I refuse to use the self even if it might be fun since I used to be a checker in grocery. It hits me wrong. Just how much more work do you want ME to do to hand you MY money. Maybe I could unload the truck too? Stock the shelves? I am not your un-paid employee. Same with shipping and handling. So..I am supposed to pay 4.95 shipping and handling for that $1 item stuck into an envelope? I went around once with catalog call taker about handling. Well..we have to pay someone to take it out of inventory and ship it. Gee..isnt that part of the cost of doing biz? I dont have to pay a stockboy who fills shelves, bags my groceries and carries it to the car! I finally said then skip it and catalog goes in garbage. If my small order isnt worth your time, then my big order isnt either.

Well John Doe sells something online for $10 plus $2.50 for shipping. Mary Roe sells the same thing for $12.50 and FREE shipping.

They'd be happy if you helped unload the trucks and stocked the shelves, just don't operate the powered forklifts with training, k? And sign a waiver so the store is off the hook legally if you get hurt.

The policy sucks I agree, but if you don't like the policy you are free to take your business elsewhere especially online. But is FREE shipping really FREE or just built into the cost of the product like Mary Roe?

Didn't we all? Always anticipated the new volume and then the wishes for Santa when I knew very well it wasn't going to be. Never hurts to dream and good training for the remainder of my life for wishing in one hand and spitting in the other then see which one gets full the fastest.

Took me a long time to accept the self checkouts. But have found that as I run the barcode across the scanner I can keep an eye on the price. Have found many things that did not ring up at the sale price and was able to get it corrected before it was paid for. So even if I don't like it or the practice of it being available, I do appreciate the ability to keep an eye on the total bill.

I just keep an eye on the price rung up. Especially walmart clearance. Oh? Someone must have laid it in the wrong place. Yeah..right. Like the STORE?!
We got Sear,Wards, Penny's, Aldens and Spiegels. I would go through them and turn pages down to a third of the catalog. lol. And then mom would check them all and tell me, NOW...go through and mark FIVE of the toys you REALLY want. And then your farther and I will decide which, if any, you will get for Christmas.
It was a good lesson. I still do it with catalogs. Husband saw it the first time..are you going to buy all that? No, it is so next time I dont have to look through..just the marked pages. And as I re-look again and again..see something not desirable in an item. And by the time the catalog expires, down to one. He said "So that is what you will buy?" Probably not..cause next week I get a new catalog. I learned to "own" stuff without buying it. You should see my ebay watch list. It grows, it shrinks, it grows...shut up GUYS!

My cousin phoned last evening and was in the Sav-A-Lot to grab a few things for breakfast this morning. She lives just a few miles from here but in a tiny little college town. The town is in this county also.

Weekly advertisement for sales, etc. for this grocery chain had a $5 off your bill if you bought $25 worth. As she was talking she went through the line to be checked out. Handed the cashier the coupon for $5 off. I could hear the conversation between the two. Cashier handed the coupon back to her advising it was no good. WHAT, it just came in this weeks flier. NOT GOOD FOR THIS STORE and then showed cousin the fine print. Said "valid only in participating locations".

Cousin was ticked and said to me "this really ticks me off and this store acts like it's not part of the Sav-A-Lot company". Then said "this makes me so mad"

My response was "I'd leave it all setting right there, walk out and let them put it back on the shelf. Then I'd hope the buggy was full of frozen things that would make them hop to it to get it back in the freezers".

It used to be that there were strict laws on sales. Like no loss leaders or bait and switch. Now it seems its the wild west. You can get a dime off..IF you buy TWO. Limited to inventory on hand...sorry..we sold out the one we ordered. No rain checks..sorry. Check the flyer..oh that is for ALL stores..we dont participate. Then why the hell do you not do your own flyer! Here is a coupon..but it expires in 24 hours..hurry back into town. And these prices are good only for Friday. So...you think I am going to make a special trip into town and pay for gas just to save on stuff I can live without. Talk about manipulation. When we were young it was the owner...you know..had this for a couple years..if you are interested I will sell it to you today for $*** just to clear it out.

I've been told that when Walmart honored other establishments sale prices that they would have only a little of the item in stock and the back room would be filled with it. As soon as the sale price had expired at the other store, out came the stash from the back room.

When I was a kid the 49,50 & 51 fords were very popular Hot Rods. For a long time now they just don't seem to come close to the popularity they once had But I still like them

My Dad drove a 49 Ford until it was near being an antique. As I recall the license plate was on hinges and dropped to get to the gas cap.

We had just moved to this huge farm and our tenant house was near the main highway (US25) from MI to FL. Dad started loosing his gas. Dad was very resourceful and could do about anything he set his mind to.

He rigged the license plate to the horn and had a switch beneath the dash to turn on or off. One morning at the crack of dawn the horn started blasting. Mom jumped from bed and looked out. There was a lookout posted and another on his knees filling a gas can. Dad jumped from bed, grabbed his pants and shotgun. Stepped on the front porch and unloaded on them. Mom said they were running so fast that you could have played marbles on their shirt tails.

Dad only got off one shot because of his pants. That was the end of the missing gas.

Good for dad! lol. Too bad before videos. Although now they would have sued him for trauma.
My ex was a shoebox nut. He redid a 49 that he then ran into the ground. Then a 51 he did the same. Geeze..work on them and then let them trash. He was an idiot. I never liked them. I was 50s Chevy tank all the way. Never expected them to become hot collectibles. I remmebr when the 60s cars came out..NEVER own one, they all look ALIKE. Now stand out and todays all look alike.
