore the girdle for months. From below bra which was a short t mostly to mid thigh. Breath....pant pant. Then in a store..I spotted a garter belt. Uh mom? Oh those are not comfortable. AS OPPOSED to a girdle! Fine, if you want one I'll buy it. AHHHHHH..I can breathe again!!! Then they invented pantyhose. Saint him!! Except each brand is different. Some are so coarse might as well be a hair shirt. Some so sheer..why bother. And then the control top as bad as girdles. And the ones that walk south. Walking in store..WTH is going on down there anyway. Why am I walking funny. Go to can and...sigh...I always wanted my pantyhose crotch MID THIGH. No wonder I am walking knock kneed.
Mom told me about her wearing silk stockings. And the start of nylon. And no one could buy new in the war. So she had a tiny hook thing and learned how to re-weave a run. So all the women would bring theirs to her to fix. I cant even SEE the loop on stockings to start to redo!

The invention of sweat pants took care of a lot of women's dress issues as well as tennis shoes.

Not to mention....when I wear my panty hose....every time I fart....it blows my shoes off.

Panty hose is a thing of the past. Someone should post those in the other thread. There is no way to stuff it all in a tight package like a pair of panty hose and then when you age there is the problem of having to get to the bathroom fast. Ever try to get them things down and roll the hem of your skirt or your drawers wadded up in them?

I remember back in the days of short-shorts (hot pants)..... panty hose took all the hot out of hot pants. Men hated those damn things.

I like short shorts

I don't like those things that come to the knees or even worse crop pants. Always seemed to me they couldn't make up their minds if they wanted to be shorts or pants. They really chop up your body which isn't a good look for short people.

Besides at 76 I figure I can wear anything that blows my skirt up, including short shorts, stretch pants and tank tops with out a bra
