I was just using white-out on my calendar, pre-coffee and managed to write something on the wrong page, doh, ANYWAY .... the white out was old and and kind of dry so I ended up helping it cover wiping it with my finger, you ask what in the heck does that have to do with days of old??  .....
Well I'mgonnatoldyou ..... I went to wash the now chalky looking white stuff from my fingers and I was immediately reminded of polishing my children's Stride Rite baby shoes. I would always manage to get it on my hands and fingers and we would even polish the shoe laces so they would be nice and white.

~ Typical guys ......... "fashion" isn't something you remember in detail especially if it's for a baby. duh!!
I thought for sure one of you would mention having a pair of bronzed shoes that were your as a baby. Some folks did that back then.
hummmm, I wonder what happened to the one's my mom had of my older brother that died as a toddler.

Tiger - If I put Coppertone on I burned worse so I didn't use it after realizing that! But yes I loved the smell too, do you think it has to do with it reminding you of summer fun (girls)? Scenery memory smell thing?

Yes I sure do.. I still get a whiff of that coconut smell sometimes and it reminds me of being at the pool, lake or beach and seeing the girls in their revealing swimsuits...
I never had a problem with burning but I think cocoa butter was a better sun blocker .

^^ You were lucky, unfortunately I did not pickup the gene of my American Indian grandmother but got the Scot Irish genes instead when it came to my skin color.

hummmm, to get on topic, Flip-flops were cheap and broke WAY too easy, so we usually just went barefooted. Tennis shoes were usually Keds which are still made today. Had to have them for PE ...... OH and those funny shorts.

Luckily my were straight shorts. I finally figured out why Lindas fit so nice. She tailored them in to show off her figure.
Playing shuttlec*ck in PE and the squeak the tennis shoes made! How come guys got shorts and white T-shirts and we got stuck with rompers!

Bugs!! Neighbor and I were talking. Where are the skeeters this summer. Should be tons. Where are butterflies, bumble bees, bats, grass hoppers, crickets..even flies!!? He thinks lots are smucked on interstate. We talked about pesticides too. He laid a well dead coon on his tailgate, went to cut hay, came back and total of THREE flies on it. We are killing off bugs too much. No bugs, no birds, no crops...

As for mosquitos ,who needs them There are bats flying around my backyard at dusk.
They are a great natural pesticide!
Town I used to live in sprayed for "insects" every summer. It couldn't have been
good for the bugs. They warned everyone to stay inside while spraying.It made a fog like a crop duster!

When I worked in the automotive field we had a blacksmith - What a God send! He could make special tools right there on the job. He was a artist in his own right. It was a pleasure knowing him.

It's just like the 60s again! The local Black Lives Matter head ran for the State legislature, but he only got 29% of the vote in the primary yesterday. Guess all the blacks don't agree with him after all.

I was amazed when someone told me they had never smelled a skunk before?? But some parts of the USA really don't have them and some people never live in an area there they might be, so it happens. Just struck me as being so odd not to have.

~ Taking a dip in a cement water tank/trough that was powered by a windmill. This was out at the deer lease and I loved to go exploring as a little kid. (non-hunting season)

My grandparents had a cement water tank partly had a wood cover to keep algee down I think and it had several large gold fish swimming in it. It was at times under a shade tree as well. A good place to catch the horse for a ride

OMGosh ........ Star that reminded me. In the pic below, that horse was kept out back in a small stable with a little field. We would go and get the horse to the side of the stable so I could get on for a ride, no saddle, bridle nothing .... then either the police would drive by or someone called them on us. We always managed to get away. I guess they didn't REALLY want to mess with us and let us get away. We lost interest when the horse wasn't very cooperative and would try to rub us off of trees.
True to the pic the guy dressed as an Indian would be out there in the evening business hours.
