Like after WW 2 and we had Cushman Scooters to ride through the early 60's
We had a 1946 Cushman Road King my Uncle left us when he went in the army in 53 all 5 kids would ride it to school I road behind the handelbars and motor my oldest brother drove & both sisters sat behind him and my other big brother road behind them standing on the bumper. One day we had a huge mud puddle entering the school yard and my brother dumped all 5 of us in the mud
In 1960 we got a new Cushman super eagle WOW!!

For Christmas one year I got a new Daisy BB gun model 25 and one brother got a .22 Rifle and one got a bolt action .410 shotgun that held 3 shells.
We later went hunting on this farm that I today live on and it has a creek in the middle of a 80 acer pasture and a large hill on the east side of the creek.
Ken & I were down close to the creek but Floyd with his .410 was on top of the hill and he came on to a badjer and ran after it shooting his new .410 at the badjer.
1 shot 2 shot 3 shot all running across the hill top going north then No more shells Badjer turns around and runs after Floyd
And Floyd runs south trying to load his gun finaly he does and turns and shoots at the badjer then the badjer turns a runs again finaly Floyd does get his badjer but me and ken a just rolling with laffter still at the bottom of the hill

As a kid the city kids in school were getting a fifty cent allowance a week I came home and asked if I could get one It was explained to me doing the chores was my room and board and if I needed money get a job after my chores were done . Money was tight in those days so I really understood , that's when I started trapping fur bearers . The money I made thru the fall and winter had to last all year . One learns not to be foolish in the spending I learned that you stand on your own two feet and expect no handouts . My has the world changed

Don't think I truly ever understood the "tight money situation" at our house, but did learn early not to expect anything. Room and board was said in a different way by my Dad. He said "you've got something to eat, don't you". Anyway, it was the fact of doing without when seeing other kids have a lot more that made me stiffen up my back and decide some day I would figure a way to get it for myself. The handouts in those days came in the form of "government cheese".

I mowed yards and shoveled sidewalks and driveways for spending money. I remember buying a sweet Wilson ball glove and a Louisville Slugger bat and lightweight sanitaries to wear under my stirrups. I felt like the coolest dude on the planet.

just filled mine yesterday...

$1.89 and about $16. 45 years ago i could earn $3 in tips in an hour easily as a
waitress.

today...
it takes me 3 hours to earn $15 in tips on an average day...
as a manicurist.

times have changed, drastically. but i would not want to be a waitress today...no way!

Filled my tank for $1.80 a gallon last week and probably not the best thing I could have done. Before I got home the "check engine" light came on, so know it was watered down or whatever additives they put in it to make it so cheap.

Learned to drive with a stick shift and I could pop the clutch. Took a long time however for me to not panic when on a hillside and the car would roll back a little when taking off.

Got to almost thawing hear But made it a day with my grandson we may remember
I bought 3 new RUGER Collector's series 10-.22's And we gave each a good testing on my shooting range. I will keep all three at my range for friendly or serious target shooting.
3 people at a time can use the very same gun in everyway.
